Horrible!. When I go to Heaven and stand at the pearly gates I am going to wish I could get back the time it took to read this stupid story! The main male character is absolutely a waste of ink.... And the girl is written as a smart girl that gets "wet" for a dude that violates her every encounter! I honestly wanted the maid to kill them all so maybe the author could start over lol!

Don't buy this book!. It's absolutely disgusting! It condones human trafficking on young girls by stating that the characters in the book are "okay" with it. I stopped as soon as I read that part. I should have known purchasing a book from Harper Collins Publishers, the same company that produces the satanic bible, would be a HUGE mistake. I'm disgusted that this author would even think of writing such filth.

Couldn't put down... So upset that next book doesn't come out for months... Cannot wait to see what happens next... Suspense is going to kill me..

Cartel: Book 1. The empathy & compassion Dornan is showing Mariana confuses him as he has yet to lose all of his humanity, as he eventually did, as was made so brutally & graphically obvious in the Gypsy Bros Series. The Dornan of Cartel : Book 1 still has a spark of hope that Emelio hasn't snuffed, YET!

Very Dark!. I have not read the Gypsy series but it seems this series, while written after Gypsy, the events take place before that series. From someone who has not read the Gypsy series, I did not feel like I need to read it first. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting what I got in Cartel! This is not a fairy tale book where the bad boy rescues the girl and they live happily ever after. This is a dark read about what life would be like for a woman taken in the Cartel. The writing is amazing and the author did a great job but you do have to have the stomach for a darker read. This is not the type of book I normally gravitate towards but I can appreciate a well written story and that is what Cartel is. This is the first book in a 3 book series. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Amazing. This book tells the story of things that can actually happen to some poor innocent girls. I love the strong will Mariana, even though I already know what happens because I've read the entire Gypsy Brothers saga, I don't want what happens to happen. The true horror stories I've grown up hearing I'm actually reading a piece of that reality. Despite the brutality of human trafficking and becoming slaves it's not something to say it's terrible or disgusting. No. People open you're eyes. Stuff like this is happening all around the world and no one bats an eye of it because 'it's too graphic'.

Its a no go from me.. Many characters to keep track of, it's a little overwhelming at first. So we go from the kingpin drug lord to the VP biker club. Well this story is covering all elements. Also kidnapping, killing, drug trafficking, and sex slaves. I'm not understanding the appeal these men have for Mariana. They keep moving her from one person to the other and nothing is progressing. So far these tough and important men have yet to do anything remotely dangerous to her. These men are pathetic always having a hard on because a woman licks her lips or is defyingly them. The story in revolving around in circles. It's become stagnant and not moving forward as if they are stalling. Dornan's obsession with Mariana is a distraction to the original story line of Emilio. It's a long and arduous story. I'm not convinced by the use of words chosen for this story. It's not compelling. The characters have confused emotions. I feel the author was trashing women unnecessarily throughout this story yet trying to set Mariana apart from these other women because she was Columbian. Why is she so set on degrading women? Does Dornan think drugs make him feel powerful or using women? The author is over doing the tough guy act with Dornan. Not sure why she chose to tell Dornan's POV from the third person. It's weird considering Mariana's POV is her own thoughts. Dornan taints and teases Mariana trying to break her, but it's unclear why. Stockholm syndrome is the term constantly thrust in your face to describe the feelings of confusion Mariana has for Dornan. It did not work for me. I love taboo dark stories, but this one was a stretch.

Beyond Amazing!. I'm obsessed with Lili and I won't deny that her dark writing makes my mind churn and wonder and imagine what a world like what she writes about could possibly be like. Something so dark but so wickedly good is hard to grasp. But I love the struggle, trying to understand these characters and their lifestyles is a ride on the back of a victory across Route 66 all on its own. I can't wait for more of this series! Highest praise to Lili!

Amazing.... Lili St Germain has done it again. Her way of story telling continues to pull you in and captivate you. How she can make a character who you have grown to hate so much in her previous series, be so tortured and human is amazing. The story is great, love reading about how it all began.

Interesting.... Took some time to get used to the violence in the plot. I will read the next one though.

.... this book is definitely twisted. this is the first book I've read by lili st. Germaine and I'll admit that I was very wrapped up in the story. most of the book is complete filth and has some truly disgusting components but it was a page turner for sure. if you can get passed the violence and the horror of the basic story from start to finish I think you can really enjoy the book. I'll definitely be waiting on edge for the next book and can admit that lili st. Germaine is my newest guilty pleasure!

Wow.... I haven't read a story like this entire series in a long time. I'm truly left raw and although this review is categorized under book one, Ive just finished the conclusion and am left with an emotional hangover. This series will keep you on the edge of your seat, like no other. I have to admit from reading the other reviews, I usually avoid stories of rape, human trafficking and dead children because the world is already so difficult to endure, I kind of hate reading about torture for entertainment. But, there's a lot of strength in the heroine, Mariana, as well as heartache. It's kind of like a soul cleanse that you didn't know you needed. All the credit goes to the author here, she's one hell of an writer. I don't know how she came up with such a tantalizing story plot but the series was amazing! Utterly and truly, just wow...

Cartel- book 1 in Cartel Trilogy. Cartel/mafia/motorcycle gang world- definitely dark & violent, but not quite as much as some others I’ve read- but enough so that if u normally like this type of story with the romance & just glosses over the violent side then u won’t like this one. Lately I’ve been drawn to the dark & this book held my interest & I have to find out what happens next so on to purchasing book 2…

DNF. Tried very hard to get through this book as a lot of people have loved it, I guess it’s just not for me.... I pushed through to half way and I didn’t find anything about this book romantic.

Guilty pleasure. Entertaining and the prose is better than most fictional works that are using the same formula. I'd recommend the ebook over the print as it is easily read in a few hours. I ended up downloading and reading the 7-book series as well (I'm a procrastinator!) and did find they were very short for individual books. In saying that, people do need to make money for their work and it is good promotion for this new series.

I believe I've become addicted. Lili your books have awoken something inside me I've explored emotions I never knew I had by reading your series! I get so excited waking up each morning knowing I've yet another chapter to read and another book to finish, yesterday I spent 5 hours reading 2 books and continued the next 3 hours in the early morning onto the next! I've recommended your books to all my friends. I've made constant Facebook statuses about all the gossip and updates. There's not a single author I admire more quite like you. Cartel: Book 1. Very dark and disturbing story. Well written but I shudder to think what the author has gone through to either research the information for this story or what the author has lived through. This novel should be in the scary romance category. I keep hoping that there will be a happy ending, but I am not sure it could ever be.

Love this Author. Two gigantic thumbs up for this book and the series! I have read almost everything that this author has written. Love her writing style and her unique story lines. I just finished the first book in her latest series, “ Verona Blood” , and can’t wait for the next book.
