Really an Incredible Accomplishment, That You Can Do Too!. After months in the gym, this book’s routine and Joe's philosophy has transformed my body in under a week. Four months ago I felt too skinny and week. I was the definition of skinny fat without a toned muscle in my body. While I was just turning 30, I didn’t really have the body and strength of what I envisioned I’d have as a man my age. I joined a cheap gym close to my house, and so began my body transformation. I read up on Men’s Health fitness articles and bought that huge book of excersices. I threw myself into the gym three to 4 days a week and after 21 days, this new schedule not only became easier for me but my body actually wanted to go, I was excited to go. Three months into it, I was stronger but I was not bigger or more defined mostly because I was fumbling around not knowing much about muscle groups and circuit training with correct reps, etc. But I was in there working, getting a start to it. I knew that if my body hadn’t changed yet, my determination and willpower was strong to continue. I left the cheap gym because it wasn’t inspiring me. Most of the people there were like me fumbling around or "super crazy roided out lift as much as you possibly can while blowing all your veins" kind of people. I joined a gym a little further from my house but with another location very close to my office, so I had flexible options. With my new membership I got several 1 hour one-on-one personal training sessions with an excellent trainer who taught me great form and educated me on how to use the machines, removed the fear of using the larger equipment usually stacked with huge weights and shared effective stretching techniques. I can not stress enough how much that helped me gain confidence and I had someone there keeping me accountable so I could not say, “ok I almost did that” - he pushed me through and I actually did the work properly. I saw immediate results from those few weeks of training, more than I ever did over the three months I started. Now after that rediculously long set up, I’m getting to this book. This book would have saved me my first three months and I would have gone further in the few weeks with a trainer if Joe released this earlier! I STRONGLY reccommend you read this book, then take the routine to the gym you will frequent and pay for at least one personal training session, walking you through each of the excersises to: A) educate yourself with proper form, B) build confidence in using equipment you’ve been avoiding or never saw before, C) ask questions and determine the right weight for what you want to achieve. With the long set up and the disclaimer done, I just love this book. Joe’s philosophy of changing your body to become a better person all around is wonderful. The more respect you have for yourself in your physical ability (with or without having huge muscles), the more you will respect your diet, your health, and your relationships in life, business and beyond. Another strong point he discusses is the word “potential” and how much he dislikes the work and our misplaced affinity to it. Potential is just that, what’s possible, what could be, the idea of it. Compared to actually achieving it, having it, owning it - the potential is realized. Such a strong idea. Being less of someone who “has potential” and more of someone who “has achieved” is applicable to EVERYTHING. I don’t like overwhelming philosophies that shove ideas in your head. His language and writing style is pretty simple and not at all fancy. There is no real eloquence or entertainment in his writing for this purpose - its just basic personal experience, making it just relatable enough so you can put the book down and get to work. You can read through it in two days, study the workouts in advance and when you’re ready to begin, prep your workout the night before bed. In the morning, focus on one circuit at a time. Take it day by day and its truly a rewarding experience. Withing just a week I notice bigger yet LEAN gains, a lot more focus and much stronger determination to finish each workout, pushing myself to further test what I thought was possible… really breaking past that wall of potential and actually achieving what I wanted when I began. In closing, Joe deserves a huge congrats because he just solidified his expertise in this genre while gaining a new and solid audience. I’m definitely looking forward to his continued Evolution and will look for future programs and books he’ll publish.

Thanks Joe!. As a mid-30 year-old man who is also 6'5" and has had many similar challenges in life, the idea of this book alone was enough to peak my curiosity. Never did I think that I would finish the read in 2 days. I want my family and friends to read it to understand a healthy perspective on life, focus, and breaking down the mental barriers we allow ourselves to rationalize as necessary and acceptable. Also as an avid reader of fitness and nutrition articles and subject matter it was refreshing to finally read something from someone who wasn't advocating a product or a revolutionary concept. Joe pays homage to the greats while introducing the cold hard facts you need to know. Consider the challenge accepted Joe. I'll see you in 6 weeks. Thank you!

No nonsense approach to get you where you want to be. Great read! From the mental blocks to the grocery list and workouts to the same supplements Joe takes. You never feel pitched and I feel confident this will work and that I can get through it! I'm ALL IN!!! 6 week countdown begins now, along with a complete lifestyle change to make sure my future is everything it is meant to be.

This guy is a motivator.. This guy's story and his willingness to share his struggles made me realize that the only thing in my way was me. I haven't had a sip of alcohol in over two months and have been to the gym almost everyday since reading this. The workouts in the back of the book are worth the price alone.

Cuts the BS, right on the money!. Equally inspiring and informative. I've read many of these types, and I really enjoyed his straight to the point approach to life, failures, growth, and success. Joe makes you feel it's possible but also let's you know it won't be easy unless you commit! I'm on week 2 of the workout and it's a beast! Can't wait to finish...or rather... ill never be finished! Great read for fitness and life.

IT MAY JUST CHANGE HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING…. I recently turned 35 and can confidently say that I am currently in the best shape of my life and feel like I could rip the jaw off an alligator. Thank you Joe Manganiello. The Evolution program truly taught me what it meant to push beyond preconceived mental barriers and unleash the animal inside of me who had been longing to be let out of its cage. Joe's authenticity in the telling of his story including the rise and fall, and then rise again, brought me great hope and inner strength in my own personal journey. I think what truly sets this program apart from any others is Joe’s ability to express that true strength begins on the inside and the outside merely follows its lead. This book is INSPIRING. READ IT. LIVE IT. LOVE IT. EVOLVE.

Great read!. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If there's anyone worth looking up to regarding striving for physical perfection, Joe Manganiello is definitely at the top of the list. One thing I loved about this book is that it didn't jump right into working out. Before getting to the chapters about weights and different exercises, Joe shares inspirational stories and great mantras that make you want to hit the gym as soon as possible. A lot of things are covered in this book like nutrition and positive affirmations for motivation, and I can only thank God I stumbled across this book. I would definitely recommend Evolution to a friend.

Grateful for this book. This is a great book! I have seen my body change in the last month. I am experienced around the weight room. But, after a recent three month hiatus, I put on some weight. Joe showed me how to ease back into transforming or 'evolve' my health for the better. I'm even more toned and have lost a good amount of weight/body fat just in four weeks. I'm grateful that Joe showed me how to switch things up in the weight room. I love him as an actor and now as my trainer!!! Thanks Joe, YOU ROCK!!!

Great read. Straight to the point with no fluff or BS, great read if your ready to help yourself get into shape.

Well worth the money!. I'm 33 years old, I've been going to the gym since I was a teenager hitting the weights as hard as I could but always ended up with mediocre results. I've never considered muscle enhancing supplements, I'm a sports guy and I believe the real reward is in the effort and not the results. If you are like me then this is the book to buy; simple understanding of how your body reacts to training and diet. For the first time in my life I found fitness easy to understand and follow, no annoying calorie counts, crazy "torture yourself" diets or weird exercise moves, just simple workouts and real knowledge of food intake. Now, this is not easy, it really gives you results but you have to be all in. After you finish the book you'll know and understand more about fitness than your unfit trainer at the gym (which is a great feeling) and you will be able to change your training every now and then in a good manner to always get results. Believe me, I did and I can't stop now.

Journey. To start this review, Im going to state that I am a girl. Obviously, this book focuses more on your upper body rather than on leg workout and this is why I rated it 4 starts not 5. If I were to be a guy, then I would rate it as a 5 star. But then again this is the second time I have been through a workout book, so my experience is not plenty. However, my evolution was amazing. I enjoyed the challenge each workout routine had for every day. Indeed, as a girl, I noticed I did not work my upper body as much as I should. Mainly I gained strength and resistance. The transition between weeks is so smooth, passed the first two days that I was in pure pain, but afterwards is just escalating. Now that I workout I feel so fulfilled. In terms of results I have notices I am way more shredded than before, and because you work out your entire body, your entire body can lift more and more within each week. New exercises were tough at first, but with their consistency I became more efficient. The workouts are so varied, you always feel your muscles well exercised. Its a great book if you don’t have the time or knowledge to prepare a really good routine, he explains every exercise and of course he has lots of pictures of his insane body. I would recommend this book to everybody that wants to get stronger, but not bulky, cause is all about getting leaned and toned.

This book is For women too. I just finished this book and it is the first fitness book I have ever completed. I finished it over four days and I couldn't put it down. I found myself so inspired by Joe's motivation and mental determination. I am far from fit, and have been trying to achieve my fitness goals for some time now. I really needed a mental boost, and Joe's mindset helped me change my own. It teaches you to hold yourself accountable and that you are your own competition. He highlights the importance of mental preparedness and mental commitment. Although he speaks to a male audience, I found that what he wrote applied to me and as a woman, I could still relate to him and his teachings/struggles. The best part is Joe offers you a workout plan, a meal plan, and even has pictures of all the different workouts performed by him. This book is wonderful. I'm a big fan of his beginning from True Blood. I now see him in a different light: as my inspiration to hold myself accountable on the road to being the best possible version of myself. THANKS JOE! Written by a woman for the women out there.
