Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella Book Summary

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life . . .

“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover

Sophie Kinsella returns to her beloved Shopaholic series with Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) newly arrived in Hollywood and starry-eyed. She and her two-year-old daughter, Minnie, have relocated to L.A. to join Becky’s husband, Luke, who is there to handle PR for famous actress Sage Seymour. Becky can’t wait to start living the A-list lifestyle, complete with celebrity sightings, yoga retreats, and shopping trips to Rodeo Drive. But she really hopes to become a personal stylist—Sage’s personal stylist—if only Luke would set up an introduction. Then, unexpectedly, Becky is offered the chance to dress Sage’s archrival, and though things become a bit more complicated, it’s a dream come true!

Red carpet premieres, velvet ropes, paparazzi clamoring for attention—suddenly Becky has everything she’s ever wanted.

Or does she?

Praise for Shopaholic to the Stars

“A witty novel with the twists of a soap and the laughs of a rom-com.”—InTouch

“Shopaholic Becky is funnier than ever as she tries to make it in Hollywood as a celeb stylist.”—People

“Our beloved heroine Becky hilariously juggles motherhood and a new career. . . . Sophie Kinsella is such a genius.”—Redbook

“It’s impossible not to fall in love with Becky and her antics, and this latest offering doesn’t disappoint. With appeal for fans of Kinsella’s prior Shopaholic books, this one will draw in new fans as well. Like the first six in the series, [Shopaholic to the Stars] is screamingly funny and lots of fun.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Take the caustic wit of Gillian Flynn and the comedy of manners of Edith Wharton, add a British accent—that’s Sophie Kinsella.”—The Globe and Mail

“Fans of the series who love Becky just as she is (and has always been) will enjoy this seventh series entry. . . . Kinsella expertly plots this story and deftly drops in some unexpected twists.”—Library Journal

“Becky is a truly engaging narrator. She may be self-centered, a shopping addict and a bit flighty, but she’s also good-natured and genuinely funny. It’s a joy to accompany her on her journey, no matter how tangled it seems at times. A light, enjoyable read that’s pure escapism.”—Kirkus Reviews

“Winsome Becky’s romp through Hollywood will thoroughly entertain readers, and the novel’s conclusion neatly paves the way for Becky’s next adventure.”—Booklist

“Loyal fans who have enjoyed Kinsella’s flakey protagonist in previous stories will enjoy this outing.”—Fredericksburg Free Lance–Star

“Kinsella fans will be ecstatic for this long-awaited addition to the author’s Shopaholic series. Lighthearted, warm, funny—Kinsella rules the red carpet with Becky’s new Hollywood adventures. A little unsolved mystery at the end may cause the paparazzi to swarm Becky’s home and leave readers wanting more.”—RT Book Reviews

So disappointed. I look forward to all Sophie Kinsella books especially The Shopaholic series! The end of the book left me saying REALLY!!?? What kind of ending was that? Horrible. I'm so bummed. I'm hoping the next Sophie book won't leave me feeling this way.

Half of a book. Will hate the ending!. I have to give an obligatory five stars to this book as this is my favorite author. However, any Kinsella/ Wickham fans will be outraged by this ending. She leaves the entire book open in a poor cliff hanger style. She doesn't tie up a single loose end. Yes, all the characters and wit is there as normal, however they do not take their normal course to completion. Wickham has sold out and written a Hollywood style book that demands that one reads the next book in the series. This book cannot stand on it's own. I am gravely disappointed. However, like any junkie, I will read the next book in this series.

Ugh. Disappointed with the ending. Also, Becky has learned and grown with each book in the series, in this one, she is selfish and not true to character. Unfortunate that this wasn't done better.

hideously tedious. overly long, always scraping for a plotline-beyond dumb-a total waste of time

Disappointing. I love Sophie Kinsella's work but this book was a letdown. Combining shopping with Hollywood gossip-- how can you go wrong? The situations she put Becky in were at times, unbelievable. As much as I love this character, it was frustrating to read how immature she was behaving. One bad situation to another. And then, leaving the ending hanging was infuriating. I will think twice before purchasing another book.

Not her best book. Funny at times, but honestly it just dragged on.

Went awry but back on track?. I was about to give up on this book and entire series until the last quarter of the book. Becky's character was off the rails and I could hardly read another crazy word. The characters were too fR out of character. For now I will stick with the series. The conclusion of this book (apparently in the next book) I hope will be less irritating.

WHAT THE &&**??!!!!. I was eagerly anticipating this book's arrival and it was a HUGE disappointment!! Where's the rest of it? Did Miss Kinsella forget to add the last chapter?? This was definitely a miss! I've thoroughly enjoyed every book in the shopaholic series but this disaster right here. I hope she redeems herself in her next book or she WILL lose her fan base! SMDH !!

Are you kidding me?!. This book is a ginormous disappointment! Becky acts like a child straight through the book, and when things finally start looking up and the book begins getting good, she ends it with a cliffhanger. NOTHING is resolved by the end of the book. Terrible.

Scam. Where's the ending????????!!!!!!!

Shopaholic to the Stars. I love this series and now it's a cliffhanger...what's happened to Becky's dad!? I will wait in earnest!

Excellent. This book is following in its predecessors footsteps. Really good. I even think that it's possible better than the other ones!

Shopaholic to the Stars. Great Book.. very funny! I have to say I hated the ending.. I'm sure there will be a book 2..there is a book 2..right??? 😳

Shopaholic to the stars. This book was very disappointing especially when there is no end to it. I guess this is part one of two. I wish that I had known this before purchasing it.

Shopaholic to the stars. I didn't enjoy this book so much. I had read all her books and had my own picture of Becky and the movie with the American star wasn't Becky for me but she has spoilt my enjoyment of the books
