Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich Book Summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum’s life is set to blow sky high when international murder hits dangerously close to home in this dynamite novel by Janet Evanovich.

“The most popular mystery writer alive.”—The New York Times

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127 Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she’s flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Only one other person has seen the missing photo—Stephanie Plum. Now she’s the target, and she doesn’t intend to end up in a garbage can. With the help of an FBI sketch artist Stephanie re-creates the person in the photo. Unfortunately the first sketch turns out to look like Tom Cruise, and the second sketch like Ashton Kutcher. Until Stephanie can improve her descriptive skills, she’ll need to watch her back.

Over at the bail bonds agency things are going from bad to worse. The bonds bus serving as Vinnie’s temporary HQ goes up in smoke. Stephanie’s wheelman, Lula, falls in love with their largest skip yet. Lifetime arch nemesis Joyce Barnhardt moves into Stephanie’s apartment. And everyone wants to know what happened in Hawaii?

Morelli, Trenton’s hottest cop, isn’t talking about Hawaii. Ranger, the man of mystery, isn’t talking about Hawaii.  And all Stephanie is willing to say about her Hawaiian vacation is . . . It’s complicated.

18!!!. I loved this book! I had a bad day and flew through it! Janet has the wonderful ability to be completely over the top, and down to earth at the same time. Her characters are rich. I feel like they are extended family I'm hearing stories about.

Classic Stephanie Plum. Loved it! Funny & weird. She's done it again!

Dreadfully awful. This book was dull, contrite & frankly a chore to read. It was like walking through a swamp on a hot day: exhausting, draining, & unnecessary. One of the most incompetent "heroines" I have ever had the displeasure to read. How exactly has the author stretched this bore of a series into 18 books?? Thin plot. Weak, generic, characters. Predictable & annoying scenarios. Not very believable plot lines & the lead character's actions are just plain stupid. As am I, the reader, for not reading the book's free preview (sample) on iBooks & just wasting my time & money. Never again. Always read the sample first. Always.

Gre Eric. Reel is reel e.g.

Explosive. I really enjoyed this book!

Boring. Her books have really lost their edge

Avid reader. Great read! Stephanie Plum is at it again.

18. Well, I am a big Plum fan to begin with, but this book was particularly great. I couldn't put it down. Stephanie Plum rules!

Disappointed. I was counting the days until I could get this book to go on vacation with Stephanie in Hawaii. Instead the book starts with her aboard the plane on the way home....did I miss a book?

Awesome!. Thank you Janet! Love the continuing escapades of Stephanie and Lula!! Getting ready to start #19!

Explosive eighteen. Finish up the series already. Getting old

Back to the good stuff. Janet gets on track with this one, I've read the series andthisone rates as one of the best!

Explosive Eighteen. As always, Evanovich does not disappoint. Her books are so entertaining and light hearted, that putting it down is impossible. I love that I don't need a dictionary and a masters degree to enjoy the read. It takes you into a great place and keeps the reader there. She really knows how to keep the hits coming. Thanks again......I can't wait for Ninteen.

Explosive Eighteen. It is not easy to shuffle two men in and out of your bed and keep a job, too. Plum stumbles through an improbable series of mishaps with just enough luck to save herself---and the plot. Silly, but it keeps the pages turning. If you think that you have had a really bad day, read this adventure and put your life in perspective.

Scattered sentences. I have nothing positive to say about this bunch of scattered sentences that make no sense. I wouldn’t refer to this as a coherent story or a book

JE does it again. Book 18 delivers again!!! I love this series! I hope there is a Stephanie Plum #567!!! Keep writing them & I'll keep reading them!

Explosive eighteens. Loved the book. Grandma was back and it was funny. The best is still to the nines...I hate the endings you know there is a sequel but can't wait for it to come out

Explosive eighteen. This was not one of Janet's best books. The main character feels stale and the story line between the three was weak. There should have been more about the situation in Hawaii. I would love for a third man to enter Stephanie's life and shake Ranger and Morelli up. Someone who would make them come to a final decision about their true feelings toward Stephanie. This triangle is getting old!

Explosive Eighteen. This was typical Stephanie Plum. Hair brained and hair-raising. Her characters never disappoint, but Steph has to get off the fence already and pick a guy. It's starting to get old. If she picks Morelli I will probably stop reading the books but there are probably more Morelli than Ranger fans so that's just me.

Funny. I laughed till I wet my pants ! This book is great !!!!! Thanks Janet.

Explosive Eighteen a dud. Very disappointing. It is like she phoned this one in. Boring. I used to laugh at loud at this series and couldn't wait for the next book. But I barely cracked a smile. I am bored with the love triangle. It is getting very monotonous. Come on JE you can do better.

Love it. Love Stephanie plum, awesome read

18 books. 18 books and the characters are still the same and no closer to a decision. I'm tired of getting excited for the next book and have it be almost exactly like the rest of them. Either spice it up or just end the series ~ I'm afraid we are all getting very bored. Sorry, I really did enjoy them up until the last couple.

Love Ms. Janet!!. This is one of my favorite authors and ALWAYS makes me laugh out loud (usually during times I shouldn’t). Lol. I count stop until the entire series was completed.

Count down!. I started reading these books a few weeks ago. I had to start at one. (OCD). I don't understand the bad reviews. I'm in it for a fun read and it would all be ruined if Stephanie settled for just one man. Getting ready to start 18 and know I'll love it as much as the others. 17 was great and as always- hysterical!!!!

Explosive Eighteen. I'm still a fan!! I heart LULA!! She always has Stephanie's back. This book was LOL funny! Can't wait to read the next book!

Explosive Eighteen. I laughed SO hard! Keep em coming, Jan!

Explosive Eighteen. I have read every book in the Stephanie Plum series. When you think she can't get any funnier, she does. Janet Evanovich does it again. Keep them coming!

First time I've been disappointed with a Plum novel. This book fell flat for me. I have read the series multiple times, and always enjoy the books no matter how many times overhead them. I'm not sure what happened here, but I hop it doesn't happen again...

#18. Another great read! I love the adventure and excitement in the Stephanie series.

Another great book. Thank you for continuing the Stephanie Plum series. I look forward to the next one. And the movie was everything I had hoped it would be.

Explosive eighteen. Very funny read, I now have to wait for nineteen, who will she marry joe or ranger. Please keep writing janet. Liz oman

Explosive eighteen. Cute book. Easy read. I miss the one scene that is in her earlier books which would make me laugh out loud. All in all a fun book but not her best.

Sizzling seventeen. I have read all of her books ,the last few are not her usual . She needs to make a decision & get into more silly situations. Personally I would pick Ranger. But she needs to dig into his past.

Explosive eighteen. I don't know how the author changed her writing style but this book is simply not worth the money nor the effort it took to read it. I finished it only to make sure that I don't waste my time or effort worrying that maybe the author redeemed herself at the very end of the book.I wonder if the agent, editor or publisher bothered to read this book before they dropped it on the lap of an unsuspecting public, knowing that fans would never dream that Evanovich would deliver such garbage. Shame on each of you. Good luck with Nineteen; you're going to need it.

Don't waste your time/money. This book was sooooo disappointing. The characters were all over the map and didn't seem to be thought through. I have read ALL of Evanovich's books and I have to say that this was the least entertaining. I don't think I will spend the money on any other of the plum series and end it here for myself. If you haven't bought the book, don't bother. Buy another author who wasn't pressured to write a book so quickly after their last and took the time to actually develop a storyline and characters.

Good. Good as usual.

Explosive Eighteen. Love the Stephanie Plum novels. They make you laugh and always have lots of action. Never disappointing.

Meh. This has to be the worst book JE has written. I loved all the early laugh out loud til your sides hurt and people star at ya books. But these last 2 have been a chore to even finish reading. Boring, not funny, scattered ramblings. Such a disappointment and waste of money. If there is a #19 I'll try the library before I commit another penny to this series.

Explosive Eighteen. Twists and turns...fun and games...another good one !

Smokin' seventeen. Love all of her books

Explosive 18. I found this book wasn't as dry as the last two in the series. If this series wasn't so popular they wouldn't be making movies out of them! I'am however growing tired of the love triangle of Stephanie, Morelli and Ranger. There was a hint of some bigger things to come because there was a passage about her lapse in birth control. I think it'd be cool if she wound up pregnant but not sure who the father is, that certainly would be an interesting read! I wonder who will play Grandma Mazur, I told my mom Betty White should've got the part lol she certainly would be hilarious for it. Can't wait for the next book but I think Janet should take back over writing them and where's the next in between the numbers novel?

Explosive Eighteen Not So Explosive, but Good. The earlier Stephanie Plum novels had more suspense, but the later ones let you get into the characters more. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't in a big rush to finish it.

Enjoy reading now. I can not stop reading her books . I was never that big of a reader Dan Fisher was the only real big one for me but I can not stop reading now I can not wait till the next book comes out.Janet keep them coming.

Explosive eighteen.. I read the book twice. I thought I missed a few chapters. What a huge disappointment I really can,t believe how this book was written. Grandma mazor didn't,t get into any trouble. It was very boring I. Read all 17 of your books in3months they were soooo good.

18 tq. Can't decide between Ranger and Joe...the supporting cast continues.....to evolve with hilarious consequences. Looking forward to the first movie. Evanovich rocks a fun loving family oriented christmas family tome. Happy new year!

Needs Something. I love all of the books in this series, but I would like to see JE put more into the Stephanie/Ranger relationship. It's about time that he starts letting her in on some of the secrets and give them a chance to move on. The Morelli/Stephanie relationship is getting old and tired...maybe he should get mixed up somehow with Terry and add some spice to the whole triangle. I like the characters but would like to see more excitement and more humor...

Passsss. This book was not her best. The plot is recycled and I didn't laugh out loud as much. I also would like Stephanie to pick a man, preferably Ranger; Morelli is too predictable and I honestly find him a little annoying, she would get married and have babies. The end. Grandma Mazur is great as always. Overall I think this series needs more action and big decisions.

Explosive eighteen. Love, love, love this book but I'm disappointed that there wasn't more detail about the story in Hawaii!

Awesome. Couldn't put it down
