Prodigal Son by Danielle Steel Book Summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Twin boys grow up in the same family, in the same town. Dramatically different, they become bitter enemies, even as children. One good, one bad. One leaves his peaceful hometown, but when all else fails, the prodigal son returns, twenty years later. The reunion of brothers, sweet and healing at first, exposes shattering revelations of good and evil. #1 New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel tells a brilliant, suspenseful story of suspicion, betrayal, and a life-and-death struggle for survival. Which twin is good and which is evil, as the tables turn again and again?

PRODIGAL SON

In a matter of days, Peter McDowell loses everything he has worked so hard for—his wealth, his property, his livelihood as a star investment banker. And then it gets worse. The stock market crash not only plunges Peter into joblessness, it causes a rift in his marriage that he cannot repair. Stripped of everything, he has only one place to retreat: a lakeside cottage he inherited from his parents, who left most of their modest estate to Peter’s twin. With no other choice, the prodigal son goes home.

A beloved small-town doctor, a devoted family man, and a pillar of his community, Michael McDowell serves others without regard to personal gain. Only Peter knows how Michael manipulated their parents when the boys were young, ultimately driving Peter away. At first, he dreads seeing Michael again. But, to his surprise, their reunion is tender and real. Only later, as Peter mulls over his late mother’s journals, does the truth begin to emerge, as realization and panic begin to set in. Who is his twin? Is the façade real, or does something terrifying lie beneath? Imagination or a reality too terrifying to believe?

In a race for time, Peter throws caution to the winds to find the truth. What he discovers will change their lives forever, the lives of their children, and an entire town.

Powerful, poignant, and filled with complex and layered characters, Prodigal Son is a riveting novel of secrets, salvation, and redemption from master storyteller Danielle Steel.

Prodigal Son. I'm a big fan of Steele, have read all her books. This was not her best book. Seems like she got tired of writing in the middle of the book and gave up.

Prodigal Son. He was a real sociopath!!!!

I think it's her best ever!. I have read all of Danielle Steels books. I believe this is her very best one. It's not her usual but it's like all the rest as far as keeping your interest. It didn't start off with a sad situation but it did come towards the middle. It pulled you in and the pages flew by at a powerful rate. I could honestly read this again! Please enjoy!

Prodigal son. Excellent book. It is good from page 1 to the very end.

WOW. A must read! WOW

Surprise twist. Always love Daniel Steel style of writing and her books are just enough detailed information to keep me not wanting to put the book down and this book is no exception

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Book!. Nothing redeeming about this book. It is horrendous. A waste of time and money. Disappointment overload!

Interesting story. The storyline was different in someways than her typical....it centered on male characters. I've read every Danielle Steele non-fiction book and they are always engaging, including this one. But I have to say that she does seem to repeat herself a lot. It's noticeable and I often just skimmed the apes looking for where something different was written. I don't recall that in older books. It's fine to be shorter and less repetitive. Still, I got into the characters and enjoyed the story.

Meh. It was an easy quick read. Overall it was ok.

Prodigal Son. Truly enjoyed it! Don't get the bad reviews...less predictable than many of Steele's more recent books. Was also nice reading a book more focused on a male character.

So boring. What a shame. The storyline is an interesting one, but Danielle Steel seems to have not put any thought into deepening the story. There were just a few plot lines, but they were repeated over and over and over and over again. So boring! I ended up skipping large portions go the book just to find details that weren't already discussed ten times before. The plot of the book is figured out early in the book, leaving little to look forward to.

The Prodigal Son. I couldn't put it down. I find it refreshing to have a book that I can share with my young daughters without fearing that the content is just too adult. Ms. Steele hit this one out of the park.

Loved It!. This book kept my on the edge of my seat more and more as it went on. I love all of Danielle Steel's books. Can't get enough! I reccommend this book, you won't be disappointed.

Prodigal Son. Twists and turns, hard to put down. Very good reading!

Time for Steele to lay down her pen. This was one of the most predictable, poorly written novels that Danielle Steele has ever written. She has lost her touch and her ability to weave a story that recognizes the intelligence of the reader. Ms. Steele has become, p,a in and simple....boring.

Word count wonder. This book is a waste of money. I typically can count on Steel for a solid read or listen. This book was written for a word count and not a fluid story. It is redundant to the point I was yelling that, "I know! You have said it 10 times already." If an unknown author had turned this in it would have been trashed after 10 pages. If you do not believe please do the preview before spending the money.

Prodigal son. Love it...... Yes love always win over evil, sadly to say there are some bad people in this world. Danielle steel you did it again.

Shocker!. Never imagined it was going to turn out the way it did. Didn’t see it coming. What a great read.

Prodigal Son. Story was good but it could have been written in 1/4 the number of pages. Very, very repetitive. Writing elementary compared to books she wrote years ago and I have read many. Don't think I will read anymore unless I find a cheap one for a quick beach read.
