A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I read this little novel every year at Christmas! Other than the Story of Jesus’s birth, it is the best Christmas tale of redemption ever, pure fiction but gloriously told. You cannot read it without being enriched by its pathos and joy to carry you through Christmas time!!

Pretty good, but the pace is a little fast. This was a decent, thought provoking read, and I can see why it’s considered a classic. I feel that it’s a bit too short, though, at just over a hundred pages, and the pace is slightly too fast. I also have questions as to what led the main character to become obsessed with gain as a younger man. It feels like this was glossed over by the author, and I couldn’t find a clear answer later in the book. So, overall, I can’t quite give this one five stars, but please read it if you want a taste of the holiday classics.

Great Book. I think this book is marvelous. It is the must read book to remind people of what Christmas is really about.

A treat!. What a pleasure, what a treat to read A Christmas Carol aloud the fortnight leading up to Christmas to our 7 year old son. The language is fun and a bit odd for him, the pictures interesting, and he knows the jist already from the muppets version, so it was just a real pleasure for us parents to experience all the original language and not just the most quotable quotes! Lovely!!

I would read to my children. this beautiful book every Christmas Eve. Now I’m proud to see my daughters carry on the tradition with my grandchildren. This year my daughters and I are each reading a chapter with all 6 grandchildren on FaceTime. I can’t wait. Start a beautiful tradition with this beautiful heartwarming story.

Classic. For the last decade it has been a family tradition for me to read A Christmas Carol aloud to my wife the week before Christmas. It never gets old and remains a beautiful and timeless tale of redemption. God bless us everyone.

A Christmas miracle. This book is so much like the movie an I really like how the story is in general.

Still a classic but not that special. I was a little disappointed with this book this book was good but the Disney movie is better Why because I feel like that the Disney movie has more emotion than any other version

I read Dickens classic story every year. There is so much more to the story than you can get from even the best theatrical productions. More complexity and deeper meaning than can be portrayed in just a few minutes.

Every bit as good as ANY movie!. Every year, during the holidays, I watch one version or another, A Christmas Carol. Because it’s such a huge holiday favorite of mine, I will sometimes watch more than one, depending on how many of my favorite versions are on television. I love the 1999 TV adaptation with Patrick Stewart and I also think A Diva’s Christmas Carol is a great movie! Not very many years ago, I bought the book when I found it for sale in a thrift store. I loved it! Incredible story! What was even more awesome was discovering just how faithful the 1999 film version was! I’ll never stop watching the movies, but reading the book will be a Christmas tradition from now on!

A Christmas carol. I have had the privilege of reading this book and I have learned so much from it. We should not only be benevolent at Christmas but all year round and I pray also for the likes of “humbug!” Scrooge to be converted to Ebenezer not just at Christmas but all year long.

A powerful message. There is a lesson in this work, which teaches - never before encountered in another work in the same way - of eschatology with more than a little shade of darkness. Instead, the reader if he can create that sympathy, in truest sense of the word, he shall realise that the theme, which is the most obvious to convey the real theme is not its true one; but man’s awakening, as Scrooge has his from his slumberous past, might be said what underlies it, and moves us closer to that immanent message in all its pages. It is perhaps Dickens’ finest work and this will be realised if not for an ad captandum reading of the text.

Great book. A.Christmas Carol has always been a book I wanted to read and it has taken me. Within just 7 days before my 75th birthday to do so. I always enjoyed the film where Scrooge is played by that wonderful comic actor Alistair Sim, and other versions done by animation and have always been fascinated by the story. New iPad purchase has allowed me the privilege.
