Our souls at night. This is a lovely book about people returning to a younger version of themselves. Having the Courage to take a chance on love and overcoming built in resistance to opening themselves to affection. Older people can also fall in love again and imagine giving pleasure and being companionable. Perhaps a little bittersweet but that's what happens in life.

What a beautiful story. It's hard to believe that a story about an old woman and an old man could be so sad and romantic and heart-piercing. Brought back memories of when I read The Bridges of Madison County in high school & cried my eyes out! I'll be thinking about Addie and Louis for a long time...

Sorry. I hope the movie with my two favorite actors Redford and Fonda will magically bring this poorly written story to life.

"Thought" it might be good... As an avid reader, I can say that this book was a huge disappointment on many levels. What a waste of my time and money.I cannot recall when I have read something this lousy.

Our Souls at Night. A very sad yet haunting story. It has a spare beauty that is simply told. I would have liked a bit more detail about the characters but when you know that the author was dying as he wrote this book it makes it ever more poignant.

Depressing ending. Hated the way this ended. The female character went from being strong, self sufficient & capable to being a pathetic victim.

A wonderful read. I expect this to stay with me for awhile. The beautiful tenderness between Louis and Addie, but also the ruthless power of Addie’s family. I kept conjuring solutions for them! I loved Louis and Addie and Jamie and Bonny. It felt so real. I miss them already.

Maybe better choice. Endearing & relational as I am 71 & my husband just diagnosed with Parkinson’s, how would I handle the loneliness? Made me aware of the choices I might make. In my life I would have chosen Louise to spend my last years because there would hopefully be many more days of joy instead of waiting to see if my grandson would make me happy

Our souls at night. Touching and meaningful story for someone who has lived its reality. In a simple, clean, unadorned style Haruf creates a memorable tale and a cast of memorable characters. I felt sympathy and joy and sorrow and disappointment as I moved from chapter. I highly recommend this novel.
