It’s ok. The first book is so interesting and I loved the main love interest. But, I did find it very predictable. I guessed every plot twist from the beginning and because of it, I didn’t really lose myself in the book. Loved the characters and their development tho

Couldn't wait to read!. I couldn't wait to read this book and was not disappointed! Would steal a few minutes to read it every chance I could get including long hours in the night. Though it is a lot more brutal than most young adult novels, it is still worth the read. I'm satisfied with the ending, but absolutely can't wait for the sequel!!

😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😍😍😍😍😍😍love love love it!!!!. I'm gonna start with this book is awesome I've read the second one as well and all I can say is Miss Author you go girl!!!!! The main characters Elias and Laia are soooo real!!!! Elias is a guy that hates the life he's living and just wants to be set free. He wants his old life back where he felt he had purpose he was himself and not some killing machine for the Empire...he's as good as it can get... I mean he's such a real down to earth guy and is there anything he can't do...lol...so his main purpose is to desert...Laia her brothers been kidnapped and she feels she let him down for not staying to fight for him...she would've got caught with him as well but anyways... So she's doing any and everything to get her brother back even if it scares her down to her bones...girl is tougher then she gives herself credit for and that's why I like her...she's not screaming from the roof times I'm all this and that and I'm gonna get my brother back myself she's like Oh God I'm scared but I'm gonna push through for my big bro...btw I think it's so cute how much she'll do if her bro...but guys she goes through hell...this series is very intense... it's not for the faint of heart soooo...if you'll pass out from seeing your main characters u love go through so much hurt and pain don't read if u can't take it!!!! But for Elias and Laia they both had to go through what they each did to become the people they are and where they're at in life right now!!!! Bravo Miss Author👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 it has suspense comedy romance such good plot twist and dark secrets that leave u satisfied!!! This series is one of my favs with the Selection series by Kiera Cass and the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard...

Amazing, wish I could read the 2nd book soon. It was page turning and I stayed up all night just to read it. The author is amazing and I fell in love with the characters. I can't wait for the sequel. If I could jump into the book I would, when I was reading it I felt like I was in it just as much as the characters were.

10/10 would recommend. Great dystopian society story. Can't wait for the sequel!

READ IT!!!!. Unless you're like really young, I urge you to read this book no matter the genre you usually gravitate towards. I have read more books that I can count in my life and this makes my top 5 EASY. Every aspect is done perfectly and nothing was ever boring. You'll fall in love with the two main protagonists (a male and a female) immediately and will be emotionally affected whenever anything major happens to them. Please, do yourself a favor and pick this book up!

Love!!!. I am now reading this book for the third time to refresh my memory before I read the second. The author does an incredible job of building the setting. All of the main characters are interesting. I have read the majority of novels similar to this one, and so far this is my favorite. I look forward to more!

Wow. I have very little an attention span. A court of thorns and roses? Didn’t stay interested to read more after the first book. The cruel prince series? Couldn’t even finish the first book. Throne of glass? Not bad but not good enough to make me want to continue the series after the first book. A crescent city? Couldn’t even get through the iBooks sample it was so bad. From blood and ash series? FIVE STARS and I have been dying to find another book as good. Dare I say, this book kept me even more captivated. From blood and ash is still a fav but I just have to reiterate that this book is just wow. Couldn’t put it down. IT IS A MUST READ!!!!

A continuous roller coaster!. It took me weeks to get through the first 100 pages then I finally got hooked and finished the rest of the book in less than 2 days. When the excitement begins it never ends! If you found it slow in the beginning I’d suggest trying to stick with it. This book is full of surprises, and I really can’t wait to see how the story unfolds in the next one!

I could not put it down!. I love this. As a woman of color I’ve always wanted to read a book feeling like the characters and heroes looked like me!! I love this SO much! Incredible writing I was on the edge of my seat not able to put the books down.

Page turner. This book deserves more stars, even though the story line is kinda the same as many this book goes very smoothly and entertaining

Not as good as All My Rage. Helene was the best character; she deserved better. Laia not so much.

Evocative and jarring. An amazing book, one that I frequently had to force myself to put down lest I be late for work or sleep. The characters are compelling, the world is incredibly imaginative and thorough, and the action is vice-gripping. Definitely would recommend. The only things keeping it from five stars are the intense violence and sexual tension. I’m normally fine with violence but in one of the very early chapters, one of the main characters watches from a cheering crowd as a ten-year-old gets whipped to death. While it quite successfully sets the tone of the empire, it wasn’t something I expected nor enjoyed reading. And that kind of violence continues throughout the book. If that’s your thing then dive right in, otherwise be warned. And the sexual tension, of course I love some of it, but at times I felt like the main characters were developing sexual tension between themselves and every other character of the opposite sex. It was a bit much, especially when it occurred *during action scenes*. I’m all for characters getting together, but as the wise Professor Oak once said, “there’s a time and a place for that.” All in all a fantastic book, just a few stylistic things that weren’t really my thing. Definitely give it a go and see what you think!

MY FAVORITE. This is honestly one of my favorite series ever. This book is so well written and so intricate. Although it’s pretty long, I’m going to re-read it because I can’t stop thinking about how good it is. I love Laia, Helene and Elias and their character developments. I CANNOT wait until the fourth book. It’s so bittersweet!
