Read this series!. Just AMAZING!

Omg read this. The book brought me tears yet somehow at the same time filling me with immense emotion that I can’t even describe. Mare is a queen. A beautiful, strong, kick butt woman, that we all need in our lives. The plot twist left me sad for days after I finished and that’s a good thing! PLEASE READ THIS😩.It checked all my boxes.fantasy. Dystopian. Supernatural power. Strong female lead. And lastly an amazing love interest.

Absolutely amazing. This is one of the best books I’ve read. It makes you never want to put it down. I 100% recommended!!

Okay. Overall the book got really boring after chapter 26 and was predictable Mare is not a terrible mc but her dialogue becomes annoying as the book goes on the frequent time skips made it hard for character and relationship development it also made it hard to like any characters but i do hear it gets better later on the series would be good for younger kids and I am currently struggling through the second book but i feel that this series would be much better if maven and mare were endgame🤞🏾

really loved it tho. I saw a girl in class had this book and it seemed interesting so abt a year later i bought it. This was one of my biggest yet favorite mistakes. I was so mentally distressed to the point i cried 5 times. Which is common for me since i get very emotional. But i was so erked and i couldn’t even get through. skipped to the end because it is a very nice book so i wanted to see if it improved. it did not. i ended up crying more out of pure confusion. such a good book but it made me want to jump out of my second floor window.

FAVORITE BOOK EVER. Mare is the ultimate female protagonist and i totally felt and related to her. I loved all of the world building and complex character development. My biggest peeve with YA fantasy books is the lack of character flaw and BOY does this have character flaw. I loved glass sword so much. i hate to say the next two just didn’t hit the spot but kudos for the great beginnings!

Just read it ALREADY!. This is EXACTLY what every lover of fantasy and sci-fi has been searching for. An intoxicating blend of magic, betrayal, hope and romance. All culminating into a page turner with so many twists & turns you’ll need GPS to guess what happens next. Every chapter leaves you breathless and longing for more!

I thought it was AMAZING!!!!!. Had twists and interesting characters. A very good book. Used too be one of my faves but not so much anymore. A must read! I loved it but it starts out slow it’s the end that makes it good. Great book for any fans of dystopian and fantasy books.The end was just so emotional... only problem with these books is they r very uneven, some parts r slow and kinda boring then it gets really good, so it’s not a smooth sorta book. *SPOILER ALERT* I loooooove Maven and was crying 😭 when he betrayed Mare, hope he turns good somehow...

Perfect amount of romance. Binge-read the second and third books directly after I read this. Couldn’t put it down. I love it.

Loved this series. When I first started the series I thought it was going to be too young and immature since I’m reading it at 21. That being said, a well written series and a great plot. Was really sad when I finished the books. I highly recommend!

It was alright. The book isn’t that great. It sounds good, but once you start reading you feel like you’re on a roller coaster. It felt like it was going way too fast! One minute she’s here and then the next she’s there without any back story or a path to build up to it. I’m not sure how both brothers fall for her when you don’t really see them having time to interact with on another. The author should have gave the characters more depth. But I’m going to read the 2nd one and hope it’s not too bad as this one!

Red Queen is THE best.. Red Queen is the literal G.O.A.T of books! It is full of twists, each and every one so obvious yet able to slip under you and surprise you at the same time. This book is a prodigy. You must read it. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Started this book 18 hours ago. Granted, I stopped to sleep, but I couldn’t put this book down. After reading the sample I was hooked. Aveyard created a world that was easy to slip into, and I loved living in. Can’t wait to see where this adventure goes.

OMG. I loved this book. It was filled with twists and turns and kept you on your toes. I don’t know if it was jus me but i was extremely surprised by the plot twists in here. 20/10 would totally recommend. 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Enjoyed it but. It was well written. I wish there was more dialogue that made the relationships stronger vs so much description about everything else. It has a very hunger games vibe. Straight down to the dome, love interest in the past and now present, fighting, the capital. There’s are to many similarities to ignore.

I cant finish this. I just cant finish Red Queen. Mare is annoying. Who wouldn’t be at least a bit grateful that she was saved from poverty AND war?! Mare tries to be the “Great female lead” but it just doesn’t work, basically a walmart hunger games.

Amazing read!. I’ve read this series about 3 or 4 times! (Come to buy the book again cause I lent it out and it got lost 🙃) Each time, I realized something new or figured out a different twist. I love Mare and how easy it is to relate to her. The plot is amazing and the way Victoria Aveyard tells the story is captivating. So sad the series the over!!

Read!. I would give my soul to read this for the first time again

red queen. very intricate and unique plot; clique storyline of how the main character starts out less wealthy and moves up in life but the execution of the plot really makes up for this. Very unpredictable ending.

SO GOOD! The twists and turns are fantastic. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat reading this! Finished in the first 2 days. Also living for the love interests!! Definitely recommend, this is a great read

Good. It was very interesting and i finished in two days. I loved the twists at the ends and I liked Mare as a character. This book angered me in a good way that engaged me more.

COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN😆♥️. In the beginning of the book you really just want to throw it across the room and forget about it, but then it pulls you in with a mysterious yet comforting new world. I loved this book so much and about to read the next one. *SPOILER ALERT* I hated the fact that Maven turned aginst Mare and Cal. For some crazy reason though, my mind hopes that Maven becomes good again. "Why that is, I don't know." - at first it bothered me but now I have gotten used to it.

AMAZING READ!. This book was all around fantastic. The writing , the suspense, even the unlikeable characters held my interest. I cannot wait to read the next book, for Mare to rise above the Silvers and Maven.., and the “Queen”. The ending was so unexpected and my anxiety went up. But I’m so glad that The Red once again outsmarted the Silvers

Amazing. Characters are awesome. The thrills and action keep me going. I just started book 2 glass swords.

Always wanting more. This book was amazing. I used it as a pass time for flights home from school, and absolutely fell in love. I was constantly wanting more the whole time and the ending left me craving to read the rest of the series. Only issue was rushing some sentimental points, but otherwise amazing.

Beware. This is a warning for those about to start or questioning if they want to start this series. The first three books were fantastic. Couldn’t put them down. The fourth book, mostly the ending, was such an immense disappointment I felt the need to come and warn others of what’s the come. If you’re going to start this series, beware that the ending is rushed and leaves you questioning everything with no resolution to any ongoing issues. If you’re okay with that, then read on. I loved the characters and plot, but in the end I’m so sad with the series ending the way it did.

10/10. When I walked into school I had 2 copies of this same book to let my friends borrow and let’s just say when I walked out I had literally 12 kids beging me to let them borrow the book next. The seres is a work of art!

Just Okay. If your looking for a light, fluffy, quick read this is a good choice. The story is likeable, the writing is easy and fast paced. If your in it for character development this isn’t the book for you. The characters are pretty flat and I found myself not caring what happened to them. I don’t plan on finishing the series.

Great Premise But Bland Characters. I used to LOVE Red Queen, but I had a big issue with the characters: they lacked originality, depth, and meaningful development throughout the entire series, especially Mare. She tried too hard to be a Strong Independent Female Lead but failed because of her self-pitying, selfish, and arrogant nature which only worsens later on. I did enjoy the plot (slightly predictable but dramatic) and the magic and writing are fun. If you value plot over characters, pick this one up! If not, maybe skip it because the series (mostly characters) kind of goes downhill from here.

incredible. upon reading that this book had a strange assortment of powers scattered amongst people, i wasn’t sure i’d enjoy it (not my thing).. but this book just keeps the pages turning for you. about to read the 2nd book now (:

Omg this is like the best book everrrr ❤️. I absolutely loved this book. Like what’s not to love about it?? I thought mare is such a powerful character and so brave! I did think that the beginning was kind of slow but it’s still a fast moving book. *SPOILER ALERT* I first didn’t like Maven but then he got better and then at the end it was so surprising and now I hate him. Cal is cool and I think there is something between Mare and him. Again I think this is so good but at some parts (especially at the end) it’s very emotional and sad and it will make u wanna cry. Also I don’t know why they call it red queen when Mare wasn’t a queen but wtvr. 😭😭But still very good. Worth reading. 😁😁😁

Great book. I can't wait for the next one in the series

Good but not great. "Mare Barrow's world is divided by blood-those with red and those with silver. Mare and her family are lowly Reds, destined to serve the Silver elite whose supernatural abilities make them nearly gods. A twist of fate leads her to the royal palace itself, where, in front of the king and all his nobles, she discovers a power of her own-an ability she didn't know she had. Except . . . her blood is Red. To hide this impossibility, the king forces her into the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks her new position to aid the Scarlet Guard-the leaders of a Red rebellion. Her actions put into motion a deadly and violent dance, pitting prince against prince-and Mare against her own heart." This book was actually a second attempt for me. It took me two tries to get though the book. I got irritated half way through the first time and stopped reading it. Touted as the next big thing and everyone is raving about it but I just wasn’t amazed by it. To me this was not an original plot, it was good but not great compared to similar books of this genre. For example: The Hunger Games, An Ember in the Ashes, the Pellinor Trilogy, etc. One thing I did like about the plot was some of the little details that were thrown in. For example, the people in this world are not just divided by ability but by their actual biology as well; red and silver blood. I also really liked that Mare’s ability comes from within herself and not outside like the Silvers. At one point Mare says that it’s like her lightning is part of her soul and I wonder if it is. ****** SPOILERS AHEAD ****** I actually quite liked Mare as a character mostly because at least most of the time she is level headed and practical. And I love that her ability is lightning; a force of nature that cannot be tamed. Lastly, that she realizes there is a grey area and not everything is black and white or Red and Silver. But I think what I like most is that Mare chose a path and stuck to it. She was not all wishy washy like most heroines. When the Silvers were assassinated at the party she was sad but was like I chose this path and I knew it was coming and didn’t act like a crybaby. I had a good first impression of Cal and just went down from there although he went up slightly at the end of the book. I feel he is too stiff and too put in his ways. Hopefully now that he has lost everything in Glass Sword it will change. I also liked that Cal was the one who was forced to kill the king and therefore threw all suspicion onto him and not onto the queen and Maven. Mavey and his mother (the queen) remind me a lot of Game of Thrones with Joffrey and Cersei. He gave me a bad first impression, he was like an insolent and spoiled little princeling but it got better over the course of the book…. THEN… THEN YOU’RE THE EVIL KING NOW SO I DON’T LIKE YOU ANYMORE! I totally fell for his trap! There’s one line where Mare points out he basically made himself into the person she wanted and it was like a slap in the face for me because I realized that was completely true and I should have seen it! I am so glad in the book that the "Big Red Reveal" (what I call revealing Mare is actually a Red and not a Silver) at the end of the book was revealed by Maven’s greed to see his older half brother and Mare punished and not by the Scarlet Guard. This was so much better! Mare took it into her own hands and made everyone see her for who she truly is and not what everyone else was wanting her and making her pretend to be. She took control of her own story and owned it! Although it irritated me a little that the title didn’t fit in with the book really. Maven would have made her into the Red Queen but she didn’t actually become one like the title would suggest. Loved the twist that Shade isn’t dead and he’s a teleporter currently found by the Scarlet Guard. My theory for why are Shade and Mare different? My theory is that somewhere along the line a Silver and Red mixed and they a half bloods or something. But their Silver abilities/genes are recessive which would be funny since in the book the Silver bloods are all about being dominant and on top in everything. Overall the most important line in this book if you read it is: anyone can betray anyone. This story has been done before and done better in other books in my opinion. Still, interesting characters and I will be reading the sequel The Glass Sword in the hopes it gets better. It looks like the Glass Sword is going to be all about Cal and Mare getting their revenge so I hope it is better. So in the end, 3/5 stars.

One of my favourite books. This book will take your love, mix up your feelings and then betray you, and you will love it.

Predictable but Fun. This is a good read - but I found it extremely predictable. Maybe if I read this when I was 12-15 I would have been shocked, but every twist and turn was something that you felt might happen from the beginning. All in all it was fun, and I enjoy the world the author built.

A real page turner.. After the first sample chapter I was hooked. As it says in the summary, it is a bit similar to "Hunger Games" at first, but with the twists and turns it definitely comes out on its own. I loved the character development and the author's descriptive settings! I'm counting down until the next book!

Hunger games, meets The Selection, meets Talented.. Fabulous! This book is a perfect amalgamation of the Selection and Talented, with a little bit of Hunger Games styled death matches thrown in. Beautifully written, and absolutely captivating. I couldn't put it down! Very highly anticipating it's sequel... Already.

Perfection. This book is absolutely fabulous. It's red rising and the selection bundled in one. The plot was great, the character development was even better, and my god the plot twists, I never saw them coming. The first instalment of this trilogy was a fantastic start, I can't wait to see what is in store for the next two instalments.

A Must Read!. This book is so captivating i can't put it down! I'm halfway through and it's only been a day that I have been reading it. I love the writing style. Sometimes I forget what time period this is in due to the mix of medieval and futuristic elements. A must read!
