Requiem by Lauren Oliver Book Summary

The third and final book in Lauren Oliver’s powerful New York Times bestselling trilogy about forbidden love, revolution, and the power to choose.

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has transformed. The nascent rebellion has ignited into an all-out revolution, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven. Pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels.

As Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain of the Wilds, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. They live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

Loved it!:). Loved the entire Delirium trilogy! Requiem's ending though...I was upset over it. But other than that, best series I've read!!

Great!!!!!. Omggggg what a great book! SOOO worth the money

Great read. This trilogy was completely amazing and Oliver’s way of writing transformed me into the life of Lena, Hana, Alex and Julian. The ending of this book left me confused but also satisfied. I definitely wanted to know who Lena would pick, though I’m leaning towards Alex at the moment. The ending was a good conclusion and had a good moral, similar to the end of divergent. Lauren Oliver did it yet again!

Not as great as the others. To me this seemed unfinished.Who does she choose!?!

Requiem. I loved this series. I was looking forward to requiem so much. The ending to this was such a let down to me though...I'm a little disappointed.

Love it!!!. Unbelievable series!!!!!! This book makes you laugh, cry, and heart race!! Most of all you can't stop turning the pages. I fell in love with all the charters. Hope to see it one day on the big screen!!!

Loved it. Very good but wish there was more!

No Closure /:. Although I loved this book, I got no closure. I want to know what happens next. The are still so many questions left unanswered. I don't want to spoil the book so I won't say more, but that ending leaves room for at least one more book to bring closure.

Loved it!!!. I have been addicted to these books and the third one did not disappoint. It was amazing although I felt like the ending could have been a little clearer.

Great Series- Ending not so great. I really like the series and thought they were a good read, but I was disappointed with the ending.

BRO FHE ENDING. okay the book itself was great but the ENDING MY GOSH CAN I KNOW MORE? so alex and lena get back together, AND THEN YOU END IT. only reason im giving 4 stars the book was on point.

Really Enjoyable Reading. I work in the science field and by the time my workday is done, the thought of picking up a book that’s a biography or a journal is unbearable. I’d rather break away from reality and this book did a great job of pulling you in and letting you really dig into the story. Thanks for helping forget about the day and unwind!

Wow. I wasn’t expecting to like the series as much, but I did. The plot in the beginning didn’t seem appealing to me, but I read it anyway and it turned out to be pretty okay. The way this novel turned out wasn’t what I expected and it could have been better, but I’m sure others feel the complete opposite.

Excellent!!!. Great ending!!! Filled with excitement and constant action. Kept me reading till the end... The entire series was well worth it. Now to find another book this good

Ehhh. This was an okay read. I liked the first 2 books better. The third just seemed to drag on endlessly. Which is fitting since there really is no ending. The story just isn't finished and there's no resolution. Am I that disappointed by the ending? No. Truth is I had checked out of this story about midway. I found myself just skimming looking for actual dialogue rather than the pointless comparisons and flashbacks. Absolutely hated the chapters flipping between Hana and Lena. Seriously was there a less important person and storyline than Hana? First two books were worth the read, would not recommend the third.

Disappointed in the ending. I loved the first two books, very creative and refreshing to read something new! But, I was not impressed with the end of the last book. It felt off, like something was missing. Just my opinion.

The Ending :(. The whole series was good, but the ending of the third one let me down...A LOT.

Amazing!. This book was so amazing!!! I will never be the same again!!! This is officially my favorite series ever, which is saying a lot because i have read some incredibly good series. But this trilogy is my absolute favorite!!!

Loved the whole series.. Lauren Oliver has such a beautiful way with words and descriptions - she makes you feel like you are there, seeing, hearing, tasting, feeling everything the characters are. I would have written the relationship with Julian differently so that the love for Alex was stronger throughout - but that's just me. Great, great read. Sad it's over :(

Disappointed. Lena and Julian should have remained together. Nuff said.

Love/Hate. I have been reading the delirium series from day one. I got all books the day they came out. I fell in love with them and looked forward to these books more than anything for these couple of years. I have to say that I really did love this last book (requiem), I couldn't stop reading. I will be honest I was very disappointed in the ending. I felt lost. I felt like I was missing a few chapters in the end. I am heartbroken about some of the ending pieces of this book. I feel like I am not getting the full picture on what is happening. I feel like I have bonded with the characters and now I have no idea what's going to happen to them. I could seriously go for a short story about what happened after kinna deal... Or a forth book, something! Over all though this book, and this whole series is worth reading. On my top 3 favorite series of all time.

Unfinished :(. I read this series as a teen and wanted to revisit it. After finishing the last book, let me say what a disappointment! How are you going to amp up this huge battle and not even finish it! Why don’t we see what happens with the love triangle, why don’t we get a picture of what life is like after the wall comes down? So many unanswered questions, it’s like she got bored and was like you know what let me just end it right here lol.

Cliffhanger. The ending left you on a cliffhanger and is super disappointing and leaves many questions unanswered.

Requiem. The ending was a big let down, very disappointed. Loved the first two books and this one started out strong ten failed to tidy things up, loose ends everywhere. Clearly that's what Lauren Oliver was going for but it just feels messy to me. Disappointed she choose to end such a powerful trilogy this way.

That's the end???!?. LOVED these books and felt super emotionally invested... only to get to the end and feel like Lauren Oliver got tired and just phoned in the last few chapters. What happens with Alex/Lena? What happens to the remaining cities? Who steps up and takes Raven's spot after she is killed? What happens to Lena and her mother's relationship? What's next for Julian? Does his brain cancer come back? Does be fall in love with someone else? What is next for Hana?? So many more questions and it feels like Lauren Oliver FAILED her readers by leaving so many unanswered questions. I really hope she reconsiders making Requiem her last book and writes a follow up that ties off the MANY loose ends she left us with.

Requiem. Honestly- I hate cliff hangers. I hate them with a passion… and I would usually say I want a book to give me closure. I’ve never been okay with a cliff hanger before now. I think she did a GREAT job finishing this book. She left it with enough closure that I was okay with it, I have questions, but I also know the characters do too. I don’t feel like she left us with questions that the characters had answers to. Also- for all you review people who give spoilers… 😒😒 shame on you 😒😒 (also, my 5 star review does NOT mean that I agree with the main characters decisions haha)

Requiem. I was not as thrilled with this book as the previous two books. I loved pandemonium and I guess my expectations were high for this one, I felt let down in the end.

Amazing books!. Very good series I loved it more than divergent and that's saying a lot TEAM ALEX

Almost perfect. The conclusion to a story that fights for the right to love. I was all in for this book. It promised so much, and almost gave you everything. The characters were fantastic, and the build up reached its peak, and the Big Bang arrived. Some characters live, and others died. Minds were changed, and angst dominated everything in between. I really did enjoy this story...until it ended. It ended. You kind of get some things you wanted, but others you’re left with loss. It freaking ended! I feel like an epilogue was severely needed for this book. The ending felt unfinished, and left more questions than answers. I don’t feel anything was concluded. There is zero closure. This story and it’s characters have been thrusted forward into limbo Indefinitely. I almost want to write the epilogue myself, just to ease my irritated heart. So overall, the story was great. It was pretty fantastic, actually, but the ending doesn’t actually feel like an ending at all. It feels like I only got half of the story.

Terrible ending.. Absolutely terrible. This ruined the whole series for me.

PERFECT BOOK. PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER BOOK WITH THESE CHARACTERS I DONT WANT IT TO END

The ending?. I would have give in five stars but the ending was so disappointing.I read all three book in three day, so excited and then .......bam....it ends just like that. The big question is WHAT HAPPEN?? What happen the Alex-Lena-Jullian?? To Tach after Ravens death? To Hana?.....A huge let down, too much of and open ended book. I regret reading the series.

Perfect. It was absolutely amazing I loved it. I cried a few time but it was perfect.

Ugh, the ending.... Just like every other reader has posted below I must agree, the ending was just so disappointing! What a way to build up a climax throughout an entire series and leave it completely hanging and unfinished. Bummer.

The.. eeennd?!. This entire series had me obsessed.. OBSESSED! I literally never write reviews, but I had to this time. First of all, that kiss.. THE KISS! I knew Alex loved her, why did he have to be soo immature. It’s obvious he knows she loves him, but let’s be real.. we (even him) thought he died! He wanted her to live on & that’s what she did. She didn’t intend to find someone else, but trauma bonding is real! Lena and Julian went through some THANGS together. So here I am rambling, but the whole reason I decided to leave a review is because of the ending.. they start taking down the wall & then what? Is this happening in other states too? What’s happening to the zombies.. are they kicking them out of their homes? Did Lena let Julian down over Alex? Did tack know raven was pregnant..??! There’s sooo many questions that I need answers too! It would really be epic if Lauren put out just one more book to really give everyone the closure that we’re seeking. That’s is it, that’s all.. I’m out!

Ahhhhh :) great read!. Okay, many people were disappointed with the ending of the series but honestly I felt refreshed by it. Think about it, the whole thing was basically about making choices and living the way you want to. She left the ending semi incomplete so we, the readers, could fill in the blanks however we wanted, she gave us the freedom to do so which most authors don't. I thought it was fabulous and if you haven't read her other book Before I Fall, go do so right now!

Great Overall; TERIBBLE ENDING. The overall book was amazing, i enjoyed every minute of it, but the ending was a complete cliff hanger. However, since this was the last book, you NEVER hear the ending. Does she choose to be with Alex??? Do the resisters win the rebellion??? What happens to grace, Lena's mom and julian??? So many loose ends!!!! Please write a short epilogue Lauren Oliver!!!! There are too many loose ends.

Great!. I love this book, however I wished they're were Alex chapter's too; instead of just Hana and Lena. I also wanted to know more about the aftermath of the rebellion and how her life with ****(won't spoil) is.

Good but kind of disappointed. I really liked the first two books but this one was a little disappointing. I know Lena has to choose between Julian and Alex but I feel like how Julian was written he was just over looked for the most part. I also was disappointed in how Lena's story perspective ended. It was all built up then just kinda stops. I did enjoy how Hana's story ended. Overall I would recommend the whole series.

Mixed feelings. I’m 14 and every other review is older than half my age on here, but from an modern point of view, I think delirium was the best book. I was told to get a book for the dystopian unit we were going through and chose delirium immediately because of the description. But after that it just went downhill. Pandemonium was an opening for something, there were so many ways to finish the book but making a love triangle it felt so forced. I was extremely disappointed. And then requiem, I wouldn’t care how it ended if it had an ending . The ending was just her tearing down a wall like I felt like we could’ve gotten more. But I’ll give three stars since Alex and Lena are somewhat together. Too many holes; who did Lena pick, raven and tack, what happens next. This could’ve been the ultimate series this book could’ve been something extraordinary but it was nothing but a disappointment, an eternity of waiting for something good to happen and as soon as it happens the book ends. Lauren Oliver is an amazing author but this was an extreme let down of a book.

Requiem. I really loved this serious, I couldn't stop reading it! The first two books were great, and this one was too but, the ending was disappointing and it really left you hanging.

Great, however.... I absolutely loved this series. Read it in the matter of a few days. Definitely one of my favorites. However, I felt the ending was a bit of a disappointment. I've always been a strong believer, that a ending should have closure and tie all the loose ends of the story. This one did not. It left you hanging. I felt it could have been longer, or even continued on to be a 4th book. Other than that, it was fantastic.

LOVED IT!!- ending not so much.... It was a great trilogy, I couldn't put it down! The storyline is great and the characters are awesome! I was very disappointed with the ending. I guess I just wanted more closure. :/

Requiem. Very good, after delirium and pandemonium I wasn't sure it was possible to keep it up but this book did not let down. I was a little disappointed with the ending, I think the author should've elaborated more on Alex and Lena and what she was gonna say to Julian. I guess I have a good imagination and u sort of made a better ending in my head. Hope u can do the same. I also wish Lena would've found Hana afterwards and ran with her, if the cure didn't work so well but she was still cured that kind of makes it dangerous for her no matter who wins. Love this book and the saga. A must read for all dystopian fans, I stay up as long as necessary to read my books but not usually to read the trilogy. Pray my rents don't realize how much I'm reading.

Best book ever. I am sooooo happy about the books, the way she ended it was perfect. I was really glad Alex came back( he was my favorite). I only wish she would also right it in his perspective

Okay..... Im about to read this book read deliruim and pandemonium hopefully its good but according to the sample i can tell its gonna be a let down because of alex and everything else so sad :(

Wow. These books... Just wow I have never read anything like these they are more then amazing. The ending is chilling and freeing. These are my favorite books by far BY FAR. I will not be the same.

Requiem. I've read all three of the books in the delirium trilogy and loved them all, including requiem! Although it could have had a better and clearer ending, I loved it nonetheless.. However, I feel that after all the anticipation from pandemonium and wondering whether or not Alex would still love Lena, I guess letting there reader develop their own future for the two(plus Julian!) was a good way to go! Well done:)

Loved it...but still hated it. I kept hoping in this series there would be a couple stretches where the characters got to take a small break. Being locked in a cell isn't a break. It's being locked in a cell. A little kiss here, a touch there, a meaningful conversation had amidst chaos isn't a break either. From the end of the second book it's just a straight sprint to the finish. Never any respite or rest, just 'GO GO GO GO!!!' And there's hardly any love to the story anymore. It's just war and hurt and painful goodbyes and confusion. I had such high hopes for this series, I loved the first two books, and I loved this book. I just wish I felt like it gave any kind of closure, it didn't read like an ending. It read like someone was setting up the ending. So disappointing.

I loved this series!!!!. This series is one of the best I have ever read!! I don’t know if it’s possible to like a series more than I loved this one.

OMG I LOVED THIS SERIES. i was always incited in this series, never was bored, i will read and reread, never get bored. I CANT WAIT FOR THE MOVIE!!!

Love it!. I love this series. Just wish this wasn't the last one!!

Couldn't put the book...or iPad...down!. After finding out that the third book had come out finally I didn't waste any time buying it as an ebook. Finished it in two days and all I have to say is that fans won't be disappointed. It's full of romance and action, everything we hoped for. The love triangle between Alex, Lena and Julian isn't overwhelming and adds a lovely flavour to the book. In the end, the romance felt real, not rushed and satisfying. No matter what side you picked (Julian or Alex) there is something for everyone! The way it switched back and forth between Hana and Lena had me a little weary at first but once the action really started to roll on Hana's side I found her story extremely interesting and full of mystery, and I'm glad we get to see what life is like for the people on the other side of the border once they are cured. It brought a new insight to the book and made it twice as amazing. The series is one of my favourites ever and I highly recommend them to anyone who loves a good dystopian romance!

Delirium series. An Absolutely captivating series that kept me up at night!!! I loved the characters and the story line, nothing like you've read before, but the ending of the last book was simply too rushed, cliff hanger is an understatement!!! Either way, definitely a must read!!
