Dear Cary. Read it from start to finish, could not put it down.

Dear Cary. Great book that tells about the dark side of Mr. Grant,I never knew he had. He had a very sad childhood that he was never able to get over. A must read.

GREAT BOOK!. When I heard Dyan Cannon had written a book about her life with Cary Grant I was horrified.....I am a huge Cary fan and I thought oh no here we go a slanderous tell all book about a very private man. I vowed not to buy it. I went on ibooks to buy Good Stuff and up popped Dear Cary. I saw you could read a sample so I decided to take a look. I am so glad I did. I quickly got the impression that it was a very genuine account of their relationship so I decided to buy it .......I was still skeptical that somewhere in this book it would turn into mud slinging. It never did..... I have never been a Dyan Cannon fan but I must say this women has CLASS! I read the whole book in one sitting.....I couldn't put it down. It is obvious how much she loves him. She was very respectful in every way even when writing about subjects that could be considered less than flattering. It struck me as a true account of a relationship between two real people. I think if Cary Grant were alive today to read it he would be proud of Her..... Thanks Dyan!

Well written!. Very captivating and well told story. It came across very honest and heart felt..

Fine. This is a very good book. Thank the author for writing it. Felt like it was honest—not flip or superficial—and I love the authors sense of humor. Thank

Dear Cary. A heartfelt book by Dyan Cannon of her relationship and marriage to Cary Grant.

Touching. Truly enjoyed this book. Loved the letter Dyan wrote to Cary in the end. I've never known much about her, good to get to know her.

Riveting, but in the end 'it didn't really sound like love'. Hard for me, a 66 yo baby boomer to see, hear and understand the reason Cary Grant could not truly love a spouse...even beautiful, bright and talented #4…Dyan Cannon. What a damaged piece of goods, Cary was, from early childhood, and as all spouses have learned, people have great difficulty changing, not with 'mind-bending acid trips', becoming someone foreign to who you really are, and/or seeking 'God' through drugs/chemicals. Sacrificing your true self for another is doom to any relationship. Dyan Cannon...she allowed the sacrifice of her true self, which in the end is the most destructive thing one can do. You are who you are, and through real communication, not that which is supposedly enhanced by lysergic dehydrogenase (LSD), but 'real' everyday communication, discussing the good, the bad and the ugly, can one maintain a lifetime of being in love with one person...this combined with a true, mutually agreeable spiritual life. I found this book riveting...and illustrative of how easy it is to just walk away from commitment, vows of fidelity, promises of forever. As a bright, complex woman, married to a bright, complex man, we have enjoyed the highs and endured the lows of a 42 year marriage, one that has avoided infidelity. We have not tried to change each other, just have made a very concerted effort to check on each other every day and try to 'take care of ourselves individually', so that we can nurture our duality in marriage. Read about the true love Dyann Cannon had for 'Archie' aka Cary Grant...and judge for yourselves...if before you marry you have major doubts, just don't do it, whether, months, weeks, days, hours or minutes before the 'vows are taken'. This is the story of two tormented souls, told in the context of love, but where truly, one was incapable of allowing his spouse her individuality...he needed her to be 'under his control' because for decades of his life, he was left bereft! Read this…and weep.

Dear Cary. I was sad to actually come to the end of this book. I have been a fan of Cary Grant for what seems like my whole life. I grew up in Bristol and lived very close to the subdivision Fishponds. When I was young, I used to hang about outside where Elsie lived in the hopes that Archibald Leech would come to visit her. I was always disappointed. When first reading this book, I was somewhat upset that Diane could possibly write anything but wonderful stories about Cary. I didn't want to think of him as anything but perfect, much the same way that Diane did as his girlfriend and then wife. Of course, I don't have rose tinted glasses so realized this was probably the way Cary really was and although it still hurt to read it, I couldn't put it down. I would read chapter after chapter until my eyes could no longer stay open. I believe that one of the nicest things about the book is the letter that Diane wrote to Cary at the end of the story. It was the most amazing and beautiful letters and made me feel differently towards the authour. They were both expecting each other to make them happy. By changing who she was, to be the way she thought Cary wanted her to be, so sad, things could have been different, but I believe their love was real. Her story was real. She took me into their home, their lives and she had me hooked. I loved reading it. I loved all I learned. I loved discovering the intimate Cary. I still will always adore him. I hope everyone who has any desire to learn more about Cary, to learn about his and Diane's life together, will have the opportunity to read this book. I know they will enjoy it as much as I did.

Wonderful. To Dyan, all I can say is Brava. I couldn't put this wonderful book down.

Dear Cary. Dear Diane, thank you for sharing such a private part of your life. Anyone who reads this book can tell that you had an abiding love for Mr. Grant. There are imperfections in all of us. I am so glad that you found the answers to your questions. Peace be with you.

Dear Cary. I really enjoyed this book. Though I will never feel the same way about Cary Grant, He should have NEVER done what he did to you & Bangs! That was unforgiveable!

Surprised. I've always been a fan of Dyan Cannon which is why I purchased the book. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I have. Near the end, it was difficult to put down and the ending I found to be my favorite part. I would recommend this book to anyone whether or not they are fans of Dyan or Cary.

Dear Cary,. Thank you Dyan. I truly could not put this book down and finished with in hours. What a wonderful love story. An exclusive insight into 2 of hollywoods most loved stars. With great dignity you have shown me a unique side of Cary Grant. A side I will cherish for ever for it's pure truth and love. I am sure this could not have been an easy project for you. I for one being a huge fan of not only Cary but of you as well, am grateful to you for sharing this private story with such honesty. I have read every thing I can find on Cary Grant over the years. I always emulated him being that perfect gentleman he was. And he made me proud to be a gentleman. But for the first time I think I truely saw the man behind man. The real Cary, not the perfect person the media projects but the human being with all the love dignity and flaws we all have. I am so happy that you finally found peace. Jennifer is a gorgeous woman like her mom and dad. I am delighted that the world has a new Cary in it. The original Cary will always be here to remind us how great we can be and the new to Cary on. I highly recommend this book. Any person who is a fan of either Cary or Dyan needs to read this. And any lost soul this read is a must.. Thank you again and god bless....... Sincerely, Michael

"Dear Cary": An Honest Memoir. One can never truly know what happens between two people but, even knowing the limitations of autobiography and memoir, acknowledged frankly by the author, this book felt so real and true that I read the whole thing within 18 hours of starting it. It's about real love, and deep wounds that cast shadows on future possibilities for happiness; joy and madness; addiction and spiritual triumph; fame and the things that really count; pain and forgiveness; losing yourself and then finding compassion for your truly human self. It is four or five love stories in one, including loves passionate, spousal, parental, filial, friendly, and even four-legged. Cary Grant and Dyan Cannon are two people I had heard about my whole life, their daughter six years younger than myself. DC manages to convey the story of the love she felt and the dissolution of a marriage she never wanted to end which such immediacy that it even feels like her 20-something self is relating these events as they unfold. Her breakdown and subsequent recovery speak clearly to anyone who has ever had a similar experience. I didn't expect to love this book; but I did.

Outstanding!. Outstanding writing! Difficult to put down. Enjoyed the real life stories and heartfelt emotions written about both the good and bad times. Not normally a fan of Hollywood but this books gave an insight into the real life of one who lived it. Well worth the time spent reading.

Eye opening!. Dyan I found your book and your account of your life with Cary Grant amazing! Cary Grant will always be my matinee idol but Cary Grant the man was very sad.... Dyan at the beginning of the book you start off so strong and then when you met the love of your life and let him in, he change you. You tried to become what he wanted of you, his vision, not true to yourself. You were so young and still growing into yourself, your true self, the person that is guided by our hearts, not by someones vision of us. In short you joined the Cary Grant Cult and lost yourself and in many ways your soul. It was a rough and insightful journey but now you are true to yourself. Your daughters loved ultimately saved you from total destruction. Always head towards unconditional love, with that you can only thrive! Final note, I wish you had been reunited with Bangs....

Dear Cary, a love story. I saw Dyan Cannon on a talk show that told me about her writing this book. I immediately downloaded the book because I thought it would be a good read. I hadn't finished a whole book In a few years, so I set my mind to doing just that. I did put it down for a few days at a time, but Then i would pick up where I left off. I found the book to be very insightful and enjoyed it very much. The pictures at the end made it more personal and were a nice treat!

So much more than a celebrity bio!. I admit that I knew little about Dyan Cannon or Carey Grant, but the "sound-bites" I did know set my expectations for this book to be a "breezy" read -- a Hollywood tale with not much substance. Wrong! Well written and very profound. Dyan's experiences are sadly real for thousands of women on "Main Street" every day. Her recovery and survival are inspirational!

Dear Cary. Very interesting. I saw many similarities between Priscilla and Elvis, and Dyan and Cary

Wonderful. Dyan Cannon is a tremendous woman and a fearless writer. She deserves an award for this terrific book. May I also add that she was blessed with a marvelous dad.
