Another great one!. A continuing excellent story in the series. LP is a masterful writer. Once you begin reading, you can stop. Her characters are real. The mystery is very entertaining. All her novels are highly recommended.

The Nature of the Beast. Penny's eleventh book weaves an historical event into a very intriguing plot while portraying her characters with authentic emotions of real people.
Could've been better.. The ending was rushed. The story of the child was just pushed into the background for like half of the book. Too much back and forth.
Another great one!. I enjoyed this book tremendously! I am grateful to be aware of such a talented and prolific author.
Another creepy and entertaining mystery. Louise Penny is really skilled at taking an event in history and turning it into a twisted mystery. Her books reveal new and unusual tidbits about each of her ongoing characters which keeps me coming back for more.
The nature of the beast. What's happened? This and "the long way home" are your weakest offerings.... Take a break and get hold of the writer you ARE! Wait, wait, wait until you have once again the mystery worth writing! Then I will be back!
Fabulous!. Yet another thoroughly entertaining book by Louise Penny. I could not put this one down and was sad to see it end.
Not up to the usual standard. Not the typical storyline or quality from this author. Skip this one and go straight to The Great Reckoning which was fabulous and much more in keeping with tone of the first 10 books.
Nature of the beast. $14.99 is ridiculous - it is selling in hard cover For $16.99 at Barnes & Noble. Publisher getting Greedy & affecting the credibility of Ms. Penny.
The Nature of the Beast. Louise Penny's prior Gamache books have been well written, suspenseful, and also charming. There has been a well wrought dichotomy between Three Pines , with its wonderful characters, and the Gamache city life. At the end of the book we learn that the events are based on a true story. Somehow this plot feels forced into the Three Pines landscape I fell asleep constantly while reading this book. This is not much of a recommendation as a page turner.
Magnificent!. Such a wonderful book, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Disheartened. One of the most boring books I've read in a while. Author was trying to make the plot interesting by adding characters but it got repetitive; I love to read but couldn't wait for the book to end. Very disappointed especially considering I'm from the Eastern Townships.
The Nature of the Beast. Louise Penny out-thinks her reader every step of the way. This is a compelling, beautifully crafted work.
The Nature of the Beast. Exceptional Author. Love the characters. I find myself wanting to be involved in their pursuits, join them at the Bistro and walk through Three Pines. Always an intriguing read; this edition no different.
Riviting. Another story that will keep you guessing up to the last page. I almost wish I could meet Armand and the rest of the folk from Three Pines
