The #1 New York Times Bestselling Series!

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth's fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She's a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world's future.

Marissa Meyer on Cinder, writing, and leading men
Which of your characters is most like you?
I wish I could say that I'm clever and mechanically-minded like Cinder, but no—I can't fix anything. I'm much more like Cress, who makes a brief cameo in Cinder and then takes a more starring role in the third book. She's a romantic and a daydreamer and maybe a little on the naïve side—things that could be said about me too—although she does find courage when it's needed most. I think we'd all like to believe we'd have that same inner strength if we ever needed it.
Where do you write?
I have a home office that I've decorated with vintage fairy tale treasures that I've collected (my favorite is a Cinderella cookie jar from the forties) and NaNoWriMo posters, but sometimes writing there starts to feel too much like work. On those days I'll write in bed or take my laptop out for coffee or lunch.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which character from Cinder would you want with you?
Cinder, definitely! She has an internet connection in her brain, complete with the ability to send and receive comms (which are similar to e-mails). We'd just have enough time to enjoy some fresh coconut before we were rescued.
The next book in the Lunar Chronicles is called Scarlet, and is about Little Red Riding Hood. What is appealing to you most about this character as you work on the book?
Scarlet is awesome—she's very independent, a bit temperamental, and has an outspokenness that tends to get her in trouble sometimes. She was raised by her grandmother, an ex-military pilot who now owns a small farm in southern France, who not only taught Scarlet how to fly a spaceship and shoot a gun, but also to have a healthy respect and appreciation for nature. I guess that's a lot of things that appeal to me about her, but she's been a really fun character to write! (The two leading men in Scarlet, Wolf and Captain Thorne, aren't half bad either.)

New Favorite Series. My science fiction teacher my senior year of high school two years ago made the whole class read this book. I was definitely not excited because I was a girl who was not into fairytales growing up. Oh my gosh was I wrong. I loved this book so much that in the week or two it took us to read through Cinder and do book talks, I went ahead and read the rest of the books! So I had known what was going to happen before the rest of my entire class. Everyone else enjoyed it too! Even the boys. I feel it’s about time to read through them again. 😁

This book was so good!. I enjoyed reading this book, the characters and the plot is well thought off and it gave a nice spin to the original story of Cinderella by adding in alien aspects to it. The reason why it’s not 5 stars is because there were a few chapters that dragged on or/and didn’t feel as interesting and essential to the plot.

Originality Unmatched. The originality of this book is unmatched. It came out of left field and I never saw it coming. This book is one of a kind with a story bringing together cyborgs, humans and aliens. The truth is out there people and it is that this book is a must read. Although we do not intend to make a habit of reviewing mainstream books, such like this, we felt this book was too good to pass up recommending to our amazing readers. I really loved every aspect of this book and certainly would never have dreamt up the setting, characters and mainly the plot line. It is an ingenious mix of new and old. This book captured my attention and reeled me in for the long haul. I will be finishing this series. I had picked it up in between books we had been reviewing for a bit of a change of pace and found myself obsessed to find out what would happen next in the crazy world of Marissa Meyers The Lunar Chronicles. I haven’t picked up a mainstream book and thoroughly enjoyed it in quite some time, so I feel that warrants some change.

😱❤️❤️❤️. literally one of the best book series i’ve ever read. if you liked hunger games, divergent, or the selection series, you need to read this.

LOVE. This book is SO GOOD! 10/10 would read again and I love the entire series!!

Loved it. This is a wonderful twist on the typical Disney characters

Loved it!. Picked it up every night before bed until I finished!

Amazing. Finish the whole series, one of my favorite of all time. Each book had me wanting to read the next

Cinder. Cinderella with some science fiction and much more exciting then Cinderella

My favoritte series at the moment. I read this series in middle school and automatically fell in love! Now I’m a high school junior and have been reading the series again this whole week. I really love all the characters and their development through each book. I’m an artist and my current obsession is making fanart each character and scenery!!! Thank you Marissa Meyers for bring this beautiful book to life. :)

❣️❣️❣️. They need to make this a movie!!! A classic fairytale retold in a sci-fi way!

Awesome!. Amazing charactors, great amazing everything!! Defiantly good if u like twisted fairy tales, or any genre for that matter! Amazing read!

Amazing. This series is phenomenal! I enjoyed the whole story line it was interesting from start to ending! I really suggest reading these series if you’re into the fantasy.

😰. I am so sad because I am writing this book and I'm half way done with her last book, Winter. I really loved Cinder. I was totally screaming in exasperation when Kaito thought Cinder had tricked him into falling in love with her. GRRRR! But their first (real) kiss is awesome. (Sorry guys it's not in this book!

Amazing 🤩. So, my friend recommended this series to me after I read Wings Of Fire (recommendation for thrill-loving readers) and I love it! I’m exited to read Scarlet!

Cinder. So good! I bought the next book right after I finished the first one!! Recommend it to all my friends.

Best Book I’ve Ever Read!. This is my absolute favorite book series, and an exciting ride from start to finish! I read “Cinder” for the first time when I was 15, shortly after it came out, and still remember the anticipation waiting for the next installment. Even now after have read them over and over, I will still stay up all night following these characters on their adventures.

‘Nightmare’ Nova Artino. In January I read Cinder as my free read in school and all my friends were reading the series. Of course I wanted to be involved in the discussion of the series at the lunch table, but I hated reading. So I checked out the book from the school library, and once I got out of school (my bus was normally 45 minutes to an hour late every day) waiting for my bus I started reading Cinder. A few days later I finished Cinder and I literally was craving the next book; Scarlet. That’s when I fell in love with books since then I read almost all of Marissa Meyers books minus the graphic novels and 50 plus books (most of them have more than 400 pages). She will be my favorite author until I die. I have no idea what I would be doing if I had not read Cinder. I give so much thanks to Marissa Mayer she is the one who gave me a passion for books, and I can’t stop freaking out how much my vocabulary expanded, and my writing skills. I was in 7th grade at the time and one of my teachers joked that I was addicted to books, like it was a drug. I can read a 500 page book in less then 12 hours, which is why I read the Lunar Chronicles in less than a month. Again I cannot thank Marissa Meyers enough for writing these books and making me fall in love with books, also live a million lives in my life. Humans can work magic by writing books.

Serious. Very, very special book. The series is so intense and beautiful, that I just can’t put it into words. I will tell you that it is a MUST- READ if there ever was one. I do, however wish that there was a bit more to read at the ending of the final book of this series. But I loved it. 🙂

Loved it SOOOO MUCH. I’ve always been in love with Sci Fi and Fantasy books and so when I came across this book it was perfect. It has an amazing addicting storyline. I saw the book a few years back and wasn’t very impressed with the other cover so I didn’t read it. But then I was recommended the book and I thought to give it a chance and I’m so glad I did. I’m about to finish the series and I’m sad it’s ending but it was a such an amazing adventure, I’m happy that I got the chance to go on it.

Cinderella story. What a fun and imaginative take on a Cinderella story! Complete with an evil queen, cyborgs, a wicked stepmother, a plague, and a handsome prince. This was a reread but my first read was years ago. I forgot how much I loved it! I loved figuring out Cinder's history with her and the romance element added the cherry on top! 5 stars. :D

Great start to a series. I loved this series! I love twists and modern day spins on fairy tales-so this was a perfect combination of that. I liked the balance of action and the love interest. Easy and fun read. I thought the villain-type characters were great.

Love it. It was perfect mix of futuristic and fairy tale past. It always keeps you on your feet. Every page fills you with emotion wether it happiness, frustration, sadness or etc.! Only part I don’t really like is a super minor detail her hair should be at least a dirty blonde or mix of blonde or brown. I mean it’s Cinderella but that is my opinion.

PLEASE READ MARISSA!!!. Omg omg omg Marissa!!!!! Please read this I have so much to tell you!!! I know I’m only 12, but I cannot stop reading this series over and over. I’m obsessed. Because of you I got a better vocabulary. I feel like these books where made for me. You are the best writer ever!!! You’ll be my favorite till I die. Now I am writing my own books, using your ideas. Not exactly writing in the way you write. I soooo hope you write run offs, like Kai and cinder having kids or something. In the future of course. Juuust know you might see my name out there somewhere. Maybe I’ll even meet you. If I write good enough books and sing good enough songs. Yup that’s right!!! I’m writing my own songs. I hope to meet you one day and show my books to you. Keep doing what your doing in the awesome way you do it. Thanks so much for the books, you have helped me a lot through 7th grade.

AMAZING!!!!. It is scary with some love ❤️ and spoiler alert the part about the plague just makes 1000 times better.

a must-read. my cousin got winter as a Christmas present, and i remember them telling me, read this series now! it ended up taking me a month before i picked up cinder, but I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. that was the beginning of an obsession that has lasted for 2 years so far. it’s amazing if you like fairy tale retellings but with a twist, in this case, Cinderella is a cyborg girl living in futuristic Beijing. it is so so so good, and honestly off of a scale of 1-100, 1 being the worst book ever, and 100 being the best book i have ever read, i would probably rate it a 99. absolutely stellar. (haha lunar puns) i have many favorite parts, but the one that sticks in my brain the most is when (and if you haven’t read Cress yet, go read it now, because SPOILERS!!!) okay, ready? last warning….. CRESS SPOILERS AHEAD!!! don’t say i didn’t warn you……. one of my favorite scenes is when cress and thorne are in levana’s palace, and thorne sacrifices himself so that cress will have a chance, and cress gets caught a bit later, and as the guards close in and the chapter ends, cress thinks: at least we were heroic. anyways… 11/10 would recommend! okay i’m off to go read the series for the 4th time! go read it yourself if you haven’t already and even if you have go reread it, it is JUST. THAT. GOOD. oky bye! ✌🏼

A must read series!!. These books were among the best series I have found. They were very interesting and suspenseful. They take you on the journey of a cyborg girl who doesn’t fit in. She is a very relatable character who is a little different from normal. It’s a dashing story with glimpses of what bad leadership and hard choices have to be made. It’s a very thought provoking series with a little bit of bitter sweet love. There is something for everyone to love about the series! I would recommend the series for around sixth grade.

One of the Best. I have always loved reading and this may have been my second time reading this book but it was as good as the first. As you read through this story the images are so vivid, emotions so raw, and action so breathtaking that it draws you in until you can’t help but flip to the next page without any hesitation. It transports you into a entirely new world so naturally you barely notice the other people around you. I have read many a Cinderella story and this is by far one of the best. This entire series will leave you begging for more.

It’s. Just. Awesome.. Can I just say something? Marissa Meyer is a hecking genius. This book has just the right amount of romance, action and plot development. If you are 12 *or older* you can easily understand the complexity of the storyline, cherish the innocent, playful romance and enjoy the action (although there is more of everything as the series goes on). I enjoy how easy it is to get into. The story was so well thought out and yet you can still understand what’s going on. I think it takes a certain talent to do that. Also, might I add, that I was so thankful to not *really* have to worry about any love triangles. Those are annoying as heck. (especially when who you’re rooting for becomes some uncle-type side character in the end... flipping tragic.) You know who to root for throughout the book and bOY do you ship those people. Overall, I *highly* suggest this series to ALL book-lovers everywhere. Everyone should read this. ... And absolutely anything else Marissa does because, honestly, she is a legend. Now go forth and enjoy my fren.

Cindertastic!. I absolutely loved this book. I totally connected with the character and it was an excellent but subtle spin on Cinderella. Hope you enjoy! Also I would recommend the other books in the whole series. Really good. Just make sure you read it in order!!

ASDFGHJKL YES. This series is my e v e r y t h i n g. Intricate plot, well thought-out world building, and phenomenal characters. There is careful consideration put into every detail but it’s not overwhelming because it’s all implemented so subtly that the symbolism only dawns on you later and makes you want to reread it to feel the satisfaction. Do yourself a favor and READ IT! You won’t regret it!

OH YES. I recommend this saga to everyone who loves adventure SOOOO GOOOOOOOD

A total dream for a bookworm!. The first time I heard about Cinder it was from my friends who were reading it. I have taken reading suggestions from them before and have not had a single regret. So, a few days later, I got the book on my device and started reading. All I can say is that it was like stepping in to a alternate universe, where the world is action packed and absolutely amazing! I had a lot of school, but tried to read whenever possible. This is just a completely brilliant story of incredible characters! I can’t wait to get the next book!📚😍

Love these books!!!!. A must read!!! Love them!!!

I love it. Omg I freakin love this book and every book in this series I have read all of them definitely recommend it you will love all the plot twists the romance the suspense and tension all of it READ IT ITS BOM!!!!!!!

A MUST READ!!. It all started in the school library... my class HAD to pick out a book even if we weren’t going to read it. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading, but I was kind of getting tired of our small library. I picked out Cinder not expecting to LOVE it!! A great read for anyone 12 and up👍

Fantastic. I just finished re-reading the first installment of this series after reading it fully a few years ago and whoa, it’s still just as fantastic as it was before.

Loved it. I loved this book!! Although it was a bit slow in the beginning, the ending just completely changed the way I felt about the book.

MMMM......... The book wasn’t very interesting. It was also g; however, I am so happy I read the rest of the series because IT DOES GET BETTER.

BEST BOOK EVER. Most books I read have really slow starts but this one as soon as you start it, you can’t put it down!!! I’m only twelve and I flew right through it. I love Iko and Peaony sooo much!! As a total fan girl myself, I can relate to them like CRAZY!! And for all those Harry Potter people ( like me ) this is a AWESOME book because for a while, all I would read was Harry Potter but now I’ve read this, I have a whole different series to read. LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. Have fun!! —- me!!

SO GOOD!. This series is incredible and so unique! Romantic and action packed—it's just perfect!

Fairytale in a Sci-Fi Future. Someone once said that there are no new stories. Even Shakespeare borrowed and reimagined stories of old. Cinder is a fresh take on an often told tale and well worth reading.

A MUST GET BOOK. look.JUST GET THIS BOOK OK? These series r the best like I’m not kidding I would get though these long books non stop in DAYS. Marissa Meyer is true genius and amazing!

Fantastic book. This book is such an interesting take on a beloved fairytale. Cinder has so much character development and such a great sense of humor. Kai isn’t the average “Prince Charming” with blonde hair and blue eyes which only adds to the originality of the story. Highly recommend this book/series and will now be reading heartless (also by Marissa Meyer)

😱😱😱🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩. As a person who regularly reads books it’s sometimes hard for me to find a good read. When I found cinder I was skeptical because it sounded like another book I had read. I read cinder in a day and had to go out the same day to get scarlet. This series is one of the best ones I’ve ever read. I love Thorne! Cinder and scarlet are badasses along with wolf who’s kinda like a little puppy! Cress is a cinnamon roll and winter is amazing!!!! A must read series for sure!!!!!

The best twist to a fairy tale!!!. Ok at first I like ehhh this is too young for me but the more I got into the series I was like woahhh I don’t think a lil kid would understand much of this. Bc like the first book was good but the second one AMAZING. And then you get to the last one and it’s CRAZY gruesome. But the series was so good and a great place to escape to when you want to get away from the world. So when I finished I was like holy crap this is amazing and the second one was even better. It really was my favorite out of the whole series. The third one was kind of slow but I just love how it was like the classic fairy tale of rapunzel. And then last one was just a great ending to the series although I wish she could have done some more fairy tales. And of course I HAD to read the extra one: Stars Above. Which was also really good but OML, the little Android short story was so freaking depressing I cried (no joke I really did). And so yeah that’s my review on the whole series. If you are a person and are reading this then I highly recommend this series to you!!!!

SUCH A GOOD BOOK!. It’s like every Cinderella story but with twists! Super interesting and the best book I have ever read!

If you read one fairytale re-telling, make it this one. The story is enthralling and exists in a world so fleshed out I bet the author could tell you what scent of floor cleaning solution is used in the imperial palace and which brand is better for the tile. You can feel the anxiety and fear felt by the world in the wake of a terrible disease and looming threats of war, as well as the pain of their losses. The characters are genuine and have real flaws. Cinder is blunt and cares little for the conventions of a society that abandoned and abused her, while being heartfelt and allowed to explore her emotions. Thorne is the perfect swashbuckling pirate disguised as a raucous space cowboy, and shows over the series how important it is to rely on your friends in times of need. Kai shows the reality of having to continue living after the death of a loved one, even in the face of troubling circumstances and your own conflicts of emotion. Every other character in the series is unique and shows the reader strength, weakness, and bravery in the face of monsters (both physical and metaphorical).

Love, love, love. I’ve read almost every book by Marissa Meyer. I read the whole lunar chronicles series in one week. I loved them I suggest every book by her to other people. I also can’t wait for Supernova!!!! 😁😁😁🤩❤️

It’s OK. The book is a little young, but I love it! I would recommend this to a ten-year old.

Well-written. This is not the sort of book I normally read, but the cover caught my eye. When I read the first few lines I was pleased to see it was well written and instantly engaging. I read it in one day, and I look forward to the sequel. The character of Cinder is strong, likeable, and selfless when it counts. While the plot is familiar in a few key areas, I found it intriguing. The quality of the writing and the originality really drew me along, and made me want to share the book with my friends. I generally read apocalyptic horror, so this was a real departure for me. Highly recommended.

Nice read. Like the story and characters. Worth a read.

Fantastic and original. Didn't think I would apply these words to a re-telling of an old fairy tale. The author started a masterful tale set in a futuristic dystopia. I eagerly anticipate her next book and wonder how she will weave the various plots of both the old fairy tales and her new imaginative adventure story. Highly recommended.

Amazing. This book was captivating. It's definitely worth a read

😱. This is one of the best sci-fi books you will ever read. And don't get the name mixed up with Cinderella cause it's a totally different story. It's about a girl named cinder who kind of rules the world and so it's about her story. Highly recommended

Amazing!!!. This book is soooo awesome 👏 one of my faves.

Amazing!!. This book is Amazing!! I truly loved it and am looking forward to ready the next book . Once you read Cinder, you will fall in love!! This is definitely a must read story; it captures your attention. As soon as I got to Chapter 3, I knew that this book would become one of my favourites. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a bit of everything.

Amazing !. I would recommend this book to everyone! Cinder is the perfect mix of romance, mystery, fun and sci-fi. It is completely unlike anything I have read before! Full of well-written characters, futuristic technology, some laughs and some cries, Cinder is a book I couldn't put down and loved right from the beginning! I read it cover to cover, extras and authors notes included! I couldn't get enough! Off to buy the rest of the series!

The best remake / twist on an old story!. When I bought this book I was hesitant. Was it another failed attempt to rewrite the classic story of Cinderella ? Well readers, I am happy to tell you it isn't! First couple of chapters are slow. Due to my obsessive issues that when I start a book I finish a book; Thank goodness I did! Some of the basic elements of the real Cinderella story are in the book. But this book by far holds its own unique story of good vs evil with a futuristic twist! This book is great! I was hooked by the third chapter! By the end I was drooling for more!! If there's a second one I'm sold! I really hope this is a series! Great book, great story, great characters, and a totally NEW twist on the old classic! It would make a great movie too!! I would highly recommend this book!

Wow. When I saw this book, I was hesitant. I don't really like sci fi, but this book blew my mind. Read it!
