The Murder Pit by Jeff Shelby Book Summary

Their old house was a money pit...but a murder pit?

Daisy Savage finally has everything she wants. A new husband. A bunch of kids. A charming old house.

What she doesn't want is a dead body.

But that's exactly what she finds in her basement, in a crawl space she didn't know existed.

To make matters worse, the victim is someone Daisy knows. Someone Daisy had a history with.

When the local police chief announces she's the prime suspect, and when the local townspeople all start treating her like a criminal, Daisy knows she needs to prove her innocence.

There's just one problem.

Clearing her name may be far more dangerous than she realized.

The Murder Pit. Really enjoyed this book! Nothing heavy and very entertaining.

Love it!!. I loved this book!!! I could not put it down. I finished this book in like 4 days!! I read it every chance I got!!

Different and Entertaining. Wasn’t a page turner for me but it was entertaining and had likeable characters. A good read.

The Murder Pit. Good read. Definitely entertaining.

Funny mystery read. Enjoyed the humor and mystery intertwined in this novel. Love the Daisy & Jake characters as well. Kept me excited to read what was next.

A quick, fun read. It was great for my preference: some suspense, but not scary. Good plot and fun enough to hold my interest for an afternoon. The author did get hung up in a lot of immaterial details, and lacked detail when it was actually warranted. A large handful of obvious typos wore on my patience a bit. And, it was painfully obvious it was written by a man attempting to illustrate from a female perspective. It could easily be a five star book with skilled editing.

The murder pit. Easy read with a great story line. Keep me guessing until the end. This was the first book I have read of Jeff Shelby can’t wait to read more of his books.

The Murder Piit. Great beginning, better middle, unexpected ending. Looking forward to the next episode in the life of Jake and Daisy!!!

The Murder Pit. This was an entertaining book and I enjoyed reading it but I can not understand why the author put down the church and let it be known that homosexual relations were fine for teens. The values on home schooling were good, but most moms who homeschool would be irritated by these references, so why mess up a good. Ok by putting them in?

Murder Pit. Honestly, didn't pick up who the killer was till it was thrown out there. Love it.

Good read. It was odd to never know the cause of death. That information could have kept me interested in the “suspects” involved. Nevertheless, it was a good read. Thank you.

Great book. Great book if you are a socio path

The Murder Pit. This is the first Jeff Shelby book I've read; I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, the plot and the mythical community. I look forward to reading his other books.

ebsc. to much lead in couldn't get past chapter 10, bored to death, good thing book was free.

Loved it. Can't wait for the next episode!

Snoozing cheetos!. Great book for soccer moms! Not for me...

A cute and funny mystery story. A cute and funny mystery story. Daisy is crazy (lol), just kidding. She's funny, quirky, and a bit of a nosy control freak. Jake is really loving and tolerant and an overall great guy. Not sure why his first wife let him get away. The kids are really well behaved and smart especially since I never 'seen' her actually teach them anything. Enjoyed the secondary characters and learning some of their quirks.

Cute and cleverly written. Enjoyable Characters. Endearing stream-of-thought interactions.

Loved it. Exce;lent review 594

Great book.. The author really had me fooled! I love when mystery does that to me. Highly recommended book if you prefer humor and suspense. Geared towards age group of 16 to 24 if you ask me.

The Murder Pit. Fun read! Fast paced and interesting.

Awesome. This book had me from the beginning, read it in one night. Love books that get ur attention and keep it.

The Murder Pit. I found a new author I like! Well fleshed out characters that I can care about and an unpredictable plot line. What's not to like! Looking forward to reading the next installment!

The Murder Pit. Such a great book.... lots of suspects, with lots of motives. You learn to love the main characters, with their witty remarks and obvious love for their large family. Can’t wait to read the next one of the series!

THE MURDER PIT. A light, fun read.

The murder pit. Very entertaining

This Old House. Comfortable, homey, nice read. A woman obsessed with restoring a fixer upper talks about being a mother, wife, neighbor and makes the reader downright wishing she could know this family in real life. Since I've been working on my 150 yr. old house (fixer upper) for all of my adult life, I chuckle and reminisce.

Entertaining read!. Lighthearted and fun, easy read. The characters are interesting and so typical of a small town. I found myself totally recalling folks from days gone by in several towns of my past. Funny, lighthearted and comical. Enjoyable and I'm defending nicely going to get the next book in the series!

Murder Pit. Reading Murder Pit is like a smooth airplane ride without bumps ; suspense is the bounce on landing. Easy to read and follow, simple plot, no fancy language, though suggestive sex scenes would make it inappropriate for young readers.

So so. I didn't really enjoy this book. she really wasn't a detective/investigator in my opinion. The storyline was relentlessly slow and a bit boring. The kids never did schoolwork for being home schooled. There were just to many lapses & things that didn't make sense. I'm definitely not a fan and strongly recommend you try a different book with more substance.

The Murder Pit. Fun, light and an easy read. Kept going until done. Loved the characters.

The Murder Pit. I'm hooked! Daisy Savage reminds me that my life isn't that bad after all. Couldn't stop reading anticipating the next chapter filled with adventure. Kudos!

😑. Dragged on FOREVERRRR.

Unexpected read. I don't find books I like to read very easily, and I'm not a fan of lengthy books either. I managed to finish this murder mystery book in one day. It's a decent read and if you read murder mystery books often, you may be able to figure it out quickly. Some of the details were random and I felt they were unnecessary, but if you're trying to find a quick read to fill in some empty time, this book may be for you.

The Murder Pit. This is the first book I have read by Jeff Shelby. I liked the story setting in a small town; the principals as dealing with all the issues of a newly-formed mixed family; and the townsfolk ever- spreading opinions through its grapevine! The murder plot was nicely intricate, leaving a lot of details to be exposed in the course of reading. Yet, there was also the needed levity to keep the many personal interactions from being too antagonistic Missing - A natural detail that was not necessary to reveal at first, but ought to have been stated sometime = the authorities never shared what was the cause of death. Included - A good manner of expressing husband/wife interactions on many levels - a talent lacking in some male writers. I am looking forward to reading more books from the author. Paul T.

More story, less detail. Can't believe a teacher is saying less detail; but there really is too much description of food, laundry, Barbies, and day-to-day life in this cute story. More meaty details of the crime and investigation would create a satisfying read for the amateur PI buff. I liked being able to guess who did it before you could be sure. But in the end I'd rather have rich characters and more suspense.

Light Family Drama. Life with a blended family in a small town gets complicated by the discovery of a body in their house. Light reading, for sure.

This is a good one!. I did enjoy reading this mystery. It was just right for my reading taste buds! I enjoyed the characters, including a home schooled family, a feisty mom and a dad who hates clowns. This story was interesting and a good book, full of the mystery without being too scary!

Murder Pit. I enjoyed the story. However; i think that whoever is employed to edit this and other ebooks should be seriously reprimanded. There were at least ten different annoying places in this book that really needed correction and were very distracting. After i noticed the first two mistakes; if it weren't for lack of a good read i would have simply deleted this book. It didn't hold my curiosity enough.

The Murder Pit. This book wasn’t worth the price and his other books are too expensive and rather boring to read.

The Murder Pit. So much fun. I couldn’t put it down. The characters are a nice blend and the story line was intriguing. I love the little side stories and getting to know the family. Good read.

Murder Pit. This was a freebie that proved fast moving, diverse and fun. Looking for the next shot
