The Young Elites by Marie Lu Book Summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Legend series

I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.
Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

Awwsome book. i really like the book especialy the part were he pulls her habd away fro, her neck and kisses her that was a really intence seen. why did that hot shot enzo have to frikin die he is so cute!!!😍😍

Absolutely Amazing but Predictable. The novel's writing was flawless, and the plot was very strong. However, I enjoy a good twist towards the end of the story and the only big "twist" in the book I had predicted from the beginning. Don't get me wrong the only thing taking the fifth star of my rating is this factor, so I would highly recommend this book!!

The Young Elites. I LOVED Marie Lu's Legend series. So maybe my expectations were too high with the Young Elites series. I was so disappointed with the main character and if I am honest I found it boring. I forced myself to continue reading hoping it would get better. I don't think I will bother reading the next book.

GREAT SERIES. I would recommend this series to everyone and you start to really love the characters in this series! I promise that you will cry as you read the last book, it is so sad but it is one of the most beautiful endings I have ever read! This is a MUST in the reading list

Highly Recommend. This is by far my favourite book series, ever. I definitely recommend it to people who enjoy a slow burn series, because it can take a bit to get started but it’s definitely worth the read

I CAN'T EVEN!!. This book is breaking my heart, I don't know what to do with my life anymore this book is so good that I don't even want to read any other books in fear that they won't be as good as this book. This book is so amazing I recommend this to everyone. I don't know how I barley found out about this book. My mind is blown away

Books Don’t Make Me Cry... Until Now. I’ve never cried from a book before, and I’ve read all of the Red Queen series that’s out and read Divergent while never shedding a single tear, though it was hard. So I just made history, I guess. Adelina never did anything wrong but is cursed with a horrible past and future. I guess loss makes a character stronger, and considering she felt such great losses in the first book, I can’t imagine how strong Adelina will be in the last book if this continues!

BROO. IM CRYING i've read this book like 6 times and every time it makes me cry without fail like it's just so good the story is amazing i love u marie lu this book changed my life 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Disappointing in every way. Everything from the plot to characters to descriptions of places and scenes was sloppy. I often really enjoy “YA” fantasy series despite some weaknesses, but this book was ALL weaknesses with nothing to make up for it.

Great book. Dark

LOVE IT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Beautiful and Though Provoking. I have never read a Marie Lu book before, but this will definitely not be the last one. I love that it gets into the mindset of a person who could in the end be the villain. This book addresses how life issues, human emotions, and morales are not always black and white.

Percy Jackson like. The book comes out the same day as blood of Olympus and the publishers weekly review was done the same day as Percy bday

Loved and hated it. This is honestly one of the worst books I've ever read. The beginning is amazing and then the plot slowly begins to weaken and fall down the drain. I just finished it and the ending leaves my heart sad and empty. Ugh! I can't believe I thought it was good in the beginning! I thought things would get better! Some of it was quite good though...

Plot holes galore. I read the legend series and loved it so I decided to give this a try. Two words: what happened? If you are looking for a perfect example of underdeveloped characters and an extremely poorly planned plot, look no further. You've found it. There's also no suspension. All the important information is given within the first 60 pages. No surprises. Put this down and go read a good book. If you'd like an example of how to correctly write a book with amazing characters and intricate plot, read Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

Awesome. Great book. I could not put it down. I hope that they make a new one.

:/. Could have been waaaayyy worse, but it wasn’t. I’m glad for that.

It was pretty boring. Boring

Wonderful and stunning novel!. This is a hit novel by one of the best authors I know. Her writing will intertwine you in its words and you will find yourself waiting for another chance to read it. The story constantly keeps readers on their toes until the climax and through to the end.

The Young Elites. This book was terrible. It took me so long to get through it and I didn't even finish it. This book was the cause of the longest reading slump I've ever had. I hate not finishing books, but I literally could not finish this one. The plot was not creative at all and the characters were so undeveloped. I read up to page 200 and I still hated every one of the characters and didn't care about their fate at all. Possibly one of the worst books I've ever read…

All Hype No Substance. After reading about the praise this book received I was so excited to purchase this title. The further along I got into this book I kept wondering when will things get interesting, unfortunately it never did and I felt like I threw 10 dollars in the garbage after reading this sleeper.

Breathtaking😍. I loved every single part of the book, the characters are amazing, somo of them you can relate to. It is action packed and simply, one of the best books I've ever read.

Ahhh. I am an absolute fan of Marie Lu and I can't believe this is going to come out the same day of the Blood of Olympus

YAYA. I was so happy that this amazing author made another book and got it right away! So far, I love it!!!

AMAZINGLY REALISTIC! 😱. People think books always need to end with a surge of happiness. In reality life does not always end happily. Some people even have bad lives like The main character "the white wolf". 😊 I love her character development in the end also it just shows what great potential she has for these books.

I CAN'T EVEN!!!. I just finished the book and I can't even. It was so dark and deep. The characters aren't good or bad. They all have a dark side. It kept the story interesting and thought provoking. The overall atmosphere and feeling was simply very dark! Marie Lu's writing is captivating, I shall not rest until I get to read the sequel! -Kats

Beautiful.. Absolutely stunning and my favourite series. I love how the characters are flawed. I love how they're not perfect, and they have a character. They have scars. They have stories. Some are straight, son aren't. Some are good, some aren't. It's so beautiful.
