Emperor's Edge Series. One of the best series of books I have ever read. Read one and you are hooked on the characters and plot. Absolutely Wonderful.

Forged in Blood II. I was disappointed that Trog didn’t get featured more, but I enjoyed the introduction of more female protagonists, however late it may be. There is an oversight in that Amaranthe seems to have forgotten how Retta joined the ancient tech program as discussed in book 5. I found the makarovi and gangs a strange choice for a final battle. The gangs suddenly mobbing them didn’t make sense. With all the soldiers’ presence disrupting their operations, invading their territory, and likely killing their members in the crossfire of the political upheaval, retaliating against them would take precedence over throwing people at the bounties of a dangerous pair who weren’t antagonizing them, especially when the ones who’d be paying Sicarius’ were getting assassinated. Vocab list this time: valise instead of suitcase, votaries instead of devotees, saturnine instead of somber, assiduous instead of diligent, ancillary instead of support, pate instead of head, corpulent instead of fat, recalcitrant instead of rebellious.

Over too soon!. I will miss this world and it's characters. I have a very eclectic love of books and genre and there are large spans of time and many books read that don't capture my imagination. When I come across a book or a series of books that engages me it is like a breath of fresh air. This series engaged me! I inhaled it from beginning to end without much of a detour around other books (I am usually reading at least three books at a time). I still have the prequels to read but I am going to greatly miss these characters. That to me is good writing - when you can't wait to read the next page but when you get to the end you regret it. Are these stories technical masterpieces....NO. Do I wish there was a little bit (a lot!) less talk of man parts....YES. Is the humor just plain bizarre sometimes....YES. Is the action realistic...NO. It doesn't matter. My imagination was captured and I was blessedly removed from everyday blah and given some adventure. Thank you Lindsay Buroker!

Recommend it....whole heartedly. Loved it! I couldn't seem to put it down.

Excellent!. The battles for power throughout Trugonia come to an end in this volume. A former was hero, Admiral Starcrest returns to the country at the urging of Sicarius. He is well liked and respected although most people believed him dead, not exiled. The violence continues though with foreign mages, assassinations, monsters released in the capitol as well as street gangs intent on plunder and the collection of bounties. This book keeps you on the edge of suspense as each opponent is conquered and yet like a hydra, two more appear to take its place.
