Justice Calling by Annie Bellet Book Summary

Gamer. Nerd. Sorceress.

Jade Crow lives a quiet life running her comic book and game store in Wylde, Idaho. After twenty-five years fleeing from a powerful sorcerer who wants to eat her heart and take her powers, quiet suits her just fine. Surrounded by friends who are even less human than she is, Jade figures she’s finally safe.

As long as she doesn’t use her magic.

When dark powers threaten her friends’ lives, a sexy shape-shifter enforcer shows up. He’s the shifter world’s judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one, and he thinks Jade is to blame. To clear her name, save her friends, and stop the villain, she’ll have to use her wits… and her sorceress powers.

Except Jade knows that as soon as she does, a far deadlier nemesis awaits.
Justice Calling is the first book in The Twenty-Sided Sorceress urban fantasy series.

Justice Calling. New author for me. Shifters, magic, kept me interested and I will definitely be reading more of this series!

What?!. You mean to say she's not a lesbian? Or at the very least bi? Why does it always have to be a straight girl!?

Great read. Really well done short story. Being a gamer myself I felt a kinship in this book. Look forward to reading the rest of this series

Not. Bad

Awesome!. Short read, and super fun! I speak just like the main character, so it was fun to read. Engaging story and funny! Plus all the nerdy D&D references were a pleasant surprise, as I just got into that world. Give this book a go!

Great read!. Fun short read! As a lover of SF and also a gamer, this book was entertaining. Looking forward to reading more of this series.

Rushed. This book felt rushed like it was cliff notes to a novel. If the characters and plot had been more developed it would have been better. All of the history in what happened before this book seemed like it was a recap from a previous book.

Justice Calling. Loved it. The story was captivating. Could have had less "melting loins" but I really liked the story.

Cee A Bee. As an introductory short novel, this did hold my interest. I hope, in future efforts, that the author develops the characters more and gives us more of the story at a time.

Justice calling. Didn’t read very much. Too many F-bombs and cussing which distracted from the dialogue and story line. G

Is "Irish" a language?. Isn't Gaelic the language of the Irish? Anyway. The story was pretty interesting and the writing style is amusing and easy to read. The romance felt rushed and just came out of left field for me though. I feel like there should have been more build up there. The way it happened just kind of had me rolling me eyes.

Could have been better.... I can usually let a few editing mistakes slide, but it really ruined the flow of the story here. That being said, the idea behind the book was...ok. It could have used some major revision and editing on the author’s part. It felt like I was reading the second book of a series rather than the first. The characters weren’t fully developed and the romance was rushed and corny. The random mythical wolf being-thing that was introduced was just odd, and it was made worse by the half-arsed explanation the author wrote. The story had potential, but I was let down immensely.

Getting into the heart of Sorcery. Excellent dive into the sorcery world, starting with Jade Crow, who has been in hiding for 25 years from her murdeous ex-lover Samir. Jade's friends, mostly were-shifting gamers have started turning up frozen into their were state and their energy being drained by a human magic user. Jade, with help of a Justice, sorts through the magiked weres, but exposes herself magically to the ex-boyfreind.
