Reconnecting. How great would it be to have all meals delivered and tell my kids go fix your own food I would be in heaven. It’s also convenient for Gayle choosing to stick up for protecting something being aware of the dangers without giving Axel the same benefit of doubt. I think Lucy was feeding off Gayle’s emotions cause she eventually calmed down. Progress is made establishing contact with the sand and they discover something worse than they thought. Can they prove their theories and their love?. Gale Force is the second book in the Cyborg Force series. The romance stands alone, but it is part of an overarching storyline for the series that I suggest reading in order. Gayle has been hired to travel to a different planet to study… sand. But all is not as it seems, especially when she’s forced to work closely with her ex husband, who is now her bodyguard. Untwisting past emotions might be easier than uncovering the secrets of the sand, but can Gayle and Axel prove their theories and their love? Oh wow, this was a fantastic read! I have always had a soft spot for Ms. Bristol’s cyborgs, and this series is quickly racing to the top of my favorites from her! Gayle and Axel drew me in right away, with all of their tension and past history, plus you add in the secrets of the planet and sand and the shady characters that also play a part in this book, and I was hooked! Gayle hates being blindsided and trust is big with her, so it was interesting to see how the danger aspects played out as secrets were unraveled, but also to see all of her interactions with her ex. I liked that they were just as passionate as ever, but she was more mature now to see what was truly important and to know when she was wrong. Axel was perfect for her, especially now. He seemed pretty in control, and safety was a big deal for him, but I liked that Gayle threw him off a little here and there. I loved their interactions! I loved the way they protected one another! I thought it was great that some of the secrets of this word have slowly been revealed, but this storyline is definitely not finished! I am seriously so excited for the next book and I really enjoyed my time spent reading this book!

Solid 4 Stars. Dr. Gayle Chambers is very excited about the research project she is headed towards, looking for a totally new life form. Until her ex-husband, who she feels lied and betrayed her, shows up as her bodyguard & escort. Axel Vander married the love of his life and always let her know his greatest ambition was to become a member of the Cyborg Force. So when several years into their marriage he is accepted into the Force, He doesn't hesitate, never dreaming Gayle would see it as a betrayal. He feels she lied to him all along. Needless to say, there is a bit of tension, especially since these two are still in love. But there are different political forces trying to derail Gayle's research and more. This book has a little of everything chemistry, sizzle, steam, drama, action, twists, intrigue, betrayal, and more. Well written characters, well developed storyline, and well paced read. “I plan to be on my guard all the time.”. Gayle accepts an amazing job opportunity knowing she wants/needs more information, but unaware just how many surprises could by lying in wait for her. Maybe her ex-husband appearing out of no where to be escort her to her new job was an omen. Axel wouldn’t trust anyone else with his ex-wife’s life, even if he’s still crushed by the betrayal of her filing for divorce. Now that they’re stuck with one another, 24/7, can they manage a truce? They’ve each got important jobs to get done after all. I was gifted with a copy of this book and am choosing to share my review… this world is amazing, thought provoking about the world in which we live it is creative, imaginative, and captivating. Stories/Universes like this are why I love science-fiction and fantasy. A kernel of our reality, a dash of what-if, and suddenly a world I would love to investigate is coming to life. Gayle’s scientific mind, and musician’s heart are challenged to not only answer a challenging question, but deal with the struggles in framing the question itself. I loved the line “Intention suggests intelligence.” This adventure is on every level, physical, mental, and emotional, as Gayle, and we the reader seek to learn about Sajave and become champions of that which we can not understand.

Hale Force. Great story-that keeps you interested the whole time.

Fantastic!. Gayle is an Astrobiologist being sent to the planet of Sajave to prove or disprove that the sand on the planet is a living organism. She is very excited, until she finds out that her bodyguard is her ex husband Axel. Axel always wanted to join C-force and become a cyborg. He just didn’t realize it would cost him his marriage. When he is assigned to be her bodyguard is isn’t happy about it but vows to keep her safe. But when Gayle does manage to communicate with the sand and prove it is an intelligent being, they unleash deadly forces intent on suppressing the information and eliminating them! “My emotions had been flash-frozen - and now they were thawing out.”. I haven’t read book one but I was easily able to pick up on what I missed. This is book two of the series and while the couple get their HEA the overall arc of the story is ongoing. There was a lot to like. The basic ongoing plot about a planet with an alien species unlike any I’ve ever even imagined and the political intrigue regarding whether humans should stay or go is very interesting and enjoyable. I really loved the two main characters, cyborg Axel and his astrobiologist ex-wife, Gayle. They divorced nineteen years earlier and are very much an older couple. Both still clearly in love with each other, they were wonderful together and I really wanted them to work things out. This is actually were my biggest disappointment came from. This is a romance novel but the love story was mostly secondary. It read more like a sci-fi novel with their relationship an add-on instead of the main focus. The situation between Axel and Gayle was resolved easily and too quickly, barely half way through the book. And once they reconnected the romance part was pretty much set aside for the reminder of the story. Too bad as I felt there could have been a lot more to their story. The epilogue isn’t really an epilogue. It’s the beginning of the next book, which to me is a big cheat. I actually dislike it when the epilogue of a book has nothing to do with the couple I’ve just finished reading about. Don’t call it an epilogue. Call it what it is, a sneak peek or introduction to another book. That being said, Tempest and Bane seem to have the potential to be an exciting and, hopefully, intriguing story with a couple that I’m betting are going to have a lot of sparks between them! I can’t wait to find out.

Wonderful story. This is a wonderful story. I didn’t want it to end. I loved the interactions between Gayle and Axel. They had been married before he joined C-Force. She didn’t take his enlistment very well and divorced him. Now, they have a chance to clear the air. Gayle first has to figure out if the sand is alive and has intelligent life to it. Axel is determined to keep her safe. Will they be able to let go of the past for a chance at a future? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Gale Force. I loved this book. The storyline was well written and pulled me in fast. It kept my interest from being to end. The characters went well together and had a wonderful chemistry together.
