Republic. FANTISTIC! Lindsay Buroker has once again delivered a fantastic tale filled with intrigue, action and romance. Unique problems plague our heros (again) and they must work as a team to save the newly formed republic. This book, set after the Emperor's Edge series, lets the reader catch up with old friends as well as meet new ones. (Dak is my new favorite!)

Republic. This book had a lot more depth than the rest of the series, though it could still use some proofreading. It’s kind of sad that Akstyr had less presence than Books, who’s dead, and highlights the fact that importing a trained practitioner would’ve saved everyone a lot if trouble. Some oddities included a strange amount of importance placed on retrieving Deret’s cane, the convenient acquisition of self-contained suits for the submarine, Mahliki somehow surviving a sledgehammer to the head and being able to fight shortly after. Vocab list this time: edification instead of improvement, rictus instead of grimace, connubial instead of conjugal, adroit instead of skillful, verdurous instead of verdant, insensate instead of inanimate, proboscis instead of snout, malaise instead of unhappiness, chaff instead of banter, adventitious instead of random.

This whole series has been amazing!!. Ugh! It’s over?! But, I still want more. This author’s built an awesome (yet simple) steampunk-style universe with absolutely incredible characters. If you stumble upon this book, please start from the beginning of this series. I typically like future sci-fi and space-faring, but even set in simpler times the characters and plot(s) had simply captured my attention. I could read 10 more books like these. Thank you!

Loved it!. I can't say enough about this series. I loved it from the very beginning to the last page of Republic. Multi-dimensional characters, intriguing plot lines, written with intelligence and wit all combine in this perfect fantasy series.

Yes!. If you have read the previous EE series, stop everything you are currently doing and read Republic, you will be rather put out if you do not do otherwise. Seriously, it is absolutely fantastic, complete with quirky, more than slightly inappropriate humor and innuendos :)

Fantastic. Loved the entire series, short stories and the intertwining of everybody's lives.

An enjoyable read. I missed all these characters And it was enjoyable to read about their latest combined adventures.

The best !!!. I know this Republic will be great based on other Lindsay's book, but I didn't expect it to be this GREAT!!! I can't wait to read more about Sespian and Mahliki with tidbits of my favorite assassin and Amaranthe in the background. It's so beautiful how Basilard's diplomat position got woven into the story, and how Books will never be forgotten because the whole new republic was based on Book's Constitution. I enjoyed mostly Maldynado, the bravest Turgonian in my book. He so deserves the honor of the presidential palace being named after him. Hopefully the next book will mention and describe his majestic statue by the main entrance of the Presidents's Residence...

Fin. I'm truly sorry to see the series go. I've burned through all in too short of time. But a very nice finish says it all!

Another great story from Ms Buroker. Having read the Emperor's Edge series I wondered what it would be like revisiting the characters in a new novel. I should have known that it would be a highly enjoyable, fast paced book with plenty of humour. The banter between the characters made me laugh more than once and the complex story line kept me engaged all the way through the book - alien plants, sabotage, political strife and romance to list just parts of the plot. This is a stand alone book so you don't have to have read the Emperor's Edge series to enjoy it. But the earlier books will help you understand the relationships between a number of the characters and some of the banter and anyway they are also a great read!

J Blaikie. Great characters, action rarely falters settings are imaginative, dialogue is always consistent.

Big fan. I loved the story. Adding the Starcrest characters revived the series. Hope there’s more. Wish this had been on Audible.
