The Chocolate Garden (Ava Miles) Book Reviews

A Must Read!!This book had me at the title and did not disappoint! Tammy has been divorced for a year and she and her 2 children have been living with her country music star brother Rye while she gets her life back together. She is finally getting to be the person who she is meant to be, and is starting her own landscaping business. Her first project is her brother’s property, finished in time for his wedding. After the wedding, Rye’s best friend, John Parker, asks Tammy to come and look at his property. It’s his way of finally getting to know her better, on her terms. After discovering his favorite thing is chocolate, she decides to create a chocolate garden for him. When a burglar terrorizes Tammy and her children, and they are afraid to sleep, John Parker creates a story of magic and fairies that live in the Chocolate Garden and who watch over the children, for Tammy’s children. The children pitch in to plant and create this garden, which indeed held magical, healing properties. This is a wonderful story of great love, healing, finding who you are supposed to be and knowing that with love, you can be that person. I laughed and cried and absolutely loved this story. Could not put it down, it’s a must read! I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. The Chocolate GardenThis is the second book in the Dare River Series, a contemporary romance with great old Southern Charm. I was happily swept up in it. Tammy Rollins is Rye Crenshaw's sister. We met them both in the first Dare River novel Country Heaven, along with Rye's now fiancé,Tory. Tammy and her two children Rory and Annabelle live with Rye and Tory, and they have asked her to create the floral arrangements for their wedding. She loves gardening, planning and planting so she jumped at the chance. She hopes to start her own landscaping business called Visionary Gardening. Tammy has lived through a very nasty divorce from her abusive husband with a final pay off of a million dollars by Rye to get rid of him once and for all. He happily took it, but the tabloids broadcast what was supposed to be a buried secret. Now Tammy has to listen to gossip about herself and her children. The one person always there for her besides her brother is John Parker McGuiness. He is her brother's best friend and her knight in shining armor. They have been attracted to each other for a while, but they have an unspoken understanding that moving forward slowly is the best idea if they want a relationship. John Parker ( J.P.) is a fine southern gentleman, an attorney and has named himself Tammy's protector. He loves her children and enjoys every minute he can spend with them. He is tirelessly searching for the person that leaked Tammy's divorce information. He wants he/she punished. John Parker has asked Tammy to do her magic on his property also. She is thrilled at the chance to create something special and spend time with him one on one. When she realizes he is a proud chocoholic, Tammy envisions the perfect gift, a Chocolate Garden. Ms. Miles describes the plants, the colors and the scents so beautifully, it makes you feel like you are there. But, life's not all flowers and chocolate. There is an intruder, Tammy's mother is being more difficult than ever, family members are not being truthful and Tammy's new found independence makes her question a life with John Parker. This novel is a delightful mix of the old and new south and an absolute pleasure to read. I highly recommend it and the first novel in the series, Country Heaven. Looking forward to the next in the Dare River series. I received this eBook from the publisher for an honest review. Pat Fordyce.Score: 5/5

Wonderful! I loved it!This is a wonderful book. It was well-written and I immediately fell in love with the characters. John Parker was such a wonderful patient man and you just hoped that Tammy would realize how good he is for her. Tammy is newly divorced after being in an abusive marriage and John Parker doesn't want to push her too hard but knows that they are meant to be together. There is so much going on in Tammy's life and she just wants to know that she can take care of herself and her children without relying on a man. Can they find a balance to make a future work? Tammy decides to open a gardening/landscaping business to support her and her two adorable children and is hired by John Parker to create a garden at his house. John Parker's favorite food group is Chocolate, which I could totally relate to, so Tammy decides that she has to plant him a chocolate garden. I want one too. It turns out to be a magical and healing garden. They experience their ups and downs but you can't help but cheer for them and hope that they find the future they both deserve. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a feel-good romantic story. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait for my next visit to Dare River!.Score: 5/5

The Chocolate GardenI have read all of the Dare Valley Series and now the second book of the Dare River Series. I love these novels because of the relatable characters and intense love they all have for each other. The journey Tammy finds herself on in this novel is one my sister and I have both shared, and I rooted for Tammy to find victory as much I did for myself and my sister. In her own liberation, I relived my own. Tammy finding love again gives me hope that I will one day also. I hope to read many more Dare River novels. The characters were real and the story line well done. I absolutely loved the premise of the chocolate garden and as a mother, was touched by how they used it to help the children past their fears. Another winner at Dare RiverAfter reading Tory and Ryes story I was so excited to start this one, admittedly because I wanted to see more from the adorable kids! Tammy and JP have a much different love story than Tory and Rye and I think I'm so used to authors just recycling stories with new names now days that it took me by surprise. There were times I laughed, times I cried and times I wanted to hit them both. That's the sign of a great book. It makes you think because you start to compare yourself to the characters. The author did a great job of telling both of the main characters points of view on marriage, not making one seem better or worse, but instead finding the middle ground. As a southern girl raised by parents who love each other very much and a dad that still wants to protect us from everything, it was nice to see the author find a way for the characters to really grow into the relationship together. Another great job at Dare River..Score: 5/5

Pure Decadence!Recently divorced, Tammy moved herself and her two children to Dare so she could be with her brother and sister, and start her new life. Passionate about plants and flowers, she decided to open her own gardening business. Her brother's garden was her first venture, which led to his best friend, John Parker, to ask her to design a garden for him. Using his love of chocolate, she designed a magical sanctuary for him...and her two children. John Parker has been interested in Tammy since he first met her, and working on the garden brought them closer. When terror finds its way into Tammy and the children's lives, John Parker is there to offer a safe haven filled with love (and chocolate!). While reading this book, I could barely put it down! The pure love John Parker has shines through on every page. I'll confess that I went through most of a box of tissue while reading this as the book is filled with such tender moments...and such desperate times. Rarely have I cried through so much of a book! The more I read of Ms. Miles books, the more I fall in love with them! She has outdone herself with this book and I cannot WAIT for more!!!!
