Anthem (Ayn Rand) Book Reviews 2023
We transfer money over ā¬4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!
Ayn Rand is an amateur and a rube.. Once again, Randās flimsy ideology shows and ruins anything that could have been deemed great. Her time spent moonlighting as a āthinkerā was a waste, and her beliefs / opinions can hardly be considered as āphilosophy.ā This isnāt worth the minuscule space on you hard drive.
Breathtaking Journey of Self-Discovery. āWe sat still and we held our breath. For our face and our body were beautiful. Our face was not like the faces of our brothers, for we felt no pity when looking upon it. Our body was not like the bodies of our brothers, for our limbs were straight and thin and hard and strong. And we thought that we could trust this being who looked upon us from the stream, and that we had nothing to fear from this being.ā This story was breathtaking. In a dystopian society where mankind is only allowed to think of themselves as āwe,ā one man discovers the power of āI.ā A journey of self discovery and what it means to be human. A must read for anyone.
Okay. Very confusing book at the end it get kind of good
Wonderful. this book is wonderful. its full of great meaning and portrays its āmessageā beautifully.
Anthem. This is one of my summer reading books & I am glad it was , it as great ! I recommend everyone to read this book (:
Great book. Very enjoyable and entertaining book. The concept behind it is also genious.
Intriguing. This distorted view of a not so perfect society really makes you ponder what is truly important. Although I donāt entirely agree with Ayn Randās conclusions, it was a good, quick read. Her ideas align more with an eastern mind or Hindu way of thinking.
Strange. Ayn Rand expresses the journey from community to self. The journey is interesting but a strange wandering which avoid the ultimate truth that community is an accumulation of selves.
Someday this book will help save liberty. A powerful dramatization of the idea that to attain the values of life, liberty and happiness, each human being requires a morality founded on rational pursuit of self-interestāand accordinglyāa political system based on individualism; this is in contrast to altruism and collectivism, which contradict these values and therfore lead to their destruction.
Great. Despite other reviews.. Great book. Told a story. Had meaning. Proposed great questions. People with one or two stars need to stop being so judgmental. No, itās not as astounding as 1984 within this genre. But itās still a great read. I fully recommend it.
Childhood dislike. In terms of dystopian novels, this is still perhaps one of my lesser picks, itās dry, itās not as deep as I would prefer, generally all around mediocre
Perfect for our times.. In the days where we are constantly bombarded with āthe we is more important than the meā this is a great reminder of the little freedoms that are slowly stolen in the name of the Greater Good.
A demented mind. Rand self inserts and opines endlessly for the kind of fantastical island of a human she could never be.
Great. Like each book she wrote
Anthem. An interesting quick read that is relevant to the USA in 2015. Obama sets the nation's course on helping the poor, a noble cause, this book sets the course on man helping himself. Interesting read never the less
Anthem. Starts with promise, but ends up with pages of redundant pontificating.
Loved it. I loved the book, the ending was slightly predictable, but I canāt dock stars for it
Boring. This book was trash
Great book. I had to read this book for my Dystopian novel unit freshman year. It was good book. Taught me a lot with me actually realizing it. I would highly recommend.
COMPLETE GARBAGE. This is a TERRIBLE book. It's hard to follow, boring, and overall, bad. I. Just. Hate. This. Book.
Loved it. It is an amazing book. Itās short as well for those that donāt enjoy long reads
Truly an Anthem!. A must read. Compelling, thought provoking and inspiring.
A interesting read.. This book actually required me to read nearly every word in every chapter in order for me to even begin to understand what was going on- and I can't remember the last time I needed to do that to fully understand a book. This book requires a mind that isn't so closed or one minded. You have to be ready to be confused in the beginning, and piece it all together as you read through the book. Reviewers saying they couldn't understand the book or find have to replace the "we" with "I" in order to read it are telling me that they are incapable of thinking outside the box and generally speaking may be unable to read in a difficult, yet logical and intelligent manner. If you desire to read this book, be prepared to be confused at the beginning, yet understand nearly everything later. Also, please remember that if a book can make you ask questions that may not have a single answer to them, it's a very good thing.
Anthem. I love everything about ayn rand and her writings. She takes you deep in the story and leaves you wanting more. Canāt wait to by her next novel.
Not bad but not amazing. I like Ayn's writing. Being a Christian, I find her take on God perplexing but enjoy her take on the individual as well as her eschewing of the collective. Anyway, this particular book was interesting and I guess a wake up of sorts but it just didn't grab me like Atlas Shrugged which I couldn't stop reading. The protagonist is waking from a form of enslavement. I really liked the line about we a free until other men take that freedom from us.
Must Readā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøš¼š¼š. This book is a must read it tells a story from a whole different perspective of a world we could not stand a chance to live in. I think this is a terrific bookššššš
Awesome. It is one of the best books I have ever read
Amazing. Wonderful ideas about humanity, including the origin of joy, the importance of selfishness and ego, and plenty more!
Great. Awesome book
Anthem. This book is quotable, admirable, and relatable. Originally getting turned to Ayn Rand by Neil Peart (Drummer, Rush) I had yet to read her work. Let me make things perfectly clear, THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST BOOK I READ OF HERS. "Anthem" is a thought-provoking and heart-warming tale of individualism and it's importance in society. This should be required reading before finishing High School/prior to entering University. I can't stress enough the importance of this message. EGO. -Kellen Schomaeker
Ayn Rand is my hero!. One of my all time absolute favorites. So many beautiful eloquent quotes. This is a literary masterpiece.
Fat w. Love the band rush so we read the book and we love it
Great Read. Loved the short story, prime Ayn Rand. Donāt read the reviews below, they give away the ending, especially the one titled āClassicā by camerachic98 and the other reviewer that didnāt seem the grasp the literary form of the book.
Great book. Eye opening, and more relevant today than ever before. This book is a required read in my opinion, for anyone searching for actual knowledge in life, rather than the hogwash rhetoric that is being forcefed to them by the majority of the publications produced in todayās desensitized society.
Highly Immersive Story. I found Anthem when I was browsing the app for some good Libertarian reading, and Iād heard of Ayn Rand in YouTube talks and in articles, so I figured Iād search for her books. I dismissed Objectivism as some kooky reaction to the horrors of living in the Soviet Union(as Ayn Rand did). This book didnāt do much to dispel that notion, as thatās a fate similar to what the protagonist suffers, but it nonetheless laid out a case worth hearing for Randās philosophy. I added it to my library when I was about to go to bed, thinking I would spark my interest by reading a page or two and then Iād get to it tomorrow. That changed after only a sentence or two of reading. I stayed up later than I likely should have reading it, and I finished it in the same night. From the very beginning, it hooks the reader with the notion that the very composition of the text they are currently reading is a sin. They remain on that hook for the remainder of the text. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone(especially young people; I am one). It wonāt take much time to get through and it is free, so you really have no excuse not to read it.
Easy to understand why some people dont like it. Anthem is excellent for seeing how nuclear weapons can cause a regression in both technology and psychology, albeit it does go a bit far. The level of complexity is not actually as deep as some make it, but is rather quite simple with a slightly excessive amount of details in some areas. To put it down the basic plot; man lives in darkness, discovers a small light that can lead him out, the others try and draw him back, he escapes and attempts to spread the light. Reasons for people to not like this; overly detailed, exaggerated, or lacking in excitement.
Awesome Book!. This book is great if you like dystopias and satisfying endingsāŗļø It really makes one think about the world and what it would be like without electricity, in a non-utopian form of course!
Anthem. This book was seriously deep. I would definitely recommend reading it.
Anthem. Far and away one of the best books Iāve ever read. An amazing story of discovery and the human spirit. Beautifully written
A classic. A great book u should buy it
Rand. A little bit predictable, but a good read none the less.
Neato. Edgy
Anthem was phenomenal. Hands down one of the best books Iāve written with an eternal truth all must come to bear.
Anthem. Loved this book! Very insightful! Makes you think!
Anthem Review. The book is really good. But it is also confusing. But I liked it more than I thought I would.
Outstanding. This book is among my favorites
Anthem. My first Ayn Rand book⦠Fantastic! I look forward to her other works!
It's the greatest book. I have read some books that are dystopian. But this book have been the greatest out of all the books.
Read this book. This book is amazing! I loved it
Anthem. If you look up the word anthem it will honestly describe the book. At first this was just an English assignment, but it turned to be better than that. I really liked the book gets better around chapter 6.
