Counterstrain is a type of osteopathic manipulative treatment commonly used by osteopathic physicians throughout the United States and by osteopaths around the world.  Developed by Larry Jones DO in the 1950’s counterstrain osteopathic manipulative treatment focuses on the diagnosis on discrete myofascial tender points and treatment using passive patient positioning to relieve tenderness.   This iBook textbook covers the principles of counterstrain diagnosis and treatment using concise language and beautiful, easy to understand, photographs and anatomical illustrations.  Because the descriptions of the location and treatment positions for tender points vary slightly among different counterstrain textbooks, a comprehensive reference list is provided at the end of each chapter indicating the references used in this iBook for each tender point.
