Abandon (The Abandon Trilogy, Book 1) by Meg Cabot Book Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.Pierce knows what it's like to die, because she's done it before. Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her.Now she's moved to a new town, but even here, he finds her. Pierce knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most. If she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

Rambling, heavy handed prose with flat characters. A painful read.. Mild spoilers below. I love Meg Cabot, and really wanted to like this book but it was basically unreadable. The narrator is insanely unlikable, bland, and has no growth or even desires of her own. The writing style is rambling and repetitive, peppered with flashbacks that drag on until you wish someone would drag you to the underworld yourself just to get away from this book. Nothing even happens until the last 1/4 or so of the book, and up until then itās just nonsensical inner monologue referring to āthe accidentā and āthe incidentā, which are apparently two different things. Not a single character has any development or noticeable motive and theyāre really flat and dull. The main character is the worst, the only thing she is interested in is a mysterious guy she met briefly a few times and now somehow her entire life revolves around him, watching him stalk her, and waiting for him to show up and get pissy with her then being shocked and disappointed when he does. The only personality trait we learn about Pierce is that her dad is rich and sheās spoiled and doesnāt care about anything except injured birds apparently. The e book is also riddled with editing issues such as open quotes and random parts being italicized for no reason. Save yourself the money and donāt bother with this heavy handed Greek mythology nonsense. Try The Mediator series instead, which seems to be everything this book wanted to be but actually has the heart to back it up!
This series was okay.... The girl pierce had to much of Stockholm syndrome with John... the way that the author portrays that this is okay is not right. Also I donāt really care for Pierceās personality she acts like the victim to many times. Not a good read
Love!!. Such a great series!!! Love it!!
