A True Work Of Art. I could not put this book down after turning that first page, the story is written beautifully and the storyline and charecters are well developed. I practically backflipped out of my chair after seeing there was a second book. I recommend this to anyone who wants to read a trully engaging story

Highly recommend. Read this book in middle school when it first came out. This is one of the only books that stuck with me all these years and had an itch to read it again. Highly recommend

Decent. Didn't care much for the ending. But the book itself was okay.

AMAZING. Ok, this book got me glued to it. I had to tear my eyes off of the pages when I needed to get something done. There were times when i rooted for Isabelle, wanted to slap Mrs. Lockton, and do it all at once! Loved this book, would recommend it to anyone to likes black history and the revolution. Laurie Halse Anderson has once again captured my heart in this beloved novel. (I also recommend reading the series. Those were just stunning.)

:D. I think, by far, that this my favorite book by Laurie. This is one of my most favorite time periods to read about, so it took me no time to get caught up in it. Waiting for the third book is killing me though...Lol

Chains to forge. This book is amazing I read it in school and have loved it . You should read it (p.s)Ruth is "sold" . That part made me cry tearing the bond of 2 sisters .it makes me think of me and my sister .Also when Isabel got branded I poured my heart out. Now reading forge can't wait for ashes .

100%. I highly recommend this book, we had to read it in middle school and the rest of my class thought it was okay but not me. I loved this book so much after we finished reading it sadly they had to send the book back to it s previous owners. But I still decided to head to the library and check it out cause I LOVED that book so much! Great job Laurie this book was so extraordinary!!!!

From Chains to Freedom..... This is one of the better historical fiction books I have read. Laurie Halse Anderson is an author who writes meaningful novels, that actually have lessons and morals. My favorite thing about this book is that it is told from a young slave's point of view, which I have never seen before. Each of her book's is different/unique and I would recommend at least reading one of Laurie's books. Not a fan of historical fiction? Read Speak. It is written by the same author and is realistic fiction!

Very Emotional. Very sad. Get ready to cry a whole bunch. An amazing book. Just was to short. You will want there to be a second book at the end.

Chains. This is one of my favorite books. I don't usually like books about the past that are fiction,but this is a must read. I am hoping the third one comes out soon!

This book is amazing!. The characters are amazing and sometimes I feel like l’m in the main character perspective and I imagine that I am literally in 1776 in New York City

I'm so impressed. I'm so Impressed with this book; I had to purchase it for my U.S. History class, and I didn't expect myself to enjoy it so much. This book was truly amazing; it puts us in perspective of Isabel and her struggles. Like many slaves during this time era, she was mistreated by her owner. Laurie Halse Anderson did such a great job! I can't wait to read Forge!
