Wow! Speechless. This one had me HOOKED! Lisa Jewell is always outstanding with her novels. This book is one of the longer books I’ve read and I still finished in 3 days. I was on the edge of my seat wanting more and more, eager to see what was going to happen next. I highly recommend reading this book, don’t question it, just do it. You won’t regret

None of this is true. Well, I cannot brag about it enough…..the thriller aspect about it is unbelievable…. The twists and turns around every corner on every page all the way up to the very very end is fantastic.! I would have to give it a MUST read for sure. 👍

Twist till the end. Absolutely incredible! I haven’t been so emotionally involved in a book in so long. Definitely recommend for complex family relationships and narrative.

Predictable format, weak ending. The first half of the novel is interesting with its introduction of characters, nice detailed descriptions, insight into emotional states, but once mid plot twist takes place - it all kind of falls apart. Predictable, lacking in depth and missing final cliffhanger. It was just OK.

Great book but ending fell flat. I enjoyed reading this book and enjoyed the suspense, but i felt like the ending didn’t do the book justice. I would’ve liked to see more exploration into Josie’s character, and more of her POV in part 4. This as well as answers to some of the mysteries that were never revisited (ex: the phone case)

Too creepy for me. The only reason I made myself finish it was that it was our book club’s selection. Josie’s character made my skin crawl and I wanted to put the book down and as far away from me as possible. If you like dark, you may like this book. It’s just not for me.

It turns out that Josie had been a parent at the same school as Alix’s kids, but her kids were in their 20’s. Josie runs into Alix and asks her to stop by where she works to talk. Alix is hesitant, but finally agrees. Josie asks Alix to do a podcast on her as she is making big changes in her life by getting out of a bad marriage. Alix’s gut instinct says to walk away, but instead she agrees. What’s the fascination and who is Josie Fair? Is it what it seems? Lisa Jewell will take you on a wild ride as the truths are revealed. I love how Lisa Jewell’s books start out slowly building before they quickly become page turners that are hard to put down. I loved all the twists and turns in it! This book will leave you thinking about it long after it’s done. Perfect for book clubs to discuss as there is a lot to unpack! A great vacation read as well!

Good read. Very suspenseful, however some let’s dragged on.

Intriguing Characters. The author does a great job building the characters in this novel. You want to hate Josie while at the same time you have such pity for her.

I wish I didn’t bother reading this book. So weird and stupid.. I could not stand this book. Do not recommend. Bad plot, no likeable characters, horrible ending. Bleh.

Lacked depth. The story was immediately engaging and seemed to go really deep on certain aspects (typically surrounding the dark and creepy storyline) but totally missed opportunities to build some depth with the other characters. It felt like the only character that felt real was the main character, everyone else seemed flat.

Just awful. Don’t waste your time…I actually got through half the book and then skipped ahead to third chapter from end…you can guess everything from that

12/5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. First - I have to say that the cast of performers in this audio version was maybe the most incredible group of performers ever! I feel like if you don’t do a side by side of audio and reading you are MISSING OUT on a truly incredible experience, I had not read this author and went in knowing little about her writing style or what I would be getting myself into. I am so thrilled with what I got out of this story as a reader- gripping from the beginning, all of the necessary shocks and twists while building a truly impressive story along the way! If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would absolutely do so!
