Loving Lauren. Great story! It was was great to get to know the characters! Very romantic and passionate!

Clearly the start to an incredible series. It's been years since Lauren has seen Chase, years since her parents died and left her to raise her sisters and run the ranch, years since Chase stepped in and helped her hang on to the one thing that seemed to keep what was left of her family together. But now Chase is back, not to call in her debt but to work at his dad's veterinary practice — and work on making a place for himself in Lauren's life. But... Upon the deaths of her parents, Lauren learned that her father had taken a rather large loan from two good friends, with the stipulation that if it wasn't paid back, they were to take over managing the ranch. Rather than lose the ranch, Lauren agreed to let Chase give her the money, but in exchange, he insisted they get married. Part of me can understand that a young guy looking to hang onto the girl he loved might manipulate things that way, and it's not like he didn't let her continue to lead her own life without him. But I can't really understand why Lauren didn't eventually seek to get the marriage annulled. They weren't tied together in any way except on paper, and it just didn't make sense that she (a) let herself get roped into a marriage that was just a big secret, and (b) let that hang over her forever. The Verdict: I grabbed Loving Lauren as part of a freebie sale, and it's clearly the start to an incredible series. For as much as I didn't understand the marriage for money bit, especially since Chase simply left for college and never spoke of it again, Lauren's story was very interesting. She's stubborn and self-reliant, giving up everything to care for her younger sisters, maintain the family ranch, and hang on to what she can of her pride. Her determination to pay Chase back, even though that was never part of the deal, has her scrimping and saving money she could really use on the aging house she can barely maintain. Her relationship with her sisters is sometimes rocky, but in that sense it's real. She does the best she can to keep her family from falling apart. Chase's reemergence in her life is a shock, and she does her best not to face it. But she can't deny her attraction to him, and he's certainly not doing anything to stay away from her. Before she knows it, she's falling into something of a relationship with him, even when she won't really admit that she needs him, and for his part, Chase is amazingly patient and understanding. Lauren's life has been all about the family, the ranch, and the finances, all at the expense of any semblance of a personal life, so Chase's slow approach to moving forward with her was exactly what she needed. Granted, he still had to push a little, if for no other reason than to counter her stubbornness, but it made him the perfect romantic hero. I'd love to say I'm going to stick with this series, but we all know how limited my book budget is, and I'm not sure I can swing the other six books to finish it off. It sounds like until I can convince the Austin Public Library to buy them (of course I've already submitted the requests!) I'll have to find another country-themed romance to tide me over…

Love. Oh my goodness!!! This book is amazing I find it kind of relatable to my life and I dislike reading and I couldn't put it down!

BEST BOOK EVER. This book is amazing I about cried when it ended bc I didn't want it to I can't wait to read the rest in the series. I never read and now I'm hooked.

Ugh. It took me a while to finish this. It was just okay. I feel bad not giving good reviews, but had I read this review I would probably pass on the book. I was already vested in the book so I had to finish it. Yikes. It was drawn out and there wasn't a real story just a cluster of events that really didn't have anything to do with the other. Good luck if you do read it.

Underdeveloped but good bones. This is a light read. Underdeveloped in many cases and proclamations of love based on physical traits or the way you feel rather than the heart. Strong opener with an emotionally engaging scene but it fizzled, repeated parts and lacked the emotional connection the beginning offered.

Great book. Was hooked from the beginning. Sweet story. Can't wait to read next book.

Boring!. This book is so dull, 100 pages in and nothing has happened. The main characters have no personality. The narration drags on and on. What is the point of this book?

Loving Lauren. Not as bad as the author's "Pride" series, but still needs editing and proofreading. Story is ok, characterization above average. An ok summer read if you ignore the spelling, grammar, and incorrect word usage.

Good romance story. Good romance story for a weekend read.

Great story. The story is beautiful and has a lot of interesting characters. This is about a tragedy that turns into a lovely story about young love and responsibility. I absolutely loved it.

Loving Lauren. Good story, but the use of "then" instead of "than" drove me crazy. Poor proof reading meant many similar grammatical errors, which were distracting.

Too many typos. I could not read beyond the first chapter because of all the mistakes (e.g. ladies dress instead of lady’s dress). Errors break the flow of the story. I don’t understand how there could be so many editing mistakes in the first chapter and the writer and/or editor didn’t catch the mistakes.

Okay. It was an okay book. Not a lot of character development. Not emotionally attached and going to explore other authors before I invest in finishing the series.

Smut. This book is a sin. Enough said.

Loving Lauren. I will give it 4 stars. Although the story continue, it slowed down in a couple of places, and it stalled out.

Loved “Loving Lauren”. I enjoyed every page. I love when an author gives enough of a setting description for context, but let’s me, as the reader, fill in the nuances. The denouement was classic. The love story was sweet and funny and frustrating at times, in other words, realistic. I’m glad I downloaded this book. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Easy reading. This is a very readable story, jogs along at a nice pace. Introduces other characters as it goes. It lost a star because the back story could have been investigated further. Theres no real explanation as to why some things happened other than that a satisfying read.

Tone was boring and emotionless. Skipped 85-90% of it. I didn’t like the tone it struck. Like someone reading an incredibly boring text book on Tax Law in a Monotone. It was so sleep inducingly boring and had no emotional weight. At no point in the first 2-3 chapters was I drawn into or emotionally invested. 👎👎👎

Loved!. This is book 1 in the West series and follows Chase and Lauren. Lauren is the eldest of 3 girls who lost their mum at very young ages. Now as an adult she is still trying to play mum and handle all the responsibilities that the family has. Chase is someone Lauren knew growing up. He's come back to town and has Lauren running scared. The dynamics in this story are witty, sad, romantic and at times suspenseful. Jill is a master crafts woman when it comes to suspense romances. She is an author that I have come to thoroughly enjoy and will continue to read, her work being of this standard.

Sisters bonding together. Sisters protecting and loving each other is a beautiful story.

Maybe a young girl's sweet romance. Not sure if this was the author's first attempt at writing... The premise was unrealistic, and the actions of 'smiling' or 'crossing one's arms' was too repetitive. (Unfortunately, there are several typos that need to be corrected, too.) Sorry.
