Massacre Pond by Paul Doiron Book Summary

Massacre Pond is Edgar finalist Paul Doiron's superb new novel featuring Game Warden Mike Bowditch and a beautiful, enigmatic woman whose mission to save the Maine wilderness may have incited a murder

On an unseasonably hot October morning, Bowditch is called to the scene of a bizarre crime: the corpses of seven moose have been found senselessly butchered on the estate of Elizabeth Morse, a wealthy animal rights activist who is buying up huge parcels of timberland to create a new national park.

What at first seems like mindless slaughter—retribution by locals for the job losses Morse's plan is already causing in the region—becomes far more sinister when a shocking murder is discovered and Mike's investigation becomes a hunt to find a ruthless killer. In order to solve the controversial case, Bowditch risks losing everything he holds dear: his best friends, his career as a law enforcement officer, and the love of his life.

The beauty and magnificence of the Maine woods is the setting for a story of suspense and violence when one powerful woman's missionary zeal comes face to face with ruthless cruelty.

Massacre Pond. Paul Doiron. This excellent read begins with Game warden mike Bowditch being called out to a brutal crime scene on the massive estate of Elizabeth Morse a wealthy animal rights activist who is buying up huge parcels of timber land to create a new national park. Huge of amounts of the working citizens are now unemployed because of her actions. She is probably on of the most hated persons in the entire state of Maine. When Bowditch arrives at the scene the corpses of seven moose are found shot dead at the location. More are found later on. Then a few days days later someones opens up with a full assault rifle on Elizabeth Morse’s mansion. Then her only daughter crashes and dies in a traffic accident caused by an unknown perpetrator. The suspect the father of an extremely wealthy lumber mill owner who is actually confessed to a crime he didn’t commit. His son did. Another stupendous read in this series!!! My highest recommendation!!

Massacre Pond. Good story. At one point I had 5 or 6 possible guilty parties. Even a law officer was possible. Well written, nice characters. Going to look up his first few books for sure.
