A good read. This was my first read of a book written by this author. It is a succinct, smooth and pleasant read. I liked the short chapters and there was always something meaningful happening in the story. It flowed well.

One of his better ones. I have read everything Daniel Silva has written, many times over. I love the Gabriel Allon series. This was one of his better books, particularly of the most recent few. So nice to see Keller elevated, he has been a favorite character for some time. Also was nice to get a break from some of the usual cast, especially Shamron and Chiara. Also learned much about the Irish Troubles and the IRA. Great read, my only regret is I burn through them so fast I am done in 2 days!

Silva is one of the very best.. I am always disappointed to finish a Daniel Silva novel. But I have never been disappointed by the author or his stories. The Gabriel Allon series is one of, if not the best ongoing adventures in fiction. As always, full of unexpected twists and turns. Intelligently written with just the right amount of complexity to keep the reader thinking but not overwhelmed. Silva's ability to give us real world politics through fictitious characters is always entertaining as well as enlightening. I look forward to Gabriel's new adventures as chief of the agency at Narkiss St. and I would bet the we haven't seen the and of the new MI-6 agent Keller.

The English Spy. The best Gabriel Allon book yet. Daniel Silva gets better and better! I am so glad that he has not fallen down like other authors. He keeps coming up with terrific new plots, while weaving in past events. I love Gabriel and Chiara!

The English Spy. Another great read by Daniel Silva

Another great read. David Silva never disappoints. It’s always a pleasure reading his novels—can’t wait for the next in Silva's Gabriel Allon series. I started The English Spy after reading two less than well written thrillers. As soon as I finished page one, I knew that The English Spy was going to be a winner as I expected. Daniel Silva is a talented, thoughtful, outstanding writer. Keep ‘em coming.

Can't wait for next book...!. Gabriel Allon and Juan Cabrillo are my favorite literary action characters and I eagerly await the next installment in their adventures.

Unlike the rest of the series. This book seemed to have been ghost written by someone who didn't understand how important Gabriel's artistic pursuits are to the fullness of his character, Virtually no time was spent in the opening chapters establishing his passion for restoring masterpieces. The book rushed headfirst into action that was no different than dozens of other thrillers. And not enough time was spent at the beginning enjoying the relationship between Gabriel and his wife. There are many thrillers on the market every month but none with the mosaic of artist/husband/assassin that is Gabriel Allon. I hope the financial reward of being a best-selling author does not result in this series becoming a formula thriller. If so, you will have lost me.

One of the better in the Allan series. Kept you on the edge all the way . Several interesting and unexpected turns in the plot. Exciting couldn't put it down

The English Spy. In my opinion, the Gabriel Allon series is the best thriller series out there. "The English Spy" contains everything that fans have come to expect from a Daniel Silva novel: crisp and intelligent writing, wonderful characters, great use of setting and location, an intriguing story line inspired by real-life current events and, of course, non-stop action. If you have not read one of the previous 14 books, you can certainly jump in with "The English Spy," as enough backstory is provided. That being said, longtime fans of this series will be greatly rewarded, as a number of threads from previous books come together in this one. So, stop reading this review and purchase your copy of "The English Spy" NOW!

Another excellent Allon story. I hate it when I reach the end of Silva's books!

Daniel Silva does it again!. It would not be summer without a new Gabriel Allon novel to get my reading program started and this one is a doosy. From the sectarian neighborhoods of Belfast to the spy capitals of London, Moscow and King Saul Blvd, Silva assembles the usual cast of characters to bring the perpetrators of evil to justice. This is great summer escapist reading and a real page turner. My only regret is that I will have to wait another year to finally see Allon promoted to head of the office and to finally give him some kind of normal life as a husband, father, and civillian. Whose kidding who, he is never going to be a stay at home civil servant. He is an internatuonal art restorer, spy and assasin. But how will he reconcile his two roles? Wait until next year to find out, if then.

Different but good. I honestly think that Silva used this book as a bridge to a new series as Gabriel Allon moves on to the role of Chief, Keller's character will be fleshed out more fully and a new series will begin. I did miss the artistic aspects of past books and the usual team work of past books. I enjoyed it, lots of characters.

The English Spy by Daniel Siva. Gabriel Allon has matured and together with Christopher Kelly have created a great summer read. One of Silva's better works. Give it a try - you'll be pleased.

Great read!. Another captivating book by Mr. Silva! As always his fiction leaves food for thought.

A FAN. Excellent as usual. I wouldn't miss a Silva novel-I always pre-order!! The characters are memorable and the Allon & Keller duo is fantastic. Please keep them working together.

The English Spy. Daniel Silva continues to entertain with wonderful plot twists and well drawn characters! While Gabriel Allon is always focused on his "plan", there are other well fleshed out members of the cast who can entertain and even amuse. I have yet to be disappointed by one of these great stories.

Held me captive!. Mr. Silva does it once again, he held me as a captive reader for every spare minute I had for two days.

Ran out of Steam in the Fourth Quarter!. I recently saw Daniel Silva appear on the " Today Show" discussing his new book and decided to give it a read. This was my first Silva book. The characters are rich, the action is fast-paced, and the book is a great summer read. However, I was disappointed with the way in which Silva ended this book. Like all too many thrillers, the action is non-stop and then the book drags out an unsatisfying conclusion. The last several chapters are disappointing. I loved the book until the author ran out of gas. The end reminded me of a college paper where the student comes to the point that they just want to finish the paper and get it over with.

Intriguing. As always this writer comes full circle with lots of twists and turn in the middle. Very enjoyable read. Have never been disappointed.

The English Spy. Daniel Silva continues to give us great stories! I could only wish the Author's Notes were longer! Silva's take on current foreign affairs is insightful to say the least, which lends belief and makes one question at times, 'am I reading fact or fiction?'.

The English Spy. Fabulous!!! Was up all night reading. A true page turner. Please write faster. Thank you Mr. Silva!

The English Spy. I absolutely love the books by Daniel Silva. The English Spy is also a winner. The story is woven in history and also today's current events effortlessly while writing a suspenseful and very well written novel. His characters come to life on the pages as you read and seem to become personal friends. I would recommend these books to anyone who loves mysteries or suspense.

The one hyu. Tojurttvykk has kitikjhdfuuy.

The English Spy. Brilliant as usual. Enormously entertaining.

The English Spy. Iranians and Russians really bad; American liberals naive; IRA terrorists sorta charming, but bad; British a bit clumsy but good; Israelis extremely brave, extremely smart and very good. No wonder this is Glen Beck's favorite fiction.

Great book. I've read all of his books and this one was great. I highly recommend this book.

The English Spy. The English Spy is another multi-layered utterly riveting book from Daniel Silva, who is as knowledgable about his subject as he is deft in telling us the story. The fifteenth book in the Gabriel Allon series is set in a potpourri of cities - virtually all the sites of previous adventures - only a few months after the end of "The Heist" which was # 14 in the series. By doing this the clever and witty Mr. Silva is buying both us and his main character time before he must leave the field and take over The Office. As a result we see relatively little of the lovely and intriguing Mrs. Allon as Chiara is heavily pregnant with twins, but we are reunited with an array of characters good and bad from previous stories. There are twists and turns galore, and with gore, and what you think you are seeing as you read may not be what you've got a few pages further in. Yes, The English Spy is Christopher Keller, who has become a reader favorite, but even the title can be interpreted in more ways than one. The opening series of events though sensational is misleading especially if the reader thinks this book is going to be about an unhappy English princess. It is not, and before jumping to conclusions, we would do well to think of another much loved British Royal who did die in a boat explosion and not in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris. We see less of Gabriel's well meshed "Office" team, and more of some old friends and many dangerous enemies from the first fourteen books, but Allon and Keller are an awesome team for which no evil doer can be a match for long. First time readers will have no trouble jumping in at level 15 because Mr. Silva does give us back story written in his usual graceful style that informs but never bores. The pacing is perfection; the end of chapter hooks make it impossible not to read just one more and the denouement is everything for which one could hope. The scenes with Leah, Gabriel's first wife who has never recovered from their son's death in a car bombing, and Gabriel's painting of the nursery clouds will stay in my mind forever while Christopher Keller's final scene left me yearning for yet more of him. Gabriel Allon has occasionally been referred to as a 21st century James Bond so I will end with a nod to my previous favorite spy - when it comes to spy fiction nobody does it better than Daniel Silva and he has done it again.

English Spy. Having read all of his books, I don't believe this was his finest work. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the well written prose you always come to expect from Silva. The good news for Silva fans is the wealth of storylines coming out of the Mideast every day which should lead to some great novels in the future.

The English spy. Mr. silva has again proven to be the master of suspense. A profound knowledge of current events is woven into a believable tale. Once more this reader has foregone sleep to finish this book as quickly as possible.

SILVA's BEST!. Read every novel by Daniel Silva The English Spy is hands down the best to date!

The English Spy. Once again I have a book that I cannot put down by my favorite author Daniel Silva. It's like reconnecting with old friends again and sharing in their new challenges and adventures, while always wishing for their safety and success. Silva also does a wonderful job of weaving in historical and cultural backgrounds and connections.

The English Spy. After several disappointing reads lately, from normally reliable authors, this was a delight. Why no movie deal comes out of this series is beyond me. Maybe the work is too cerebral, but I think not. I may go back and re-read earlier versions, as I have done with James Lee Burke. Richard Smith

Great as always. This book is great as always. You have to love Gabriel Alon Marvel hell he did the most difficult situations. Fun reading

A master story teller at his best.. Mr. Silva has written an intricately woven tale - his ability to write his characters into historical events is unsurpassed. Though the story moves quickly, his descriptions add a depth and context that brings both characters and settings to life. I think there is no one better than Silva at drawing the reader into the world between the pages such that your own surroundings fall away and when you do emerge, you are surprised at not seeing a light snow falling on a Viennese street or smelling waves of eucalyptus from the garden on Narkiss Street.

Excellent. Silva delivers again. Fast paced, intriguing, current. Disagree with the Irish portion.

The English Spy. More true than not....very chilling. Excellent

Smart spycraft thriller. If you like a spy story that makes you think, this book will fill your reading time quite handily! Master spy Gabriel Allon in a world spanning tale that pulls in elements and players from all walks of the espionage world moving against the backdrop of today's reality. I can't recommend this book in any other way but to say buy and read it...better yet read the entire mind blowing series!!!

Haha GOTTIE. Bad book

The English spy. Great book, Daniel silva knows how to keep me from watching tv, hanging out with morons and wasting my life. Reading is good, reading the stuff that an author like Daniel Silva creates is true genius. Thanks for saving me from the boredom of reality.

The English Spy. I saw Daniel's interview on morning Joe last week. In the interview he stressed the need for accuracy due to his readers access to Internet information. See the last sentence on page 72.

Outstanding!. I have read every one of Daniel Silvas books and I have NEVER been disappointed. Each one delivers a layered plot that's a delight to discover as he peels layer after layer until we see its conclusion. Gabriel Allon is the beloved agent, the art restorer, the husband who never fails to disappoint. What I like about these books is that they are current. If you've never read one of Daniel Silvas books, go back to the beginning and read them all. You are in for a treat.

The English Spy. What's to say??? Another amazing book about my favorite character ever! I loved how Mr. Silva drew in so many characters from other Allon books and created scenarios where they blended so well. I was beyond touched and cried like a baby in the scene where Gabriel repainted the clouds in the nursery. My heart is still breaking.... This may well be my favorite Allon book ever!

A waste of time. A badly written, uninspired novel. The story is cobbled together from most of Daniel Silva's other Gabriel Allon books only without the detail and the passion. The English Spy, actually former special forces Brit Christopher Keller, is a secondary character in past Silva novels because he shouldn't be used to, and can't, sustain an entire book. Making Keller a principle character is a mistake. The main story about the IRA is unadventurous and utterly without contemporary urgency. Allon is treading water in this one. Silva is trying to keep him from taking over the Office and even the birth of the twins with Chiara is forestalled. The characters haven't progressed. I can't believe the raves that others have written here. Did they actually read the book? What about the huge error on page 72 when Silva has Saddam invading Iraq, his own country, in 1990? "The English Spy" is a dull, padded work of fiction. I wish I could get back my money.

Not at his best. Starts out slow and dull, thought maybe it was written by an assistant who studied up on the Irish troubles. Halfway through picked up a bit and got better, hence 4 stars instead of 3.

A great read. A great smooth, exciting read. Harder to put down then the last one. May the next one come soon.
