Freehold by Michael Z. Williamson Book Summary
Sergeant Kendra Pacelli is innocent, but that doesn't matter to the repressive government pursuing her. Mistakes might be made, but they are never acknowledged, especially when billions of embezzled dollars earned from illegal weapons sales are at stake. But where does one run when all Earth and most settled planets are under the aegis of one government? Answer: The Freehold of Grainne. There, one may seek asylum and build a new life in a society that doesn't track its residents every move, which is just what Pacelli has done. But now things are about to go royally to hell. Because Earth's government has found out where she is, and they want her back. Or dead.

Great book. A real page turner, this whole series is very good, the sequels don't follow all of the same characters or timelines, but are very entertaining.
Outstanding!. I've read all of Mike Williamson's books; most recently, the Grainne/Freehold series. Throughout these books, Mike has consistently maintained top quality story and character development, and has shown an impressive mastery of technical details in such arcane topics as intelligence and counter-intelligence, battlefield maneuvers, and infantry tactics. I've enjoyed his work so much that I can readily forgive the Heinleinian Utopianism of his first novel, "Freehold" (which I happened to read last). Richard Rosenblatt
Freehold. WOW..... a can't put down, or can't wait to get back to, book.
Heinlein, you have a successor!. Truly imaginative and inventive - a furious page-turner. The sheer depth of involvement is staggering, as well as the details of every aspect of a new and better civilization. I can’t wait to read more of this quality of writing. Glen Riffe
Amateurish Ayn Rand Fantasy. Simplistic tale set in the future that pits a dystopian 1984/A Clockwork Orange Earth against the noble inhabitants of an Ayn Rand novel planet. This book literally justifies the murder of six billion people as a necessary evil. It's the sort of book that some Texas Tea Party UN black helicopter conspiracy theory nut job would read as a primer for the future. As ridiculous and torturous as it was, I managed to read the entire book. I did this so you wouldn't have to torture your selfs.
Freehold. one of the great Sci-Fi books in years, Have read severel time and enjoy it each time
Freehold. The beginning of the book was quite clever, with no foreshadowing of the engaging combat chapters. I really enjoyed the political philosophy which I share. The closing section completed the arc of the story in a satisfying way. This is my first reading of this author, now I am immediately purchasing the next book.
Very well written. Really enjoyed this book!
