Afterword: The Art of All Arts. The (Missing) Afterword The ultimate art is your life, that you co-create with God. Show up to the field relentlessly. Be present every moment. Face the fear. Be willing to be born in every moment (which can be painful or miserable). Don’t take yourself (your ego) too seriously. Humbly accept the gifts that come along. Master the art of life, the art of all arts. Out of it flows every other art.

Inaccurate and harmful. To claim ADD, Seasonal Affect Disorder, and Social Anxiety are not real is harmful and flat out wrong. The author is not a doctor and should not be stating what are or aren’t actual medically diagnosable things. 0 stars.

A secret to happiness. Do the work. You know deep down what it is you must do. Do it. This book has put me on a path i never thought possible. Thank you steven.

The War Of Art. For me to rate something publicly says it all about this book. Extremely eye-opening and humbling. A true inspiration to all those who read it, and ironically enough, who most likely already are inspired, but just don't know it yet.

Finish what you started. This finally gave a picture of the enemy and its habits, and characteristics. I am greater for reading this and taking to heart the words written in this book. Now, is the time to complete and finish what I started. Thank you!

Necessary Reading. As a businessman, I found the ideas in this book inspiring.

A must read and re-read. This is one of those books you can read over and over again. I just finished my first pass of it and I have notes, highlights, and underlines all over the place. This is an amazing read and I really needed this in my life. I will revisit this book probably 2 or 3 times a year until I really digest this and apply it throughout my life as a musician. If you're an artist in any field... You need to read this book.

Set your expectations low. A friend highly recommended this book because we have both been struggling with procrastination, and he suggested it was very inspirational for overcoming this. I have gotten halfway through, and I can honestly say that the only lesson I’ve learned is that professionals sit down and get the work done, no matter the pain. If you want to pursue a dream, set a routine. While he does sprinkle the a few inspirational references showcasing the importance of successful habits, it’s hardly a novel thought. On top of this, the author comes across as a massive douchebag on many occasions. He claims many audacious theories on how mankind is organized and divided, and his input is often baseless, in my opinion easily refuted with any critical thought, and worthless filler to the subject of producing professional work.

A must read. War of art is as brilliant as it is simplistic and to the point, if you know you've got something in you and you've been holding back, read it, if you like to learn or better your life, read it! If you can read, read it! If you can't read, learn how, then read it!

Inspiring. Thank you Mr. Pressfield for an excellent work. This helps me frame and give proper perspective to my daily work life.

the war of art. This book is a game changer . Inspiring , truthful, and insightful. Makes this journey much clearer... Thank you!

The Love of War. When a soul speaks with a soul and reminds the soul of all there is, all there could be, all there ever was and validates the soul’s journey there is comfort. With the comfort The War of Art brings its reader there is magnificent responsibility. Find the comfort of knowing why you work, why you press on, why you are in the war, why no, or yes has little meaning in the grand plan. Hear of a course set by a Muse, an ancient way, a clearly worn path through the world of making art. A path before you that you may have never noticed until Steven Pressfield and Shawn Coyne’s The War of Art illustrates for you a bearing suitable to navigate your work on a moment to moment, project to project reward. A reward you may cherish because you may know your work is important, worthwhile, and worth every sacrifice you might find to make for it in order to achieve your goal. Read this book.

Great Book. Really good book. Definitely reading it a second Time

One of my favorite books. The way he tells the story of how to get started with your work is so refreshing and engaging

“POWERFUL and LIFE CHANGING”. Few books, outside of the Bible and James Allen’s “As A Man Thinketh”, has left me Inspired, empowered and changed. This is one of them. The author has tapped into the source of inspiration as well as the reasons and excuses that we have all used ,at one time or another, as to why we don’t tap into our potential and unleash unto the world the gifts that we all have within us. I found out about this book watching a list on YouTube the books that could change your life. I’m glad I listened when it came to the War of Art. I recommend this book to anyone reading my review. Seldom do I write a review, which speaks volumes. I plan to reread this book and have already added it to my “ success library”. It’s money well spent and I’m certain you will feel the same after reading. It would be a disservice to the gift within you that the world is waiting for you to unleash. Thanks again to the author for this Masterpiece!

Not bad. Nice motivational book about just pushing through and keeping on working and writing

Incredible & useful. The author brilliantly opens your mind to truths you wish you had known, or remembered, long ago! I’m about to read it again... like now!

Hyperbolic nonsense. I don’t even know where to start. The author makes so many outlandish statements, mostly based on his prejudices, that it’s hard to take him serious. He equals eating fat and sugar with sin? This should never have been published. Also, the book has spelling errors and awful formatting. Clearly no one proofread this book.

Outstanding!. Reading through this book has really opened my eyes to a whole new perspective on life, as a good book should. Pressfield writes in a way that shows he does not care to impress his readers of his knowledge, to show that he understands something we don’t. Instead he uses what he knows to teach through his writing, his muse if you will. Thank you Steven, I will be back to read again anytime I go off path.

Concise and to the point.. That is one book to get you going when you need that little push. Thanks for being the medium Steven.

Loved This Book!!. After reading page after page, it helped me understand resistance more. It literally is a constant war between you and resistance. Thank you for writing this extraordinary book.

Weak. I wanted to feel inspired or motivated but walking away at the end this book changed nothing. Instead I found myself questioning the terrible anecdotes and quotable excerpts. The writing distracted from the message and the constant reference to God and Angels really took away from the point of each story. There were some good takes on time and space but overall I did not enjoy this book.

Good. Interesting point of view for everyone

This will Change Life. promise

I love it. I cry like 10 times when i was reading it, great book

Perfect Code for an Artistic Samurai. I really love Making Ideas Happen by Scott Belsky, but this is on another level. This book is written from the mystical and universal perspective which touches on source and inspiration and our contract of what we do and who we do it for. More than that, it shows the efforts of our self-sabotaging unconscious to undermine our path and expression. Finally, it raises the bar for the methods and manner in which we do things that truly inspires me. I underlined so many things in this book that it was almost a book.

must read.. this is a must read for any and everyone. a book that will be read time and time again. thank you for this great work and inspiration!

Growth. Great for growth and development. Highly recommended.

A Must Read for Artists. The title of my review says it all. This book encourages, inspires, and validates an artist's drive to create. Anyone who hears that inner voice to birth something new, is an artist and will benefit from this book. Thank you Steven Pressfield for writing it!

Great. Great book.

What every procrastinator needs to read. An easy, practical read. I can see me flipping through this book for years to come!

Life Changing. This book quite literally changed my life. It helped me overcome the fear and self-doubt I had always been consumed by. Over the past year I have taken several major steps in my life including starting a business, and it was because this book helped identify everything that has ever held me back.

Thought provoking read, few minor issues. I picked up this book, and was curious if it would guide me through my own creative blocks. While there were wonderfully written passages that makes me want to get up and get to doing what the author preaches, I was turned off by the religious tone near the end. I did appreciate his input to try to think of these religious affected parts in other ways. In addition to that: considering that this book was published in early 2000s, I was not a fan of how the author portrayed the bit about dealing with depression as something trivial. This is something to keep in mind if you decide to take this book’s words to heart in your own journey to conquering your own creative blocks. Other than these bits, this book is definitely worth the read to reframe your own mindset.

AWESOME!. Awesome awesome book! I would like to thank Steven for this book. I now feel like I can conquer the world!!!

Instant Clarity. I read this entire book in one sitting the very day I bought it. I haven’t read a full book in about 2 years. That is really saying something. This book covers everything you need to know as a creative person. Thank you, Steven Pressfield for informing me on these key points and crucial information I so very much needed to pick up my career as an artist. Big ups.

A Work of Art. This was an incredible book. From the first page I was drawn in and captivated by every word until the last page. This book is special. Especially for those who do creative work.

The War of Art. Such an awesome book!

Thank you. SP.. I started this book last evening and just finished. It's 7:30am. I'm not even tired and all of birds and whatever are chatting outside my window. While reading I stopped to write a children's book I thought about writing a year ago this month. After I called on my muse for guidance. Thank you SP. This book has given me something that I have been searching for, for many years. The why? The what and the how? CD.

Thought provoking and reflective. When I picked up this book the impression I had was it was strictly for artists or writers but as I continue to read it I realize it applies to so much more than just the arts. There are insights here that can be applied to many facets of our life. Many great takeaways. The way the book is constructed you could pick it up read a few pages put it down but you always come back. I think this will be one that I will reference periodically and continue to get wisdom and insight from.

Great read. Great read🤙🏾

Amazing!. This book was so helpful! It really allowed me to think about my art in a new way. Clearly defines terms and really helps us get out of the rut of not being able to practice our art. We have a responsibility to the world and this book really helps you realize that. Artist, Doctor, lawyer, scientist, etc. this book is for everyone.

The creative’s bible. If you strive to create anything, read and internalize this book.

Wonderful read!. Very powerful and quotable! Definitely worth the price!

Don’t bother. I can’t say this was entirely motivational. Can’t say I honestly took too much from this one.

The War of ART. We all have a gift, this book gives you the motivation you need to find it.

Amazing Read. It's an amazing read and teaches you how to combat your inner battles. The book was very giving to me, as it gave guidance on how to explore your inner self in terms of creativity. From the book I learned we have a an angel and a demon each resting on each of our shoulder. They live within our soul and they each represent resistance (the demon) and genius (the angel). The genius is our Muse existing within us. The muse is our inner creativeness. But to ignite our inner Muse we must overcome resistance. Resistance is what we feel everyday, when we wake up in the morning, when we start a new project. It can take many shapes and forms and many times it can be seen as fear. Pressfield explains how we can overcome this fear, and distinguishes between two types of people: the amateur and the professional. He says: “The amateur believes he must first overcome his fear; then he can do his work. The professional knows that fear can never be overcome. He knows there is no such thing as a fearless warrior or a dread-free artist.” When you're going pro, “take a few blows. That’s the price for being in the arena and not on the sidelines. Stop complaining and be grateful.” He further explains, “The more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.” He further explains the professional is an artist. The artist is the advanced model. His culture possesses affluence, stability, enough excess of resource to permit the luxury of self-examination. The artist is grounded in freedom. He is not afraid of it. He is lucky. He was born in the right place. He has a core of self-confidence, of hope for the future. He believes in progress and evolution. His faith is that humankind is advancing, however haltingly and imperfectly, toward a better world.” For the amateur, “Grandiose fantasies are a symptom of Resistance. They’re the sign of an amateur. The professional has learned that success, like happiness, comes as a by-product of work. The professional concentrates on the work and allows rewards to come or not come, whatever they like.”

Gold for the artist. Lit a fire inside me. I'm a songwriter& artist and I feel completely changed and ready to move forward. If you have ANY resistance or feeling that you can't start your book or song, go to the gym, cure a disease... Read this. An uplifting, to the point and necessary for artists of all kinds. MUST READ!

Take Control of Your Life and Buy This Book. It is impossible to read this book and then view life the same way. I promise you that. If you have any capacity as a human being, this should be nothing less than a catalyst to the first day of the rest of your life.

Amazing!!!!. By far one of the best reads I've encountered. Straight to the point, funny and super inspiring. Thank you Steven Pressfield! Definitely worth the purchase.

Wow. Just wow

Art is not selfish. A fantastic read and guide to rid of your fears and rules you've lived by for years. As an actor, reading this book, gave me more insight about who I was than a three BA drama degree. We aren't selfish people and we are certainly not limited by our own beliefs. Look yourself in the face and say yes.

OMG. OMG...totally life changing!! Thankyou so much for this. Almost like the book was speaking to me...exactly what I needed to hear 💜

I really wanted to love this book. I've seen so many recommendations about this book and seen it mentioned countless times by people who I regard as leaders in self development. To be fair, the first 2 parts of this book are a superb guide to cultivating a strong work ethic and explain how to become self aware of procrastination and self sabotage in regards to all areas of life, not just creative pursuits. However, the 3rd part drifts off into quasi new age spirituality where the author talks of angels, muses and generally wallows in fluffy self help cliche's, such as 'we are all more afraid of success than failure' and 'when we start to dedicate ourselves towards a goal, mysterious forces are enlisted to help us'. Be aware also, it is a book with 120 pages of content spread out over 170.

Scripture. I have been reading and researching all manner of books and websites about spirituality in an effort to find why the muses seem to have abandoned me of late. While some of those books helped open my mind to a broader concept of the Creator, I still faced the massive block that has kept me from my easel for far too long a time. The War of Art has taught me more about my relationship to God than just about any other holy book. Read it and open yourself to the creative force of Creation.

The first two thirds are great. I enjoyed the majority of this book. I’m just not a big fan of the spiritual stuff that came up at the end. Overall it’s still a great read

Every book has something to say. It is a hit for those want to eliminate the evil from them

Does not back up arguments with data, needlessly and forcefully religious. This book attempts to tackle questions relating to how to generate and sustain motivation, and what causes a failure to do so. Unfortunately, it answers them with wild speculation, as well as careless and sometimes demonstrably false assertions, rather than the scientific rigour that these empirical questions demand. Near the end, the author derails from his already substandard analysis and wastes the reader's time with a strange yet unsophisticated quasi mystical/religious manifesto. (As an aside, I get the impression he was trying to emulate William Blake but failed miserably). He suggests strongly that religious/spiritual belief is necessary for accomplishing one's goals, which is inaccurate and needlessly alienating. If you are interested in improving your creative output, skip this gratuitous, proselytizing mess in favor of a more empirically driven alternative.

Must read!. Loved it.

Get to work. Your soul needs it

Awesome book. Will be reading more than once

Good times. Thanks Mr Pressfield

A book not to be missed.. Simply inspiring and a fantastic read. One of the few I'm sure I will re-read every year.

incredible. A must read for any creative person

An extraordinary read. The first step is admitting you have a problem, the second step is buying this book, and the third is actually sitting down and reading it. It will be the best decision you have ever made.
