Nimona Book Reviews
Nimona by ND Stevenson Book Summary
Now a Netflix animated film!
Nimona is the New York Times bestselling graphic novel sensation from ND Stevenson, based on his beloved and critically acclaimed web comic. Kirkus says, “If you’re going to read one graphic novel this year, make it this one.”
Nemeses! Dragons! Science! Symbolism! All these and more await in this brilliantly subversive, sharply irreverent epic from ND Stevenson. Featuring an exclusive epilogue not seen in the web comic, along with bonus conceptual sketches and revised pages throughout, this gorgeous full-color graphic novel has been hailed by critics and fans alike as the arrival of a “superstar” talent (NPR.org).
Nimona is an impulsive young shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. Lord Ballister Blackheart is a villain with a vendetta. As sidekick and supervillain, Nimona and Lord Blackheart are about to wreak some serious havoc. Their mission: prove to the kingdom that Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin and his buddies at the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics aren't the heroes everyone thinks they are.
But as small acts of mischief escalate into a vicious battle, Lord Blackheart realizes that Nimona's powers are as murky and mysterious as her past. And her unpredictable wild side might be more dangerous than he is willing to admit.

Read it!. One of the best graphic novels I’ve ever read. Sure it was meant for a younger group, but regardless, this is great storytelling with all the right ingredients.
Dude. just read it. you won’t be sorry.
Good Book. This book was nice!
Definitely read this!. I read this in one day because I loved it sooooooo much! I hope those of you who have read the book loved it as much as me, and those who didn't read it yet buy it and love it!
This book..... I liked the cover of the book, so me being me I picked it to read, and the moment I turned the first page I was in love with it, I had to buy it and I did. This book is amazing, everything about it, yes I know that if a kid picks this up maybe he or she would be scared but I’m a kid and I loved this book, I would recommend ages 7 or higher. And I totally recomend it if you like good books with a strong message. I can’t even play explain how much I love it, Everyone should read this 🔆🌈🧡
Very disappointed. This book sounded light-hearted and fun, so I was excited to jump into it. However, all of the pages were blank. I'm very disappointed with my purchase.
This book is so fun!. I swear, nimona is the funniest! I love how original the art is and how many twists and turns there are! P.S ( I love looking at concept art so I was so grateful that I could look at the development :) )
Nimona is everything. This book is the main thing that got me into graphic novels. I mean sure, I'd read them before, and I thought that they were okay, but this is what gave me the extra shove that got me rolling.
Sharp and true, like a knife of broken glass. I have to confess that I don't tend to read graphic novels of collected graphic series unless they've been strongly recommended. There just always seems to be too low a content-to page ratio. Intellectually, I appreciate that some sorts of stories can be told in graphic format, and that there's an artistry to the combination of text and image that's simply a Different Thing than purely textual fiction. Maybe it's part of how I'm not so much of a visual person. But when enough of my friends talk about a particular graphic work in ways that suggest it will push my buttons, I'm quite happy to give it a go. I think the entirety of my emotional reaction to Nimona can be summed up in a tweet I sent responding to someone who asked if I liked it: Sharp and true, like a knife of broken glass--and iridescent, as if the glass were buried a thousand years. This is a story of love and loyalty and being true to who you really are despite what the world thinks of you. It's the story of a young girl who is a monster, and monsters who walk in human form. It's a story of betrayal and redemption. Um…I really liked it. Nimona is a shapechanger who wants to be the sidekick of the Official Villain who fights against the noble champion of the realm. But while Nimona's talents (and complete lack of morals) would be useful, Lord Blackheart has a lot of awkward scruples in his sinister plots against the kingdom and their champion Sir Goldenloin. There's a bit of a…um, I'm not sure what to call it…medieval mad scientist flavor to the setting. Lord Blackheart was once in competition with his best friend (and maybe more?) Sir Goldenloin to be the kingdom's champion but a tournament accident that may have been no accident set him instead on the path to being its nemesis. Nimona herself has a painful backstory that is only glimpsed in brief flashes, and her motives in offering her services to evil (as she thinks it) are hard to untangle. But what shines forth is the friendship that develops between the two, and the love and loyalty that outlasts all the adventures, conflicts, and challenges. This is not a story with simple and easy answers, for all that it's present in the form of a comic strip. Nimona Rocks! But.... I love this kid! Who would’nt? She’s the girl i wannna be! But.. I feel like there’s to much gruesome stuff for kids. Look, I admit, I love a good marvel movie or an action packed comic book! But what if a 7 year old loves comic books but can’t watch pg 13 movies. If that girl reads this, she might get scared! But, I’m definitely not giving this book a bad rating (even if it looks like i do.) Nimona is the cutest, awesomest, kicking butt girl I have ever seen.
