A Beautiful Twist to A Well-Known Tale!. Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite tales. This book puts a mature twist on it!! I recommend this book for anyone 16+ (or who feels they are mature enough). There is no profanity or sexual activity (except for a few stolen kisses).

A Beauty and the Beast type fairy tale love story in the form of a dragon.. When you grow up living in a town where young girls enter a lottery to see who will be the next bride for the Lord of Blackā€™s Keep, you come to expect the worst. Rhianne liked to paint, something unheard of, no women shall do such a skill. While she was of the age to be married, her parents tried to find her a proper suitor. As luck would have it, an older gentleman was a prospect, but when her father is injured, her secret of painting is revealed. On the day of the bride lottery, her best friend is chosen. Knowing her best friend was to be married, Rhianne offered herself instead of her friend. A never before occurrence, but the elders allowed it. Rhianne had no idea what lay ahead, other than she would never see her family, friends or her town ever again. Rhianne was whisked away to her future husband, the Dragon. The ceremony was held immediately. She was shown to her new rooms in a large castle, away from her previous life. As time passes, she finds she has fallen in love with the Dragon, even though she has never seen him. A slight touch, his voice, his build, all strike at her heart. She is saddened that even though the Dragon seems to want her affection, he always stops short. No one will reveal the truth behind the curse that caused this man to be sentenced to a life in a dragon form. In addition, a strange dream keeps her painting a man she has never seen before. Who is this man and why does he come to her in her dreams? What will it take to break this curse, and can Rhianne finally be the one to do it? Or will her town continue to find the next bride? Well written to keep you turning pages. Minimal characters but each have their own personality. If you like love stories, or Beauty and the Beast, or fairy tale type stories, you will like this.

Beauty meets ... The Hunger Games?. I think it can be very difficult to twist an old tale to make it new and fresh. As this tale starts, it appeared this might be the case. But as you read on (and on), it doesn't quite hit the mark. If a somewhat updated fairy tale is what you're in the mood for, this may fill your void. Otherwise, move along.

The Dragons Rose. Amazing! For some wine who loves romance, fairy tales and happy endings this book was everything all wrapped up in one! Great book to curl up with.

Excellent read!. I couldn't put this book down! I look forward to reading more from this author.

Desperately wanted to like this.... Iā€™m a sucker for any re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast. Even the bad ones. But every page of this book was a struggle. Rhianeā€™s formal, stilted narration and dialogue made liking her impossible. And when sheā€™d go from zero to hysterical in a sentence or less, it was even more abrupt and unbelievable because she was so robotic. This book had a lot of potential, and the plot itself wasnā€™t terrible (probably because it was mostly leveraged from the original). But the execution was awful, and I regret the hours wasted reading the book.

A Pleasant Read. A clean, romantic story. I enjoyed it.

Well-crafted retelling of an old tale. I seem to be in a blizzard of different versions of the Beauty and Beast story. While most of the Beautys have been strong willed women, with curious minds, and set apart a bit from her peers, Rhianne has a couple of advantages over her counterparts in other versions: true visions or dreams and a gift for drawing and painting, which may help her solve the mystery if the Dragon and the earlier Brides. A certain amount of the setting--isolated castle on a mountain with high towers, mysterious deaths of multiple wives, a male figure who never shows himself/always comes fully covered/is seen only at night, women chosen by lot to forsake everything they've known to go marry the legendary inhabitant of the castle (but no governesses, no monstrous huge dogs, no attic off-Limits, no single, high, lit window, no one clad lightly running from the castle...)--is so mid-20th c. Gothic Novel/Romantic Suspense, quite unlike any other B&B version I can recall. This telling can hold its own against other authors' interpretation. Practical matter: So why no hearths in the sleeping rooms in a stone castle? I've lived in enough places where "heating" meant a vent the hallway, or a wall unit in the living area. This means that unless you keep the door to your bedroom open, none of that heat goes where you're likely to be unclothed. What were they thinking? This was enjoyable enough to get me to buy the others in this series, at least.

Dragon Rose by Christine Pope. We all love "Once Upon A Time" books with a happy ending even if the story has curses and evil magic intertwined into its characters and plots. With a smile on my face and my hot popcorn gone I willingly look forward to completing all of Christine Pope's books. KSW

Dragon Rose. A well told tale that kept me reading from first page to last.

Great story. I enjoyed the plot and characters. I liked the ending. It was well written. I'm excited to read more from this author!

Dragon Rose. This is an engrossing and vivid and re-imagining of the Beauty and the Beast tale written by a masterful author. The reader is quickly transported into the fantasy and enthralled completely right up to the end. I will certainly read more of Popeā€™s novels. Her voice is perfect.

A Beautiful Story. At first I was a little weary about the plot line of this book, I am very glad I gave it a chance. This book is wonderful, it was one of the best books I have read in a long time.

Masterpiece. It took me one day to read the whole thing, i was so engrossed in the story. Truly it is a wonderful adaptation of Beauty and The Beast. The story draws you in fron the first few sentences. The characters have amazing depth and the book ais just so good i could go on about it forever xD

I expected more. Dragon Rose was an easy read that contained many aspects that a majority of readers can enjoy. It had romance, mystery, adventure, passion, and magic. In my opinion, the story was written quite poorly - the descriptions were good, and the plot was entertaining, but the story switched tenses at times, creating an uneducated feel from the author. That's not to say it isn't a fairly good piece, but I expected more. While the plot was interesting and led to a pleasing, albeit quite obvious and predictable, ending, the story progressed too quickly, with fairly uncharacterized characters. The whole thing felt very two-dimensional at times. And the end happened MUCH too quickly. There was no character development with the new character after (spoiler) the dragon turns into a man. He completely changed into a new person and we never got to know him (end spoiler). The end should have been like 40 pages, and was smushed into 10. Very rushed. I enjoyed the romance and the tone of the novel, but it could be improved in many grammatical and artistic ways. However, if you are looking for an interesting story full of magic and romance, this is an easy read that can be devoured in one sitting if you are able to lower your educational expectations a tad. I did enjoy the story itself (mostly the plot), with all that said, though, but would probably not read anything further written by the author.

Couldn't put it down!. This was an absolutely beautiful read! As a fan of Beauty and the Beast tropes, it had me being for more. A wonderful romance with plenty of fantastic lore!

Dragon Rose. This is a wonderful book. The romance story is a traditional format with intriguing details. It is one of those books I will read over and over again.

Riveting. Enjoyable spin on a classic tale. Kept me up past my bedtime a couple of nights.

Loved it..... I'm a paranormal junkie and I have read several of Christine's other series. I was so bummed that this was a standalone book, I would love a follow up story on Black's Keep. I was hooked from the first page to the last.

A must!. I truly enjoyed it. I love Beauty and the Beast stories. So this one was to my liking. Thank you so much!

Dragon Rose. A good readā€”reminiscent of gothic romance/suspense, but with a real ā€œmonsterā€. The resolution at the ending comes a little too easily, but it does not detract from the story as a whole.

Dragon Rose. I could not put it down. A great retelling of "Beauty and the Beast". There were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing.

A lovely read. A good re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast. The world-building is consistent and aids the flow of the plot. The characters are the usual for this type of tale. However, more elements of tension could have been cranked up to increase the heroineā€™s plight.

Dragon Rose. A wonderful story could not stop turning a page wanting to know the next part of a lovely story so well written thank you so much to the Author the ending was beautiful. šŸ„°šŸŒ¼šŸ™

Rushed ending. The storyline and writing style was very interesting and captivating. I really enjoyed this book. However Iā€™m giving it 3 stars because it could have been a longer story, for all the build up the ending was over in a flash and it left many questions unanswered. Enjoyable read and I likeable characters but had loads of potential but just fell a bit flat in the end.

Loved it. Absolutely amazing. Emotionally engaging & beautifully written.

Ok. This ones a little hard to rate. Over all I liked it, but it seemed a little too drawn out for the then... "bang, done" ending.

Itā€™s good. A bit predictable, I knew how it was going to end, made me think of Beauty and the Beast. But it flowed well enough, was easy enough to read. Aimed at a late teen/young adult audience, I think. Better than just ā€œitā€™s okā€, so 4 stars it is.

Excellent book, well written. Good story, enjoyed it.

Good read. This book was very well written, it seems to be a spin on beauty and the beast, and it was wonderful. I couldn't put it down, I recommend to anyone who wishes for a book filled with mystery and a touch of humour!! All in all five stars

Engrossing read. I really enjoyed the world created in this novel. I found the unfolding of the story touched my emotions beautifully; it engaged all of me and the writer has crafted her descriptions so well I could almost feel the cold of the story in a warm day, experience the levels doubt and confusion and see the colour of the eyes! Great read!

Wow. It was way better than expected. The mystery well thought through

Absolutely captivating.. This book is amazing I absolutely loved every part of it and the ending was the best definitely a book I would read again and again in the future.

A sweet story. As romantic as Beauty & the Beast
