Fever by Maya Banks Book Summary

In the second novel in the Breathless trilogy—now celebrating its 10th Anniversary—a woman's undeniable allure takes a dominant man completely by surprise...

Jace Crestwell, Ash McIntyre, and Gabe Hamilton have been best friends and successful business partners for years. They’re powerful, they’re imposing, they’re irresistibly sexy, and Jace and Ash share everything—including their women.

When they meet Bethany, Jace begins to feel things he’s never experienced before: jealousy, and a powerful obsession that threatens him, overwhelms him—and excites him beyond control.

Jace isn’t sharing Bethany—with anyone. He’s determined to be the only man in her life, and it’s jeopardizing a lifelong friendship with Ash. Bethany will be his and his alone. Even if it means turning his back on his best friend.

Okay. the first book was acceptable... (3 stars) barely.... I just find it annoying that there isn't much dialogue. she's mainly retelling every single OBVIOUS thing after every person speaks. like shut up!! let them talk. it's obvious we know what they're thinking, how they're feeling. it's written on every single page how they feel, and it's never a different feeling!! I've heard Maya is a very good author... maybe I just grabbed the wrong series, and she rushed it or something. but I honestly only continue to read this book because I wasted my money on it.... and because I'm curious. even though it's pretty flat out stupid, I'm still so curious lol. don't get me wrong, I'm a SUCKER for love stories (all I read actually). Jace and Bethany's story is nice, just could've been told better. more dialogue, less explaining.

Ugh... very disappointed. Both characters were so dull and stupid. I hope in the next book both character will be stronger and more interesting. The story line was as dull as the characters

Amazing!. Loved It!!!

Amazing!. Loved it!

Not what I had expected. Bought this thinking it was a cute, chick-lit type of book. Instead it was graphic sex with a weak storyline thrown in. Now, if you like that type of book, you will love this. If you prefer more Sophie Kinsella, Emily Giffin types of books -then you will want to run the other way! Can't believe I blew $10 on this crap.

Rush. Good book

Love it. Love it

Worst book this year. Trying to get through this book was like trying to run in deep mud. It dragged on and on with predictable, thinly written plots and characters that eventually had me skipping pages just to get through it. The first book was decent & there was at least somewhat interesting/entertaining. This book is a flop & a waste of time.

Rolled my eyes like a million times. Seriously? Is this what people like? I preferred the first book honestly this was too much in all ways. Menages are not for me definitely but Bethany was just sooooooooo submissive and naive and stupid i just couldnt. No way.

Good. It was a good story but I enjoyed Gabe and Mia's story more. I'm looking forward to reading about Ash next.

Wonderful. It was an amazing book, can't wait til burn comes out.

Loved it!. This series so far really had a lot of "wow" moments for me great books! I Hate The last book doesn't come out all the way until August!

Seriously?. Was looking forward to this book after Rush, but it was so boring. The dialogue made me want to pull my hair out. The story line seemed to drag on and I couldn’t even finish the book.

Don't think so. If this is worst than Rush, then I'm definitely not wasting my $9.99! Thx for the honest reviews :) I mean I don't mind a little erotica in a novel but there must be a STORY. You say to yourself it can't be that and buy the book...only to discover that yes, it is very BAD!

Great book!. Gabe's story was awesome, but this one topped it!!! I can't wait for Ash's happy ending.

Nope. What a waste of money!!. My review never posted so I am trying it again. However I will not bother with the details of the first one. Simply awful book. Don't pay for it. This is the first book I buy I'm not finishing...

Fever. Maya Banks can't write a bad book. It's just not possible. I love everything she writes. Just hate having to wait for the next book - really hate that.

Fever. The worst book I have ever read. Must have been written in a day. I almost didn't order it because the first book wasn't that great and had the corniest ending ever and I should have gone with my gut !! The book was all filler !! Hardly a story line at all !! Anyone could have written it!! Will never read another of her books bc of it!!

Unexpected and bittersweet. I was blindsided by this book. I started this series like I start any other book, curious and excited. I can’t think of any other book that has hit me so hard emotionally and personally. I have never related to a character more than I do to Bethany. I know how deep her shame of her past cuts, how painful it is to feel unworthy of love and have nothing to offer anyone. Her struggles are all too familiar. Her story is perfectly told and is giving me hope for my future.

It was okay.. I enjoyed Gabes story better. I just couldn’t with Bethany, she was too submissive and too naive for me.

Great book. Great book

Okay. The book was alright, very unrealistic and throughout the book it was very monotonous & very repetitive. Definitely not the best book she has written.

Gross and lazy writing.. All I kept thinking was Bethany needed a long hot shower all the time, since she was homeless. Could not get into this book. The dialogue was poorly written and short and the constant repetition of the characters thought process is annoying. I think we understand when you tell us what they are thinking 3 times, but the author keeps repeating herself over and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. I couldn’t finish this book, since Maya Banks repeats how they feel or are from each chapter. We get it, your readers are not stupid, they like a good book, but this one was lazy writing on the Authors part.

2 1/2. Not so good, sorry.....I read about two books a week, only felt the need to finish it because I paid for it. Ms. Banks needs to get a stronger story line, add some humor. Some of her other novels are better reads. Not sure if I'm gonna read the next one in the series.DW

Awesome!!. Loved it!!

i love it love it love it. happy ending .. and i cany wait for ash to find his love...

I like it. It was not the bad,,, it was ok

Fever. Bethany got on my nerves a little bit. I felt like majority of the time she was crying. I understand she had a difficult life and maybe had a little low self esteem, but I felt like the crying was so necessary. I like the plot though I thought it was really good and jace was sweet at times. The sex scenes were pretty hot better than the first book. I think it’s worth the price to read. Hopefully the last book is good.

Wow !!!!. Total loved it .... can't edit to read about ash next!

Eh..... The storyline does vary from the "rich control freak/doe eyed beauty" routine. That being said, it's a bit of a stretch. I mean seriously. Doesn't the homeless girl need a shower before hoping into bed with two rich and handsome hunks? The lack of pronoun usage gets really irritating and the constant repetition of how close the guys were. We get it!

Pronouns!. My review would have been better but I got so distracted by her lack of pronouns. It doesn't make it sound "cool" to say "going to make you happy". Use a pronoun!!! I had to re-read sentences adding the pronouns in to make the dialogue sound like it was between adults.

Loved it!. I read this book in 3 days! I love that Jace only wanted Bethany happy and he only had eyes for her. Such a good story and excited to read the next book!

Do not buy it!. This story was so awful. I don't know where to begin. I wish I could get my money back.

Fever. Liked so many things about this book, for instance, the friendship, the tight group, the tight bond among J,A,G, and Mia, the honesty, the frank talks, the fact that Jace found out early on the book he loved Bethany, the amazing support for one another, the fact that in fever all of the main characters were further developed and we learned more about them, I liked Gabe better in Fever. Did not like how repetitive the book was at times, I swear I read some of the same lines like 10 times! I felt Ms. Banks was trying to just make the book longer. I did not like the really weak heroine, the constant assertion to Bethany, it got tiring! And many times the book felt just simply sad!

Not worth it..... Starting with the first book ....in Rush... Gabe a strong sexy millionaire ... Lusting after his best friends baby sister... He was hot, taught Mia a lot and fell for her hard but didn't know how to handle his feelings for her. Mia inexperienced, much younger than Gabe but has had feelings for him for awhile.... Gabe made a mistake in Paris .. He came to terms as to why he made the mistake but still couldn't come terms with his feelings for Mia which lead to some heart break but in the end worked out wonderfully!! Now comes Fever and Burn ... The writer just threw these stories together without any thought... Made the heroes out to be wimps... The heroine for Jace was just a complaining female... She was ridiculous as was Jace ... Maya Banks could have done so much better for Jace.... I so looked forward to Ash's story and again it was a flop then Ms Banks did it again she made Gabe look awful... Ugh .. I was sooo disappointed with the sequels, do not buy them if you don't have too... Go to the second hand store for them ... Rush is the only one worth paying full price!

Amazing!!. Wow, what a story!! Could not imagine the life Bethany had! Poor baby! At least she had Jake to take care of her until she found Jase!! I mean who would not fall for a man like Jace Crestwell! Rich, powerful, gorgeous and all alpha male. This story is the true fairytale!! One some of us even wished to live for! So excited to see what the next book brings!

Not as good as first. Disappointing.

Enjoyed. Didn't get the chance to read the first book but very much enjoyed this one. Always love reading Maya Banks books its funny and sexy as hell. I have even gotten my friends in to reading hear.

Best of all. I am in Love please add to this story. Jace is a wonderful character please continue with more books my favorite author.

Wonderful! Unexpectedly so!. First, I have to say, I loved this book. Second, I went into it with low expectations based on some of the other reviews here. But I was happily wrong to have trusted them, because I loved this book way more than the first one! Having come from a tough background, I related a lot to Bethany. And I think some of these reviews were very judgmental of her being submissive, which is silly. Being a sub doesn’t mean you’re weak or don’t deserve to be respected. Submission requires a tremendous amount of courage and trust, and respect between partners. This was one of the better representations of dom/sub culture that I’ve ever read. It was emotionally intense, and dealt with some very difficult topics. If you’ve never experienced that kind of pain and finding the fortitude to keep going, you may roll your eyes at it. But this book was beautiful. Yeah, it’s a romance novel, but it was lovely and one of the more respectful romances I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot of them!). If you liked the first book, you’ll probably like this one, too. No need to worry about the other reviews. :)

Terrible writing and editing. Who talks like that? Real people certainly don't. The same cliche phrases (that no people actual utter) were used over and over again - sometimes even in the next paragraph! The first one was pretty good, this was just awful. I only finished it because I couldn't believe it wouldn't get better.

What the heck happened?!. I enjoyed the first book in this series quite a bit so I was looking forward to continuing on. Unfortunately this hugely disappointed. I only finished it because I paid for it. I just could not get into these characters. They both lacked substance and the storyline was really weak. Jace is the typical dominant gozillionaire male, and despite the author's efforts to romanticize him, she fails to create enough depth to his character and he just comes across as selfish and ignorant. As for Bethany, she is supposed to be so strong and tough from surviving on the streets, but ultimately she struck me as a weakling. Her inability to chin up and have a little pride made her almost pathetic. Both characters were just too flat and one dimensional for my taste. And the steamy stuff didn't make up for it either. The scenes were redundant and seemingly formulaic. So disappointed. Seemed like this was written by someone else altogether versus the first book in the series.

Jace!!!!!. Nice love story.

Fever. Oh yes!

Far fetched - homeless to wealthy :/. It was okay, didn't make me stay up late reading but I also didn't stop reading till it ended. I will also buy the next :)

Worst. Book. Ever.. I've read Rush, the first novel of this series. It was okay, but in comparison, waaay better than Fever. The book went on and on, did not keep my interest, and was super anticlimactic. It repeatedly abused and overused all of the romance novel clichés. I don't even want to waste any more of my time or energy to explain how terrible this novel was.

So bad. I don't understand how women can find men denigrating women so appealing.

Love!. Absolutely loved this book and this author! It's one of those books that you can't put down!

Didn't compare to RUSH. The first in the series, RUSH was SO good that I expected the same from FEVER. The book was too predictable. Glad I read it though and ready for BURN. Ash's turn at happiness.

Wow. This story had to be extremely hard to write. The homeless story, And life on the streets. I cried, laugh, and was totally into this story. On the book three to continue Mai and Gabe, and Jace and Bethany stories, but now see Ashes'S personality and multi stories in his life.

WOW!!!!!. Absolutely loved it!!! So HOT I may just have burst into flames :)

Oh My Word. Well, What a read! Loved it. Can't wait for the next one

Fever. So worth the wait

Disappointing character development. I really enjoyed the first book but feel there was a missed opportunity here. Jase appears to be a clone of Gabe and I was really looking firaa was Ed to getting to know Jade’s character. The book feels repetitive, lacks a decent story. I’m not sure I will continue to book three.

Oh My God. Head over heels in love with this book... It made me laugh out loud and made me cry. A page turner from the very start right to the end, didn't and couldn't put it down. A must read.. Thank you Myra for your amazing books

Not what I expected, but awesome... Really enjoyed it. Sat down to start reading a few pages and ended up reading the entire book.

Fever. Loved this book, a great read! Made me laugh 😆and cry 😪 Loved the characters, Jace and Bethany, but got soooo sick of the word BABY every 5 minutes! Geez 😝

Love it!!!. Read the first book, loved it and finished the second book in two days!

OH MY GOD !!!!!!. I only have three words , yum yum yum!!!

Another Great Book. Fantastic.

FEVER. Wickedly engaging characters, a sweet balance of fantasy and reality, Cinderella erotica. Bring on BURN and the undoing of Ash.

Dana. Excellent book thank you. Couldn't put down till end!!

Loved those three boys. From the beginning it was a major wow! Loved it. From start to finish hot hot hot but with some ups and downs of course making it a perfect novel......please bring burn out sooner!

Amazing. Great read. So romantic, couldn't put it down I would recommend this book to all hopeless romantics like myself.

Fever it is. Great read, great story ( just a little bit long in the mid part) but great end of story, counting the days until Burn. Poor Ash, cannot wait to see how his story goes.

Erotic. Love the story.. Love the erotic and sensual feeling she gets through her writing ! My husband is content seeing me read such good story that get me worked up for him...,

Fever. Way too much rambling, no guy talks that much about his feelings!

Do not buy. Worst book I ever read. Not as good as her first one. Wish I could get my money back.

Fever. Agreed. Way too much rambling

Amazing. I could not put this book down!!! I can't wait for the next book, I really hope it is released sooner!!!
