Lots of twists and turns!. I really enjoyed this book! A book about a woman in a logging camp was very different. I enjoyed learning about logging, the men and how they lived. Looking forward to the authors next book!

The Measure of Katie Calloway. I love reading books that tell me about times past, how women/men were able to survive and come out a winner! This was a great story and I couldn't put it down. This was the very first book I have ever read about a logging camp and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Speechless. Was so interesting I hated to leave the book all it kept saying was just read a little more if you want to know aside about all the things that happened in long ago times this one. A wonderful, educational read. I loved this book! The story was engrossing, the characters well-formed, and the amount of background and logging technique was astounding. I despaired of finishing it and having to say goodbye to these people of whom I had grown so fond. Might a sequel to Katie's and Robert's story be in the works?

Total Debauchery of History. It is true that the writing of history goes to the victors. This novel repeatedly displays the Civil War as a war against slavery. In fact, the Corwin Amendment gave the south rights to slavery prior to the Civil War. Yes, please google Corwin Amendment to see this info. This was a war over states rights not slavery as this novel was portrayed. A gross misinterpretation of history and utter ignorance and bias on the author's behalf. Wish I never downloaded!

Measure of Katie Calloway. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love reading stories that have roots from history. Serena Miller characters were so real that I could not stop reading until I knew the wonderful ending. Thank you for writing this story and for entertaining my mind with lumbering in Michigan and with Katie who was a true lady of grace.

Kate Calloway. I didn't exspect this book to mesmerize me. But it did. Kate was a broken women until she became camp cook at a lumber camp. She found the life to be the best thing to ever happen to her and her brother. And she found the boys to be much more than she expected. Especially Robert the camp owner and his children. But her past had to be brought out and if the camp boys and Robert hadn't protected her she would be dead

Not a romance novel. All this book talked about was the food Katie cooked and how logging worked. There was not even a semblance of a love story. I don't know how it could be labeled as historical romance. At the most it's an illustrative history book.

A read that I don't want to ever forget!. Amongst my favorite books ever, right up there with Pride and Prejudice. The main characters in the book are examples of Christian values and lifestyle that inspire the imagination and encourage personal resolve. I hated for the book to end, longing to continue my association with them!

Great read. I can just see the hardships of the days, you make it feel so real. Working in isolated areas milling the trees. The camp and people coming alive, the way you have written it. Katie and Robert finding love, with a new family around them. Nice touch the slaves having a win. I love the stories with so much truth in the history.

Delightful. A well written story with wonderfully detailed characters who were a joy to know. Thankfully it was not a soppy romance.
