Love, Chocolate and Beer by Violet Duke Book Summary

-- A USA TODAY best-seller --
Brewmaster and town sweetheart Dani Dobson is officially declaring war against her hot, maddening new menace of a neighbor--and his shop. How the man manages to provoke her so much is beyond her. But he does, and really, she's just picking up the gauntlet he tosses her way.

The terms of their little throwdown? Her business versus his in the arena of romance.

And the stakes? Very likely, her heart.

Chocolatier and town newcomer Luke Bradford loves his shop's new home. Partly because he couldn't ask for a better fresh start for both his professional and personal life, and partly (okay, mostly) because he gets to lock horns with the feisty beer-brewing beauty next door, and effectively push all her buttons on a fairly regular basis.

To be fair, in his defense--

Just kidding. He has no defense.

As far as the meddling matchmakers in this quirky little town are concerned, this is going to be their most unlikely (and interesting) pairing yet...

"Violet Duke always writes such compelling, delightful characters who manage to pull you in and make you feel a part of their lives." -- #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy

♥ AUTHOR NOTE ♥
Be forewarned, this slow-burn romcom is definitely sweeter (and longer) than my other books (but there is still some on-page steam, as well as a few curse words--no f-bombs though, per usual). A book about a brewmaster and chocolatier battling over Valentine's Day supremacy? Yep, it was a given I was going to go all-out on the feel-good romance for this one. :) So if you're in the mood for a light and fun love story (with some of my token laugh-and-cry Violet Duke-ness, of course) between two stubbornly romantic characters who work hard for their happily ever after, this is the book for you! xoxo ♥ V

Good read. Love, chocolate, and beer what a combination! Fun and entertaining characters! Like the banter and sparks between the characters! Would recommend! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hidden gem.... Honestly, not something I would normally go for...but so glad I did. Love? Of course. Chocolate? Yes, please. Beer? Sure, why not. But out them together in a wonderfully delightful story, with amazing characters in a charming little town....I'm completely sold. I can't wait for the next installment, or the merchandise to go with it. Big fan, right here!

Disappointed. After Connor and Brian I thought this series would be good. It wasn’t. And I finally quit reading towards the end. Too boring.

Sighs, Laughs, & Aw's. I loved this story! The chemistry that Luke and Dani share is combustible! Their hilarious banter and very suggestive friends make this a fun read! With every turn of the page you don't know what you're going to get!!! I read it over and over again!!!!

Unique love story, story setting, and food and drink parings.... Great story! The depth of the characters is unlike most romance novels. Friendships, family, and of course love is woven into this interesting small town story. I love learning new things when I read any books, so learning about chocolate and beer making was fascinating. My first Violet Duke novel, and I have ready all of her books (twice) since reading this story. Can't wait for more!

Loved Visiting Cactus Creek. I really enjoyed this book and the story of Dani and Luke but also the story of the secondary characters that I am sure we will revisit. It was funny and touching.

Love love love. I love you more than chocolate! This book has beautiful chemistry and sweet romance. Loved it!!!

Love chocolate Natalia chocolate book have. 196 clymer street Brooklyn ny 11221

YUM. While reading about the romance between Luke and Dani, you seem to be drawn into it. As if they are real people, instead of just characters in a book. You laugh with them, and you cry with them. At one point, during the reading of this book, I had to put it down and walk away. Not because I didn't like the book, but because of what was happening at the time. I got the impression things were not going to turn out so very well, and I was not ready for it. Later when I went back and finished reading, I was so happy with how things turned out. I totally ejoyed this book and am waiting for the next one to come out. I would definitelly recommend this book to everyone that likes a really good romance.

Loved it!. Another great book from Violet Duke! I would definitely recommend reading this book!

Love chocolate and beer. A beautiful love story very well told. I didn’t want to put it down. Lots of action and intrigue. Laraine

Luke is awesome!. This is book one in the Cactus Creek series and it features Luke and Dani. It started out as a Valentine’s Day competition but turned into so much more. These two weren’t throwing off sparks. They were throwing off FLAMES! Luke wears his heart on his sleeve. Dani, not so much. She’s got MAJOR issues! After reading the whole book, I understand more about that. It just wasn’t easy watching Luke do all he did and get nothing but resistance back from her. He’s such an awesome guy! When all was said and done, so much more was at play. The story line is fantastic and had great flow! The characters are amazing and I would love to be friends with them in real life. I was so invested with what was happening to each and every character, my emotions were all over the place. I loved it! I would have liked to know more about Quinn and her son because they were such a huge part of Luke’s personal and business life but I guess that will have to wait for book two.

A Love Story To Enjoy. You can read this love story slowly and enjoy it. You don't have to race through it. Don't miss enjoying reading it slowly.

Hated it!!!. I wasn't able to read more than 2 chapters. Unrealistic, lacked romance and just ridiculous.

Totally unrealistic, but fun to read. I enjoyed the story of Dani, the brewmaster, & Luke, the chocolatier. There was a LOT of sexual banter between them that was fun. The sex was certainly given lots of pages, but was not nearly as explicit as it is in many books & for that I was grateful. Still there were plenty of places in the book that could have been improved with the less is more approach.

Love chocolate and beer. Another good book!!!!icant wait for the next book!!!!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. This book is sooooo cute!!! U just gotta love it!!!

Fall in love in Cactus Creek. Meet Dani - the Brew-master - closet romantic and Luke the Choclateier and hopeless romantic. We met them in Combustible Chemistry the prequel to this book. Holy Hefeweizen...I love this couple and how he really shows her what it is like to have a real Valentine. The perfect book for Valentines Day weekend or any time you want a good, sweet, lough out loud romance. You fall in love with all the charater from Quinn and Ryland, to Zoey and Isaac. Even Dani's brother Daniel makes an appearance. Can not wait until Book 2. Oh and you got to love Luke's parents doing recon work to check out Dani....perfect. Great book Violet.

Best Book Ever!. Every Violet Duke book I read is even better than the one before. I do not know how she does it! Love, Chocolate, and Beer is the best book ever! This author has amazing characters with fantastic, witty dialog. What makes the characters flesh out and become so believable is the fabulous way they are so multilayered. The author layers in a heavy dose of non-verbal communication, much like real life. Facial features, quirks, mannerisms, etc. all combine to give a believable three dimensional quality to the characters, the setting, and the story. This technique draws you in and makes you feel as if you know the characters. It makes you feel a part of the story, leaving you wanting to know more about the town, the people, and what the future holds for your new friends.

Couldn't finish it. I'm in the minority. This book did not hold my attention. Loved Luke. Their constant competition became childish. I quit half way through.

Love!. Excellent book. Loved it. There's not a part in it I didn't like. The story line was great! I wish she had more books like this. I will be checking to see what other books she has.

Love, Chocolate, and Beer. Reading this book seems it's far from being completed? I read the first two chapters and had no idea "still" what was going on? The introduction to the story was horribly done. By chapter 2 I'm ready to put the book down for lack of flow. The has no order.

Beer and chocolate...what more is there!. Yet again, another wonderful book from Violet Duke! I have loved every book I have read from her so far! This book is in the Cactus Creek Series (which is an awesome series BTW). I love how Violet takes 2 people who are not likely to end up together and make them work! Who wouldn’t love a chocolatier though? Their love story is wonderfully written. There are sparks for sure, but not always the romantic kind. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Love!!!. I've read this series over and over!!! Amazing!

Repetition and long. The book is long and didn't capture my attention. I don't mind a long book if it keeps me interested. It is a good idea, setting and characters but the author didn't told the story right. I was expecting something really good with all the good comments but honestly I was bored reading it. Something I hated from this book and happened a lot is when the author didn't tell you what the text message or sext message was or part of a conversation was not completed a a reader you want to know most of the things the characters say to each other. It was annoying, feels like the author didn't have enough imagination to complete the text messages. I don't recommend.

Captivating. I love this story

FANTASTIC!!!. What a great book. It was heart warming and romantic and slyly sexy. Loved the quirky characters and their development within the story. I am looking forward to reading more in this series. Thank you to the author for a wonderful experience.

A fantastic start to a series. I was given this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Dani Dobson is a brewmaster and owns her own brewpub that her father ran. Luke Bradford, a chocolatier, just moved himself and his chocolate shop into town. Luke puts his foot in his mouth when he says Chocolate is more romantic than beer. Guantlet is thrown. Dani takes offence and offers a challenge in letting the town vote which is more romantic cholate or beer. To be determined on Valentine's Day. The fun and chaos goes from there. I absolutely loved this book. There are many laugh out loud moments, Which is my favorite type of book to read. We meet several of the townspeople including Xoey, her zingy comeback bartender and the very hot band leader Rylan. We also meet Luke's parents who are hilarious and awesome! This is a great start to a new series! Can't wait to read the next one!

Love, Chocolate ,And Beer. This book is wonderful . I can not wait for the next instulament in the series! If you have not read any of Violets books yet this is a great place to start . The friendships in the book are wonderful an make you want to go hug your friends :)

#TEAM Chocolate 🍫. So sweet love “juniper and hops” Absolutely FANTASTIC! Thank You 🎉 Great read ❤️definitely a WINNER. Excellent job!

Love,Chocolate and Beer. Loved the book. And all The charters. Loved the story line and the happy ending. Can’t say enough.

Love violet duke. Her books have the best stories. These characters come to life.

I didnt want it to end!. I loved everything. I want more

So so. This was terrible

Slow Read & Same Theme over and over..... Same conflict and themes over and over in each chapter. Good characters and interesting setting and theme. Lost interest in the back and forth storyline that kept rehashing the same feelings and ideas of the main characters with no good reason. It developed at a snails pace. Good potential, but it seemed overwritten and bulked up for length's sake.

Love chocolate and beer. Very sweet romantic and funny

Sweet treat. This is a great book about trusting the one you love with everything. It is also about brewing craft beers and creating chocolates to enhance your experience with beer and wine. Thus was my first book by this author and I loved the way she told her story.

Couldn't keep my attention. I liked the prequel but that was all. Too much of the same thing chapter after chapter.

Hallmark Cheesy Read. If you want a mushy, cute, hallmark love story— then read this novel!

Love it!!!. You're amazing!!! I can't get enough of your books!!! Now I have a new series to read...I'm speechless! Thanks you never disappoint!!!

Love. Loved, loved, loved this book!!

Love, Chocolate, and Beer. Great story line but does get a bit convoluted at times and difficult to follow. Still recommend reading

love. I absolutely love every book i have read of Violet Duke and this one is no exception i fell in love with Dani and Luke from the very beginning and look forward to reading more of this series :)

Awesome. Chocolate and Beer who could ask for anything more Luke that is he wants to connect with Dani in a big way but she’s feisty. These characters are engaging and well developed and the chemistry is awesome. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved It!. This was my first time reading any of Mrs. Violet Duke's work and I loved it! I love the small kooky town and the caring characters in it. I especially love Dani. She's spunky with a very big heart. This book takes you through her journey of finding love and forgiveness. This book took me through a spectrum of emotions. If you haven't read any of Mrs. Violet Dukes books yet I recommend giving this one a try.😊

Wow!. This was a very uplifting and inspiring love story. The developing tension and depth of relationship between the characters was exciting. Loved the banter.

Make this a movie!. I loved this book, it was well written! This was my first Violet Duke book and I can't wait to read the others! It made me laugh, cry, and even made me stop and think about love and how we all celebrate different. Would love for this book to become a movie. ❤️

Good if.... It was about half as long. It was so long and tediously dull. Really probably would have enjoyed it if it was around 200 pages.

💏🍫🍻. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I rode every emotion & it was awesome!! Well written & great style. Even the adult moments were creatively described. Nice touch! 👌

Beer and Chocolate. Dani is a brew master like her dad, she wants to help her brother start his own winery. She meets Luke and feels things she has never allowed herself to. Once she realizes he owns the Chocolate shop across the street they start a competition. I loved watching it play out i love the way Violet Duke creates the story makes me feel like I am in Cactus Creek

Brilliant. What a brilliant start to the series can't wait to read the rest x

Romance is alive. What a great concept for a story, I loved the chocolate vs beer battle!

Recommended Read. Another outstanding book by the lovely Violet Duke. Sweet, sassy, sexy and full moments that made me swoon, I literally could not put this book down! The characters a relatable and as much heartbreak there is in the book it is equally full if love and laughter. The secondary characters are just as fabulous, I can't wait for more books in this series so I can enjoy their stories too. Violet Duke had the uncanny ability to pull at your heart strings whilst also causing the biggest of grins at the sweetness of her stories. Overall a brilliant story that flowed beautifully throughout.

Too wordy. This book is written in a way that makes it difficult to read. Gave up half way through.

Loving the new series by VD!. I've been eagerly awaiting the new series by Violet Duke and as far as I'm concerned, she can do no wrong! I loved so much about this book: I loved the main charactors - beer-brewing Dani and chocolatier Luke - and thoroughly enjoyed the secondary charactors too! The story was a pure delight to read - it flowed seamlessly and I was smiling throughout most of it! I love all of Violet Duke's books but have to say that this is my favorite thus far. I cant wait for the next books in this series. Don't hesitate to purchase this book as you wont be disappointed.

Love, Chocolate and Beer. Great first book to the Cactus Creek series. Loved Luke and Dani. Can't wait to read Hudson and Lia's story.

Complex & compelling. Beautiful story of love, life and dreams

Super romance. It's romance on steroids and I love it!!! I can't wait for the other characters love stories to read. How about making one too for the exes - Eric and Angie ?

Love, Chocolate and Beer. Fun book. Loved the characters and info about beer and chocolate making. Like this author.

Sugar sweet. A lovely story that could use some editing. Too many characters and multiple unfinished tangents. Much in need of streamlining.

Contrived!!!boring!!!how did this get published!!!!. Do no waste your time!!!

Good 3 combination. Like the realistic story, love challenges and of course the ending. Highly recommended to read.
