So-so. While not one of his best, I did enjoy it. Unbelievable? Sure, but then again...it is fiction. Nothing different than an action packed movie. Some reviews found it annoying, but I liked the ramblings of Ben.

Boring. I read all of James Patterson's books and always finish within a day. I bought this one and I'm only on chapter 15 and bought maybe two days. This guy David Ellis messed with Patterson's writing. It's taking me forever on this. Very boring.

Mistress. I love, love, love this book. James Patterson at his best. I eagerly await every one of his books and every time I expect a storyline about serial killers and that's what I get. This book surprised me, I normally turn to Robert Ludlum for stories of espionage not Patterson. You have proven that imagination has no limitation. I do not care about what other people say, this is one of your best works.

You. Yy

Don't purchase.. This is the most manic book ever. Had to stop reading. James!! What are you thinking????

No, no, no... Very disappointing.. I almost gave this book two stars only because the actual storyline around Diana somehow grabbed my attention and I mildly wanted to know what happened to her. But it just doesn't deserve that. Other than that, this is the most disorganized, manic, repetitive, delusional, grandiose, ridiculous, unbelievable, cheesy, irrelevant book I have ever read. To get to what I wanted to know, I had to trudge through page after page of absolute, headache-worthy nonsense. The main thing is that the book has a ton of potential to be good. What should be the focus of the book gets put aside because the reader is so distracted by the filler. Should remove that stupidity and just make it a novella (and make Ben a little less psychotic and invincible). Patterson, did you owe this guy a favor!?

Mistress. This book is not in the same catagory as the Quickie. I like Patterson's books in general. This book made my head hurt.

Not one of my favorites. Didn't enjoy this story at all. Way too unbelievable.

Decent read. Was pretty light reading. Mildly entertaining. Like able characters though.

Mistress. Don't bother. Annoying, boring. And I generally love Patterson's books.

So So. Half the book is spent inside the main character's thoughts which is really annoying! The plot is suspenseful, but predictable at times.

Rowling beat him to it.... A beautiful woman nose dives from a building...was it suicide or homicide? This story was done earlier this year by none other than J.K. Rowling in 'A Cuckoo's Calling.' While Rowling's version is much, much slower - it is written like a true classic novel. 'The Mistress' is really sloppily put together and not very well written. So if you want to read any novel involving a "suicide or homicide?" storyline - pick up 'A Cuckoo's Calling.' Sorry, James.

Mistress. couldn't even get through the sample!!! what an awful read.

Mistress. Worst book I have ever tried to read. Finally gave up halfway through it! Always anticipate the next Patterson book I can get my hands on. What a disappointment!!!

Suspenseful. Jim you did it again!!!!

Miss tery. I wish James Patterson would write his own books like he once did. This was his last chance. Nothing like his old suspenseful novels with twist and turns. Not a page turner. Only thing that still remands are short chapters. At the end I lost interest. Good luck, readers.

Mistress. Incomprehensible and annoying. James Patterson at his worst!

Disappointing. Collection of ideas from other books intertwined with political history trivia. Lacking in originality. Mr. Patterson sold out. Mr. Ellis needs to come up with his own story not borrow from others. The publisher would probably publish a book with blank pages as long as it had Jim Patterson's name on it. Very disappointed that Mr. Patterson would allow this type of work to represent him. I've always been a fan of his ORIGINAL works. Gets one star because half is not available.

Mistress. Stupid book. I hated it.

Imposter. Patterson is obviously lending his name to the coauthor to sell the book. What a mistake. Why put your reputation in the hands of another? This was about the worst book I have read in years. The continual movie and tv references was bizarre and quite annoying. Storyline was fragmented and totally unbelievable. In summary it was awful. I want my money back!

If your just trying to kill time, read this book. Not to say that Mistress was not a good book, it was decent and I did enjoy the writing, it's not mentally stimulating. There were many times I felt as if the story was just dragging on, and it was a bit predictable. The book was exciting, and I did enjoy reading it, but Mistress was more of a, I don't really want to think about anything and veg out and read, type of book.

Mistress. Very disappointed Hard time reading tempted many times to stop but kept thinking it would get better would not recommend

Mistress. Bad....just not up to par for Patterson. In fact, terrible, had to put it down. Awful!!!!!

Mistress. Awesome book, I was on my toes the whole time!! Love it!

Poor book. This book is filled with non-relevant quotes from movies or songs. The story is poor. It looks like it is filled with nonsense to fill up the pages. Save your money.

Summertime Read. 4 Stars. PPSR. Perfect Patterson Summer Read. Outstanding mystery with a completely impossible, unbelievable, crazy story. Ben is actually a good character. I could see him getting another story. I think this one’s from 2013 but in some ways was perfect for our world today. Fast and fun. Patterson’s stand alone’s can be the best read when you just want a thrill ride. This one fit that bill perfectly.

Mistress. I was so excited to read this new book. I kept waiting for a story to start. All I'm reading is a guy who talks to himself A LOT. Very little dialogue in the whole book. No true ending either. It's almost as if someone else wrote the book and used Pattersons name. Not a good read at all.

Frustrating Book. I'm a big fan of Patterson's books, but this one was awful. Must of been written by his co author Ellis, whose style in this book is the constant thoughts of the main character trying to be cute with movie and presidential trivia. Just when something was going to be revealed in the improbable plot, the author would go on a two or three page dialog of silly trivia. Waste of time and money. I read to or three books a week, and always finish the book, no matter how bad it is. I gave up on this when I was half finished and deleted it from my IPad. I'll bet James Patterson didn't read this book.

Yuck!. This book is terrible! Did Patterson write this for real? I've forced myself to read a third of it before giving up. I don't like the characters or the plot development. It's boring and a waste of time.

MISTRESS. This book was NOT written by Patterson. Can't believe he allowed his name on this book. All the ridiculous mentions to old movies, old tv shows old books etc, makes you realize that the current writer of this book just needed to fill up space. I did not start enjoying this book till about chapter 99.

Not Right!. J.P.'s name may be on this book, but there is no way this is his story. The movie/tv references throughout this story is maddening and amount to just filler verbal vomit. This book is just not even close to the quality and expectations that are usually associated with James Patterson's name. As a loyal and avid reader of all things James Patterson, I hate to say it, but I feel deceived and cheated by this purchase. Mr. Patterson, if your hearts not in it, please quit "co writing" and lending your name to lesser authors. You may think doing this helps other lesser known writers, and it may, but it is also helping people like me start to doubt whether I want to invest my time, money or energy in your future books.
