Last One Home Book Reviews
Last One Home by Debbie Macomber Book Summary
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • An inspiring standalone novel about the enduring bond between sisters, the power of forgiveness, and a second chance at love.
Growing up, Cassie Carter and her sisters, Karen and Nichole, were incredibly close—until one fateful event drove them apart. After high school, Cassie ran away from home to marry the wrong man, throwing away a college scholarship and breaking her parents’ hearts. To make matters worse, Cassie had always been their father’s favorite—a sentiment that weighed heavily on her sisters and made Cassie’s actions even harder to bear.
Now thirty-one, Cassie is back in Washington, living in Seattle with her daughter and hoping to leave her past behind. After ending a difficult marriage, Cassie is back on her own two feet, the pieces of her life slowly but surely coming together. Despite the strides Cassie’s made, she hasn’t been able to make peace with her sisters. Karen, the oldest, is a busy wife and mother, balancing her career with raising her two children. And Nichole, the youngest, is a stay-at-home mom whose husband indulges her every whim. Then one day, Cassie receives a letter from Karen, offering what Cassie thinks may be a chance to reconcile. And as Cassie opens herself up to new possibilities—making amends with her sisters, finding love once more—she realizes the power of compassion, and the promise of a fresh start.
A wonderful novel of perseverance and trust, and an exciting journey through life’s challenges and joys, Last One Home is Debbie Macomber at the height of her talents.

Good story line. It had an honest realistic story line that was moving. It kept me reading everyday.
Could not put this book down. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Disappointed that it ended. A sequel would be nice.
Predictable. I'm sure there are better books available, even for a beach read. The characters are a little flat and most everything is predictable.
Last one home. Very good, Debbie macomber's books are all good. Not long enough.
below standard. DM is a really skilled writer so it’s hard to believe she wrote this book. It has a pedantic, plodding and predictable quality of a less experienced writer.…not the usual charm and lustre of life we have come to expect from this author.
Last one home. Very good family story
Sooooo slow. Couldn’t finish it….. slow, boring…..
Not worth reading. Reads like a life time movie script. Cannot believe this is on ny times list
Awful. The writing was so bad, I stopped reading at pg. 24. I just couldn't stand the author stating how every character felt. Let me figure it out by their actions and words. This read like stage directions.
Just awful. I can’t believe I made it through this whole thing. In what reality does every male character except for the “love interest” have to be an appalling human? And it just ended out of no where. Save yourself time and find a different book.
Wonderful exciting read. I really enjoyed the story line. The bravery and commitment of Cassie to make a better life for herself and her daughter was wonderful.
Heartwarming family story. The nice story shares ups and downs but shows resolutions which create happy endings.
Last One a Home. Great book. Can't wait for the sequel.
Too many loose ends. I thought the story was well written. But i am honestly very disappointed that it just ended. There were too many loose ends, especially with the sisters Karen and Nichole. We don't find out how thier issues were resolved and that is why only three stars. I'm not sure i would recommend it based on that reason alone.
