Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich Book Summary

#1 bestselling author Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels are: “irresistible” (Houston Chronicle), “stunning” (Booklist), “outrageous” (Publishers Weekly), “brilliantly evocative” (The Denver Post), and “making trouble and winning hearts” (USA Today).

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is certain of three truths: People don’t just vanish into thin air. Never anger old people. And don’t do what Tiki tells you to do.

After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie’s bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton’s premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it’s on Stephanie to track him down. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape . . . or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive. Since the hospital staff’s lips seem to be tighter than the security, and it’s hard for Stephanie to blend in to assisted living, Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur goes in undercover. But when a second felon goes missing from the same hospital, Stephanie is forced into working side by side with Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, in order to crack the case.

The real problem is, no Cubbin also means no way to pay the rent. Desperate for money—or maybe just desperate—Stephanie accepts a secondary job guarding her secretive and mouthwatering mentor Ranger from a deadly Special Forces adversary. While Stephanie is notorious for finding trouble, she may have found a little more than she bargained for this time around. Then again—a little food poisoning, some threatening notes, and a bridesmaid’s dress with an excess of taffeta never killed anyone . . . or did they? If Stephanie Plum wants to bring in a paycheck, she’ll have to remember: No guts, no glory.

Notorious Nineteen (Janet Evanovich) Book Reviews

Going on too longI've been waiting for this book with anticipation. But, I'm beginning to think that this series has gone on far too long. I'm happy that Stephanie is with Morreli, but she really needs to cut loose from Ranger. If there is another book after this one, it needs to be a real page turner and Stephanie needs to grow up. I will say though, she seems to be using her head more than her hoo-ha when she has a decision to make. That was a good thing to see..Score: 3/5

DisappointingThis series is basically the same book nineteen times. I am beyond disappointed with this. I mean its been nineteen books and there is still no decision between ranger and morelli. It's just getting ridiculous. I thought for sure something would happen in her love life. But it's still just sleeping with morelli and kissing ranger. Seriously janet write a book where something actually happens in Stephanie's life instead of writing the same story. And the endings are always the same. This series started out good but just got to be repetitive and now I've lost all respect for this author for trying to keep this series going instead of giving readers a conclusion..Score: 1/5

Nothing NewIt's not a bad book but seems to be missing the witty charm and pizazz of the other books in the series. With the others I found myself laughing out loud and this one I didn't even chuckle. The Morelli v. Ranger situation needs to be resolved or heat up. It's getting old. I hope this isn't the last of the series as I've heard, because this was not the way to go out with a bang. I don't usually like it when authors change up their formula in a series, but after 19 Books I think its time to shake things up. Just a little. It's the same old stuff happening in a semi-new way (and I have read every single one of the plum novels). Was this book readable. Yes. Even kinda enjoyable. Worth the money I paid? Not so sure..Score: 3/5

Same bookThe best I can say about this book is it was better than the two before it. Wasn't sure who wrote those two, made up my mind this was the last one I would buy if it was like 17&18. However it's time for a change and for the characters to evolve into something more. These last books have lost the fun of previous books. Notorious NineteenI DID have difficulty downloading the book, which was very frustrating but when I finally got around to reading it, it was worth it! I laughed out loud many times while reading "Notorius Nineteen" and very few authors can consistently make me laugh out loud while also being entertained by a good story. Although some of the characters are very goofy, Ms. Evanovich manages somehow to make them funny and endearing while launching Stephanie from one disaster to the next often barely escaping with her life. Stephanie's desire to "do the right thing" masks her keen wit and terrier-like determination to get to the truth of each story. That she has hunks like Ranger and Morelli to occasionally bail her out only adds to the fun. I anticipate each new installment to amaze and amuse me and make my life seem quiet and safe, though slightly boring. I hope she never runs out of adventures!.Score: 5/5
