Matched by Ally Condie Book Summary

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Goodish. It's like a mixture of The Hunger Games, The Giver, and Divergent. It's a pretty good book but some parts drag on so its kinda boring.

Definitely okay; interesting read in the US political environment of 2020. First off, let me start this review by saying I’m looking forward to the second book in hopes it has more action. This book was somewhat like the Hunger Games if the Hunger Games had less action and more love triangle drama. Sometimes I would think to myself, “Okay calm down. You’re 17.” Basically it parallels in that the lead character is a older teenage girl questioning the values of her government. This book was definitely an easy read, but I never quite felt the “I can’t put it down yet until I know what happens next” feeling until the last ~3 chapters. Then this whole book kind of felt like a set up to the next book in the series. The writing is beautiful and it is definitely a tale worth telling as there are parallels to be wary of in our political environment. Just be prepared for a bit of a slow read.

Not good.. I am a huge dystopian book fan. But this book wasn’t a good one. The author totally copied The Giver another dystopian series. In the Giver people are assigned jobs, matches, and homes. In the Giver there are also communities. And in Matched they have outer provinces. Matched’s World is practically the same as the Giver’s World. I didn’t really enjoy this series the nor the characters in it. The plot was ok, but when I was reading it I just saw to much resemblance to The Giver. For me this book was kind of boring. Also the love triangle was interesting, The main character is always freaking out about who she loves. I get it it’s a love triangle but I have had way better experiences with love triangles in books the The Hunger Games, Keeper of the Lost Cities, and more. I wouldn’t really recommend reading this book before you’ve read The Giver.

Sss. W

Pretty good. Not amazing, but not horrible. I liked it, it was pretty interesting. The whole poetry thing between Cassia and Ky is nice.

Favorite book of all time!. This book is AMAZING. I would recommend it to anybody who likes romance novels. It keeps me on the edge of my seat (LITTARALY)

Boring and drags on forever!. I at first I thought this book was cool...bc IM A HUGR DIVERGENT FAN❤...but it just dragged on and on and no romance or anything. Waste of time. Just a bad spin off of divergent series.😓

Second book was better?. I kinda thought this was a bit like The Giver? No? Just me? Alright. But it was a pretty cute book. Second book had much more action. I honestly loved the poems and little actions between Kye and Cassia, it was like their own language.

Loved it!. I loved this book but know that I'm very into love dovey soapy stuff and also the idea of dystopian society's, what they would be like, and fighting against them

!!!!!!. Oh my gosh!! I have heard nothing but good things from this book but I haven't been able to read it yet. I read the sample though, and I about blew up. It ends on such a cliff hanger!!!! I need to know what happens!!! It ended on "That could only mean one thing..." WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? IM FREAKING OUT!!

Matched. This book is one of my three favorite books of all time. It not only gets you hooked to Cassia, and her struggles, but also teaches you about love: how to fight for it, how to go against everything you've ever known to get it, the different types of love that you can have for different people, etc. It is an incredible book...READ IT!!!

Amazing! Ally Condie is by far one of the best writers ever!. One of the best books and I read a lot! Great writing amazing characters it keeps u pulled in the whole time

Delirium on crack. Such a good book. Fresh!!!

No nO No nO. This book had no adventure, kept jumping to random moments, and it didn’t pull you in

Gorgeous read. This book had an excellent message and was very beautiful. The reason why it wasn’t a SUPER good book is because it is really boring at times but it was still an interesting read. The love triangle is pure gold and I adore Xander and Ky I just wish that they both had someone better than cassia even though she is a great lead.

It ok. I have read all of the books and I would say this is one of the bests out of all three but it was not the best book I have ever read.

Love!. I really enjoyed this series!

Eh!. My friend told me to read this a few weeks ago, so I went to my library and got it. I don't regret getting the book because I am in love with Ky, but I feel Cassia is very stupid and naive. One minute she's in love with Xander then the next she loves Ky....I almost feel she doesn't care for either if she's doubtful! Also, the characters developments is just not there at all. It's way too slow, and has too many chapters. I'm only reading the second book cause I want to see the ending, not because I like the author or main character. If you're looking for a good dystopian romantic book, go find Divergent or The Selection....you won't be disappointed!

Matched. This book is very boring. I got bored a lot. It drags on and on, and this book is probably one of the most boring most I've ever read. In my opinion, I don't think anyone of them are good at all. I was a little disappoint, because I seemed so good. If you don't mind slow, not much action books, and bits of poetry, this might be for you.

Great. I really love the series it was great i liked all the drama and romance.

Matched. This book is AMAZING!! I have been reading every night! I can't go to sleep without reading any of the book. My friend is also reading it. Every day at school we talked about what we read! Sometimes it did kinda get boring! But, overall I think this is one of my top 5 books I have read.

Exceptional. Worth the read, and I can't wait to read the next two books.

Sry. I don't like it at all

Good read. I love this book!! It always keeps me reading ! I love to see what happens next in this book

Always Loved A Good Romance. Phenomenal!! Dystopian novel are becoming quite popular. Good & interesting read!

Wonderful series. Great book series definitely would recommend

Okay.... I feel this book had a lot of potential but failed to achieve what it could have. Not to be negative- this was actually quite a good read. But I feel it could have had a lot more in it. I also feel the main character doesn’t go on much of an emotional journey. In other words, I feel this book was OK.

Very intriguing. I feel that this book lags on, but you don't necessarily want to put it down! It is in fact beautifully written but I feel that it gets old with all the sappy love story. It wasn't my favorite but it wasn't a disappointment at all! I have mixed feelings...I know.

Good but too long. I love the story but it was very boring at parts. There were quite a few unnecessary parts that dragged on and made me put down the book for a while. Other than that, I recommend it. I tried to read the second one but got so bored I couldn't finish it!

100% AMAZING. This book was AMAZING. It pulled me in right at the beginning. I think this book is awesome for anyone who loved the Divergent and Hunger Games series!

Good, not the best.. I wish that there was more plot line in the book it was too straight forward

❤️Matched❤️. My friend recommended this book to me and I love it. At first it was kinda boring but I started reading it again and I am in love with all the characters (especially ❤️Ky❤️) and the story. I love how the author uses first person. It makes me feel as if I am in the story. I feel the characters emotions and thoughts. I just want to thank Ally Condie for such a great book. I am excited to find out what happens in the final book.

Best Book EVER!. This is an amazing book! I totally recommend it! #myfavbook

Please Read My Review😭😭😭😁. First thing...OH. MY. GOSH. (Picture the voice of the bird that looks like a mime from angry birds😉) this book was amazing!!!!! The grandfather part brought me to tears. Literally, I went to the bathroom so I could cry in privacy until I finished the scene. (I was wearing mascara, and yes, It looked like it does when someone cries in the movies.) Anyway, I was in love with both Ky and Xander. I'm still on the fence about who Cassia should b with. But Ky is soooooooo romantic, I wanted him for myself!!😍😍💓💓💓but Xander was so kind and funny.....(I think I'm team Ky...forgive me Xander!!!!!!) and the officials, ooooooh I wanted to rip the society apart with my bare hands. For the record, I love how it was written, u know, how it was normal. Like living in that way was accepted, it broke my heart, and gave me a real appreciation for the real life I lead. So thank u Ally Condie for writing this book!!!! I will soooo be reading the others!!! For the record, on a side note, the commercials...they hurt my eyes and my brain. Please re-do, they felt nothing like the book, and the acting was horrid. Thnx!!!! Still love the book, can't wait for the rest!!!!! Byeeeeeeeee-💋💋💋

Well done tale of an oppressive society and those that have the courage to rebel. -We're introduced to Cassia, as she's just turning 17. She's reached the age where she is to be matched up with someone who, according to computer algorithms, is perfect for her. We see that this is a society in the future, a society that has complete control over its citizens and dictates where a person will live, what their vocation will be, and who they will marry. -To someone who was born into that type of life, each step taken where the "Officials" dictate what comes next, seems natural. Cassia, along with other girls that have reached her age, goes to the "Matching ceremony" and happily discovers that her perfect match is her lifelong friend, Xander. -Where other girls are typically matched up with boys who live in a different city and have to gradually learn about each other, that's not the case with Cassia. Each person that gets matched is given a computer chip which gives information on the person that they're matched to. Since Cassia knows Xander well, she doesn't check out the information right away. -Cassia's grandfather is approaching his 80th birthday. In this society, everything is controlled, including books, poems, songs, etc. Only 100 of each are allowed with all the rest being destroyed in order to prevent information overload. We also find that no one lives beyond the age of 80. On a person's 80th birthday, because of the foods that are given, everyone dies. -Her grandfather, though, has a rebellious streak, and even though he's forced to do things according to the rules, he secretly breaks them. Cassia becomes a part of that as he gives her a compact with a secret compartment that houses unauthorized poems. That, though, is just the beginning for Cassia, because when she finally does insert the chip containing the information about her perfect match, Xander's face is not there, but there's another boy's face, a boy that she also knows from the neighborhood, but who also has a rebelliousness about him. -Cassia becomes torn between the two boys. The Officials have told her that the chip she received with the other boy's picture was defective, but she later finds out that the boy whose picture she saw, Ky, was not allowed to be matched up. Due to an error his data was included. Little by little, an attraction builds between Cassia and Ky and Cassia is torn between the boy that the society has chosen for her, and the one whom she now starts to feel is her true match. -Cassia's eyes start to open and she sees that what the society is doing is not normal. She tries to rebel, but the hold that the Officials have on the people is very strong. Her grandfather, though, impressed on her not to give in. The poem that he had given her had the line "Do not go gently into the night", and he wanted her to remember that and to let that guide her, so that she would stand up to the powers that stripped the people of their free will. -Interesting concept and has elements of 1984 and the Hunger Games. You feel for Cassia as she slowly tries to break out of the mold that society has cast for her in order to set her own path, and save the life of the boy who she feels is her true match. Recommended but this is just book one of a three book series.

Why is this so good?. Every time I read it, or listen to it, it makes me feel inspired. This goes into such great detail. No matter the year this series will ALWAYS be my favorite. It makes you connect to the story. Although we don't live in that society, we have or will all go through a heart break, I personally asked myself what it would feel like to know who that perfect person is for me, wanting to know. It makes you want to put yourself out there and accomplish a lot by yourself. Not with any help. If you liked this book you will love the rest. It is amazing.

This book was really horrible.. In my opinion it was SO boring. There was no point to it. The story plot was going no where. It had NO drama or suspense what so ever, NO action. The only reason I kept reading it was because I paid money for it but honestly this book is the most horrible book I've ever read in my 18 years. Literally the plot had no point to it and she talked about the most irrelevant things.i did not enjoy it one bit. I thought this book was gonna be different. I really tried liking this book but it's so bad.

Stop obesing about Ky. Why does she have to be all over ky

AMAZING. I recommended this to all of my friends and we all loved it!! Pulled me in and drove me to read the next book

AMAZING. Five stars is not enough

Amazing read. Matched by Ally Condie was an amazing book. By far this is my favorite book trilogy and I had nothing bad to say about it. The story is about a love triangle. I rarely care for books with love triangles or books that have sappy stuff, this was amazing and I could not put it down.

so good. I loved this book so much. It was well written. Kept me interested the whole time. Can’t wait to start part 2!!! Highly recommend this!!!

Best book ever. Can’t wait to read the next two! Amazing full of action and fun!

Great book. I loved the end of the book. It got so much more interesting in the middle of the book. I would highly suggest this book for anyone who like si-fi or romance. I only hate that it ends with a cliff hanger. Over all it was a great book.

Great!. Right away I can tell you it was not a action book. It was great though! It was very poetic and different! It was a big change. I cried just because the world was so cruel The romance was amazing and sweet! The ending was shocking and great! I love Ky!

Too obvious. It was very predictable and not very interesting.

Eh. Decent writing but I HATED the plot ... ended up finishing the series bc I can’t not finish a series I start but yikes I was angry the whole time. The series doesn’t end well IMO either.

Matched. This book was not good at all.

A MUST READ. this book is gourgously written, and it tell a tale of a girl who rebells agains her own soceity for a life she could of had, if she had a choice. and its reallys such a beautiful book and i look forward to reading crossed, the sequel. its one of the best sci-fy/love/adventure books i’ve ever read

it's ok. it was pretty nice to read at the beginning but all I got was a love story that I've seen many places but it's not bad

one of my favs book ever!!!!!. the best of the best

Amazing💗. I could not stop reading, it was the best book I read so far!! Can't wait until reached, u have to read this!!! It had romance ( which I dont like) but I loved it! It was passionate and forbidden and not to much romance though if you don't like it! Read it!!!!!

Omg. I love love this book can't wait to read the sequel crossed!

Love it!. I bought the paperback edition, and it was great! The setting is very unique and make you think of what's to happen in the future. The connection between Ky and Cassia is really strong. I just read Crossed, and can't wait for the third book of the trilogy (:

Matched review. It was a good book, but the ending got boring for me! I'd recommended this book

loooooooooooooooove it! <3. I fell in love with this book! It was really interesting to read and had enough going on in the book to keep me reading. I love the seris and have even pre-ordered the third book. I would really recommend this book.

I love it, can't put it down ". Best book since the hunger games series and the selection series! I would say it is for ages 10+ (mature children) great book!❤️👍😄😀😃

One of the best. After just finishing the hunger games trilogy, I honestly doubted I would ever find a book as good as those. So when I heard about Matched and the great reviews it's gotten, I was naturally excited. And no, I was not disappointed ;) loved the setting, plot, everything about it was great. Only thing i thought of is that all the reviews had commented about how 'romantic', love-triangly, and loveydovey it was, so I prepared myself. So far, I haven't seen any of that. I'm not much of a fan of romantic books in general but I braced myself for this, and didn't get what I prepared myself for :P well, I've only gotten thru about half the book, so maybe there's more coming, so stay tuned. Recommended!!:)

Fantastic!. Best. Book. Ever. That's all I can say. It's "The Hunger Games" on the next level of addiction.

Awesome!. It's a very well written book :) I loved it a lot!!!....... It was just a tiny bit strange to read... Since my name is also cassia!

Amazing. This book is full of romance and action. It's a total must read

I HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO FINISH READING!. the author does a horrible job of making Ky sound dreamy. There was no suspense at all! in the end you already know that Cassia is going to end up with who. The description on the back of the book clearly states that Cassia is in a love triangle but Xander has lost already! She already fell in love with Ky. How is this a love triangle?!? THIS BOOK WAS NOT CLOSE AS AMAZING AS EVERYBODY SAYS IT IS. IF I WERE U I WOULDNT READ THIS BOOK. ITS A WASTE OF TIME. I HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO FINISH IT.

Get it. Even though I got the physical BOOK and not the iBook I loved it its my new number 1 book and if you like hunger games you will love this book
