Murder in Half Moon Bay. It was an okay read. It had a lot of characters which was somewhat hard to keep up with.

Murder in Half moon Bay. The book was very good. Couldn't wait to see what happens next.

Good book. This easy read keeps you awake but does not stress you, either. Enjoy and take in the scents and atmosphere

Excellent. Excellent book. A must read for mystery book fans.

A treat for dog lovers. I have grand-dogs and there was so much dialogue and action that is exactly what my daughter does with her dogs. It made me smile. Thanks for that. I like this group of talented independent women that support each other so fully. There was a good plot with modern bad guys, believable interaction between the characters, and a very cute doggie sidekick. What’s not to like??

Unrealistic. I had high hopes for this book, but ended up disappointed. One, it was far too drawn out. 100 pages in and you're still not to the point of the book, which is found in the book's description. Two, this has to be one of the most unrealistic books I have ever read in my life. What detective, a police chief especially, would allow some random woman from his crime scene to tag along and question suspects with him? Are you kidding me? The author has Jillian behaving like she's the chief of police and it's not at all realistic. In one part she's actually walking around the crime scene and asking the real chief questions like he works for her. I thought it was ridiculous. Also, I found the language and tone of the story to be very unnatural. I definitely would not pay for anything from this author.

Murder at half moon bay. I enjoyed this book very much,it held mine interest from cover to cover. Thank you!

Love the dog. A fascinating plot and interesting characters, including a yorkie who gets in the middle of it all.

Murder in Half Moon Bay. Great reading material....enjoyed it!

Cozy. This is a nice little cozy. Even though there is murder it’s not up in your face and ugly. Teddy is a cute side-kick and adds interesting comments to the dialogue. Overall great for a quick satisfying read.

Murder in Half Moon Bay. Shallow story, not well written, very amateurish.

Interesting characters. This book could use an editor, but the basics are all there. I liked the characters and the religious bit was not overdone. The little dog is a nice touch.

Murder in Half Moon Bay. This is my first Nancy Jill Thames murder mystery. I believe that I would enjoy another. I like that she works with the police and her garden club friends this gives a more diverse perspective. I do like the characters including her dog. I'm looking forward to her next novel.

Murder on Halfmoon Bay. This was very "girlish". Not for me, thanks.

Murder in Half Moon Bay. Cute little story. Author is not afraid to write about prayer and belief in God. Refreshing and entertaining. Thanks Thames!

Murder in Half Moon Bay. I really wanted to like this book, as I have been to Half Moon Bay many times. I enjoy reading books that take place in familiar settings. However, this novel was so poorly written, I had to force myself to finish it. There were so many instances of details that did not fit, that one had to wonder if the author had an editor. The protagonist, Jillian Bradley, seemed better suited in a British story than one taking place in Northern California. She was a journalist who wrote a gardening column, yet the police chief accepted her as a colleague while solving a couple murders that took place at the Carlton Ritz Hotel during a gardening conference. Yeah, right. I'm sure that would happen in real life. The author seemed obsessed with eating, as that's about all the characters did when they weren't checking out each other's clothing. Valley girls turned middle age with a few murders thrown in. I would not recommend this book to any reader who is used to finely honed murder mysteries.

Murder in Half Moon Bay. Meh. Ok story, structuring was not consistent and some of the conversations seemed contrived. Dialog is difficult to portray naturally. My impression is that it is written for folks who need a very simple plot to follow. It wasn't awful but much too simple in many ways, also the depth to which the main character was involved with the local police seems highly unlikely.

I cAnT. I did not read the book but I did see the covers of all 10 books and I’m wHeEzInG. I don’t know who told her that looked good but MY EYES.

Murder in Half Moon Bay. I really wanted to like this book but I couldn't. There were too many unnecessary details that made the book painful to read. As other readers mentioned, it was too unbelievable that law enforcement would allow a garden club to freely investigate a murder. I can suspend some belief but it got a little ridiculous. The storyline was difficult to follow too. In one paragraph Jillian was on the bus & the next she was holding her dog in her room. Transitions were not obvious. It was a bit unnerving to have Ted, her dog, "speaking" throughout the entire book. I really didn't need to know his thoughts all the time. The idea behind the book was enough to keep me reading (I had to know who dunnit.), but I really can't recommend it.

A good read. really like this story , it's great to read a clean mystery or romance book, thanks for sharing this,

Contrived characters and plot in a beautiful setting. I wanted to like this book because I have been to this resort. I really tried to like it. In the end the very contrived plot, stilted dialog and unreal characters trumped the interest of the setting. I would not want to hang out with Jillian and her friends. I do not believe the Chief of Police would have included her and allowed her to ask questions of witnesses. No credibility was built for that. And I, for one, am a female who does not take her jewelry off first! I am sure there are many others. (She also leaves her dog alone in the room way too much.) Sorry.

Highly recommend!. Great book, I hated to put it down. I can't wait to read the next one :)

Nancy Drew grew up and got a dog. I felt like I was in 4 the grade again and reading a Nancy Drew novel. Weak plot, insipid details, secret rooms and laughable forensics make the entire premise of a garden club sleuth and her Yorke solving crimes for the local police more fitting the YR genre than an adult audience. Interesting plot and twist!. I've read Agatha Christie's straight forward plots in Miss Marple's series but this from Mrs. Thames is not quite as elegantly put, however, this first of many does have an interesting plot and twist of its own. An enchanting teacup read!

Murder in half moon bay. Reading this poorly plotted, vague and atrociously written book is like watching a wounded animal struggle across a desert. You just wish something would put it out of its misery. Too bad there's no way to give negative stars for ratings...
