Ever since he can remember, Robin, child of Sir John de Bureford, has been told what is expected of him as the son of a nobleman. He must learn the ways of knighthood. But Robin’s destiny is changed suddenly when he falls ill and loses the use of his legs. Fearing a plague, his servants abandon him, and Robin is left alone.
A monk named Brother Luke rescues Robin and takes him to the hospice of St. Mark’s, where he is taught woodcarving and patience and strength. Says Brother Luke, “Thou hast only to follow the wall far enough and there will be a door in it.”
Robin learns soon enough what Brother Luke means. When the great castle of Lindsay is in danger, Robin discovers that there is more than one way to serve his king.

Good. It was a little boring in the beginning but it got really good
Old favorite steal teaching new tricks. Great story about overcoming handicaps—physical, psychological—also the social/cultural discrimination during the medieval period. A favorite during my childhood and now I will use for ELL students struggling with ‘inverse’ English in British Lit.
Great boook. The door in the wall was a great book, I had to read it for a reading assignment in school, it was a little confusing but at the end of the book was extremely happy. Overall this book is awesome.
Boring. This book is not a great book but if I where older I would be able to understand it and love it more. I had a hard time understanding and staying on track because my mind kept looking, thinking, and wanting to do something else. But now I see why this book is for younger adults but I do recommend this book for older girls and boys!
I don't know what the final door in the wall was. I had this as a reading assignment and the tell me "describe how these three accomplishments lead to 'the final door on the wall'. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL MOTHER F*****ING SH*** DOES THAT MEAN
