Negyven évvel később Magda unokája, Nina egy kelet-berlini gyárban szórja szét a maga készítette röpcédulákat. Amikor megpróbál átjutni Nyugat-Berlinbe, a Stasi börtönébe kerül. Másfél év múlva, 1989 novemberében, a fal leomlása után, zakatoló szívvel indul végre Nyugatra felkutatni a rejtélyes házat, amelynek képét még kislánykorában találta meg egy szekrény mélyén. A homályos eredetű rajz elviszi őt a múlt romjai közé, ahonnan nagyanyja valaha menekült. Amikor végre rátalál az elhagyatott Tornyos házra, felnyitja az elfeledni kívánt történet ajtaját is. A feltáruló titkok mindent megváltoztatnak: a múltat, a jelent s a jövőt is…
