Nikki Fallon
After the death of my mother, moving from my dark and dreary trailer park to sunny California, I was focused on one thing – finding a sister I’d only just learned existed. Until the day I finally found out who my sister was…and how twisted fate could be.

Best one yet. I’ve read many of Vi’s books, but this is my favorite. It was so sweet. I loved all the characters. Keep writing more like this one.

Predictable but still good. This is actually 3.5 stars for me, but I generally like Vi Keeland’s books, so I’ll round up. Figured out the “shocking” ending by page 30 or 40. I actually thought perhaps the authors were going to do something interesting when they introduced the rivalry between Zack’s girl friend and his female friend prior to the meet-cute. Alas, no. Even though it was predictable, it still kept my attention and was fairly well done for a story about 17 year olds.

Unexpected and awesome. Unexpected and awesome rarely come in the same sentence, but then they fit here. Having had a death young in my life I get loss. People have a hard time with it and think saying, “I’m sorry for your loss,” even though they mean we’ll just don’t get it. That’s why a cringe every time I hear it said. This story ‘gets it’. This story speaks to loss and those left behind so well that anyone needing a window into that world, understanding of mental illness, one into children of poverty, or lost children in the system need to read this. I’ve not lost a friend at a young age but this story helped me have a small window to it. To help me understand how it can be devastating to a young mind. Even though they don’t go there, I can see how they could consider going down the wrong path after that without a strong family member, friend, or just someone who truly cares to pull them out of a spiral. Thank you both for making me wish you had more for them to read about on their life journey. Wish I could have more.

A wonderfully told coming of age YA Romance!. In Left Behind, Vi Keeland and Dylan Scott team up to bring you a young adult romance that revolves around a story of tragic loss and restoring hope. Fate. Nikki spent her life moving around central Texas and taking care of her mother. But when her mother passes, Nikki is not quite yet 18 and is either going to be moved to a foster home or move to California to live with an Aunt she never knew existed. Zack saw her when he was just nine years old. The girl on the yellow bike, the one he knew he’d love. Eight years later, Emily is still standing next to him. Although she isn’t always the same girl he remembered as a child. One night changes everything, Zack never imagined that life could be so cruel. Nearly six months have passed when Zack sees her, the girl from the track. The one that makes him feel something again. The one that seems to understand the loss that he feels. Learning to let go of the guilt of feeling something for this girl, Zack begins to fall, more deeply than he knew was possible. But a new start isn’t the only thing that led Nikki to California. She has a sister, a twin. A piece of her she never knew existed. She knows the answers can be found in California, but nothing could have prepared her the truth that she was going to discover. Although this venture into the genre of Young Adult was a little different than what I’ve come to love from this author, the collaboration with Dylan Scott on this book was very much enjoyed. Even though the twist wasn’t buried too deep in the story, I found that I was still excited to see how it would play out. Both Nikki and Zack were very likable characters and were easily to get lost in. I did feel like I was lacking a bit of an emotional connection at times. There was potential for this to have a very emotional moment, but I think that figuring out the story line early on, turned that moment down a few notches. I was prepared for it, so when it happened I sort of glazed over the emotional impact of it. The story is told in dual POV’s that start off with giving you a glimpse into both their lives before the move to California and their meeting. I enjoyed being able to be a voyeur into both their lives as this story unfolded. I absolutely loved the little notes, I am sucker for these sweet little gestures in books. Something so simple outshines the grandest of gestures and this just made loving Zack a little easier. A wonderfully told coming of age Young Adult romance that shines a little bit of light in the darkness of loss and shows you that not all hope is lost when you lose someone you love. That sometimes things happen a certain way, in the most crushing ways, to bring you something so beautiful that the all the pain is worth it, because without it you wouldn’t have experienced the love. This change in scenery for VK was refreshing and although I love her more adult titles, I would definitely not hesitate to pick up another YA title if she ever decides to write another. After all, Keller and Ash might just have a story that is yet to be discovered. Left behind was a very sweet romance that left me with a wide smile on my face and my heart feeling a little lighter. A love story of two kids where the usual angst and drama fueled story lines didn’t exist because their own experiences were enough to drive the story forward.

Very predictable. Knew how the story would go within the first 2 chapters. Kinda slow, but rushed at the same time in some places. Finished it but not something I would recommend to anyone.

Adolescent Love. Cute wholesome story, but SUPER predictable. Still a good read though. Very apropos for young adults. Nothing racey about this one. Just young high school love.

These authors writing together is magic and I really hope we get more from this team in the future!. I am a huge fan of Vi Keeland, so when the opportunity to read her new venture with Dylan Scott came up and I grabbed it. Left Behind is a different type of story than I am used to and I knew going in that I was dealing with Young Adult themes (which is a genre I tend to avoid) but something about the first chapter sneak preview pulled me in and I had to now more! I am very glad I took a chance on Left Behind! Vi Keeland and Dylan Scott created a book that was full of emotion (not angst) and amazing characters that I could not put down. I read this whole book on my flights a few weekends ago and didn't mind being in the last row (more reading time)! Left Behind was that was told in different point of views which allowed the reader to get the story in layers, revealing just enough in each POV that left you craving more. The brilliance that is Vi Keeland and Dylan Scott's writing shines in Left Behind. This is not an easy or simple story, Left Behind is complex tale with lives intertwining and heart-tugging story lines that is different than any other story I have ever read. While I did see the outcome earlier on in the story, the journey getting there was still amazing to read. These authors writing together is magic and I really hope we get more from this team in the future! Left Behind is a book that needs to go into unspoiled, I am not going to regurgitate the plot for you or describe these characters in depth. Just trust me and read this story, even if you are like me and not into YA, I promise it is worth it! Reading about Zach and Nikki was an amazing journey. I am still thinking about parts of this book and feel that emotional connection with the characters almost two weeks later. I can't shake off the curiosity of wondering how they are doing now (that may be the mom in me). At seventeen these two characters faced a lot, but it was how it all played out in a very emotional, sweet and satisfying way that was the magic of this story. Dylan Scott and Vi Keeland just changed my opinion on the young adult genre, so go 1-click Left Behind and see what I am talking about! Zach and Nikki will be two characters you will never forget.
