Another great read. In my opinion I loved the book. I always end up thoroughly enjoying every single book she has ever written and always look forward to a new story of hers. To me the story was beautiful - sure it may have been slightly predictable - but that's not why I read her books. These are not billed as suspense thrillers. The story is thorough, well written, poignant and moving. I cried and smiled and shared the story line with my friends - especially since something along the lines of the marine's story in the book is playing out now. Thank you Kristin Hannah - I love your Books and will be a loyal fan.

Soso good!. I just get Hannah! I’ve read every book and I love her. She tells every part of the story and allows us to come inside for a sit by the fire!

Amazing novel!!. This book was so touching.. I cried like I've never cried while reading before. each and every chapter had something to cry about.. Highly recommend it... It gave me a different point of view on our heroes. I thank all of my military friends as soon as I was done with the book..

Feelings are strong!. I love Kristen Hannah’s books. The characters come alive on the page. One small part dragged in the middle. However, overall, she made you FEEL the characters. Great writing!

The book was worth investing your time.. A theme that runs through many books is children, and I mean 30s, 40s and 50s years old children who completely fall apart when a parent dies (didn’t they see it coming?) Now young children is a different story. All children should be taught from an early age that everything is born, lives and dies. And yes, I loved my parents. If a child or grandchild dies, yes, I would fall apart, so i’ll just have to liken it to that. But this older book of Ms Hannah for 2.99 is an excellent deal.

Great Book!. Highly recommend this book. I felt like I was living their life. It is all so real and I'm sure there are a hundreds of military families fighting the same battle or one very similar. It truly touched my heart.

From an Army Vietnam brat. How awesome to read this journey to completion-to know you can not only survive but champion a new life after persevering through many challenges! Enjoy each moment of crying through this process and praying for all our military families!

Powerful story about love and war. Have the Kleenex ready... I could feel the emotions

Flat. I really wanted to like these characters but couldn't. Having been a military spouse it was impossible for me to believe a unit and a family could be so totally unprepared for a deployment. The husband and 12 year old daughter were simply horrible. I kept waiting for it to get better, but it never did.

Really hit home. Having sons and a grandson in the military I can see she really did her homework for this story. Her storytelling and the emotions were right on point.

A very emotional book. As a spouse of a National Guard soldier - I was very excited to read this book. It gave me alot of insight into what my spouse went through in Iraq because it is so hard for him to talk about it. Kristin Hannah did a very good job of portraying the conflicting emotions of a soldier home from a war most of us cannot even fathom!! I agree that you will need a box of tissues!! Thank you for a great book and can't wait until your next release!

May Be the First, But Won't Be The Last. First book I've read from this author, but I can tell you it won't be the last. What an incredibly story from beginning to end about such a huge issue that many of our troops are facing. Wonderfully written.

Book hangover. I just finished this fantastic story and cannot sleep it was that riveting!! Kristin Hannah, again, captures the reader and takes you on an adventure of which you will absolutely feel a part! As per her typical novels, Kristin Hannah created a masterpiece. HIGHLY recommended but have tissues handy :)

Good book!. As a young army wife, I was eager to read this book having just survived a very long year with my husband being deployed to Afghanistan. This book was hard to read, but in a good way if that makes sense. Kristin Hannah's portrayal of pre-deployment, deployment, and the after math that follows upon their return is a pretty accurate depiction. The reviewer before saying she thought it was not accurate to be that unprepared obviously has never lived through a combative deployment. It is ABSOLUTELY possible, no matter how many FRG seminars you go to, nothing prepares you for it. This book is absolutely lovely, beginning to end. I was in tears one moment and laughing the next. I love her emphasis on the real truth of PTSD, even if it was in an extreme case, and the effects it has on our heroes coming home. Read this, if not for a feel good family story, but for some small insight into the struggles 1% of Americans face so that you could have your freedom.

Good read!. This was a fast read, touching story. Found myself crying several times. Paints a very good picture of a female soldier!

Weak writing!. I really enjoyed Nightingale and decided to try another Hannah book. I was surprised that the quality was so poor, like a high school student's writing style! The plot was predictable, the characters were fairly hollow, and the linguistic quirks were irritating. Don't know where her editor was on vacation... She seemed to have researched just enough about this subject to think she sounded authentic, but it really fell flat. The story was a really good idea but the result, though there were a few touching parts, was just corny. And the 4/5 year old behaved like she was about 2, so that was also odd. Book fail all around.

What an incredible, moving story. I read a lot - at least a couple books a week. I honestly cannot remember the last time I read a book that moved me the way this one has. The relationships in this story were so beautifully fleshed out and described that this will stay with me as one of my favorite reads along with another of her books, The Winter Garden. Bravo!

Home Front. Loved the story of a mom called to serve in war time. A Love story of husband and wife finding love again after her service. Also the effects of PTSD after war.

SIMPLY AN OUTSTANDING AUTHOR. This book will grab your heart and won’t let go until the last word.

Home Front. This was a quick, engaging read that shed a lot of light on what our soldiers go through. I felt like Part 2 dragged a little bit and I really couldn't stand the daughters - their personalities were really over the top to me. Other than that, an emotional, worth-while read.

Only read some…. I read The Glass Case and it came with the prologue and first chapter of Home Front. It was amazing I can't wait to read the rest of the book!!!

Happy thru tears. I don't think I've ever cried so much while reading a book. But that's not a bad thing! I ended up caring about this family and their happiness. I found their feelings to be very realistic, even when I wished that they had better attitudes. I loved the book and finished it in three days!

Home Front. This was my first time reading Kristin Hannah. I was very impressed. I am Active Duty military and a mother of 3, I felt that Hannah completely captured the emotions I have dealt with as a military mom. I am hooked and will be reading more Kristin Hannah books!

Home Front. Great poignant read! I feel that every American should read this to appreciate the sacrifices that our military makes for our freedom and wonderful way of life. I did wonder at watching CNN as they have become so inaccurate and lame in honest journalism! Also I pray that our administration reads this in between golf, Hollywood extravaganzas and vacations to concentrate on keeping us safe and keeping our military strong...although I have no faith in him or his minions.

Homefront. What a great read!! A very realistic telling of life, love, and death! Great, great story!! Many tears shed at the end…so very good!!

Home Front. I loved the way that Kristin Hannah captured my heart and made it one with Jolene’s. I have not cried this much in a very long time. Even though my life has not included loss of the sort that Jolene experienced, I felt that loss sincerely. The story is believable and worth your time and tears!

A must read!!. Could not put it down! A must read for someone that has a loved one that has gone to war. I absolutely loved the friendship between the fly girls! A tear or two will be shed during the reading of this beautiful story.

Abolutely Amazing. This book was, as my title reads, absolutely amazing. I hadn't felt so emotional during a reading session in a LONG time. The author had me hanging on to every word. I literally did not put the book down until I was done. I truly wasn't expecting Joleen's reaction upon returning home. This book truly hit the nail on the head as far as the mixed emotions go. I can truly see how a family can be so unprepared for a deployment considering she had 12 years in and not one tour during her entire career. There is so much more I can say but not enough characters :) This has become a favorite and I've already purchased it for my physical library. This book was so well written.

Great Novel and A Must Read.. I just finished my fifth Kristin Hannah novel and am ready form number six. You’re an excellent writer in my opinion and this book brought my emotions to my throat and eyes! I’m a Montana farmer/rancher and we don’t Cry!! I never served in the Military and expected to be called during Viet Nam however the county quota was filled. I have always honored those that served and they deserve our respect. I was privileged to be a Companion to a Wounded Warrior at Quiet Waters here in Bozeman, Montana a couple years ago. Wounded Warriors needs our support whether you served or not. Thanks Kristin for this story of all the sides of war for both those who served and those at Home. God Bless our Troops and their Families . Don Bitz

Slow Start but a heartfelt story that pulls you in to the last page.. This was a difficult book to read being a military mom of three soldiers. It started off tedious but I found myself becoming very invested in the characters and their story. Kristen Hannah has a passionate dedication to her stories that truly shines in her ability to create an intimacy between her readers and the characters. She artfully sheds light on important topics without taking a hardline stance so it’s something you can read without the stain of political ideology that too often finds its way into many of the contemporary stores available today. Worthy read.
