Exodus by Andreas Christensen Book Summary

A high tech space opera set in a dystopian future society where humanity faces its greatest challenge ever.

Exodus is the first installment of the Exodus Trilogy.

When mankind faces extinction, how can anyone survive?

In 2072, Earth faces the ultimate extinction event. In an America turned authoritarian, a race against time begins. To send a starship to a distant planet, where the remains of humanity can survive. Only a small number will be chosen for this final endeavor to save mankind from extinction, and among the contenders only the most resourceful will have a chance.

But while the government wants to choose loyal subjects in order to create another version of the society they have engineered, there are those who secretly conspire to let the starfarers choose their own destiny, free from the bonds of their mother world.

As mankind on Earth faces its final blow, the selected few set course for Aurora, more than 40 light years away!

Follow Tina Hammer, scramjet pilot and officer, Kenneth Taylor, Harvard professor and alienated by the nation he once held so dear, Maria Solis, daughter to one of the richest men in the world, a girl who would never have been chosen, except for her dad's money, on their various paths toward the greatest adventure in human history.

Afraid of intimacy. This author is afraid to get inside a character's head for more than a sentence. We are left watching characters as if through binoculars go through some contrived challenges that are just too remote to be engaging. And the challenges are passed without much excitement. Poor story line and no character development. Not even any good dialogue. I can't recommend this author, she needs to take some writing lessons.

Review. Great book. Lots of fun, and well thought out technical detail.

A good read end of world book. I found the book to be entertaining, honest and melancholy even while having hope. The characters develop well and are good for the story.

Highly recommend!. Outstanding! Written with the talent and imagination of the best sci-fi writers! The plot is realistic and exciting. The story is filled with action and twists. A fun and enjoyable read, I highly recommend this trilogy of books - they are all great!

Exodus. Really liked this book. Who knows, one day we may have to go thru this. Because some of the scientists jargon means nothing to me it still told me how much knowledge the author has so it was easier to follow. Will read all the series!

Loved it!. Exodus drew me in and wouldn’t let go. Great premise and world building coupled with enjoyable character development. I highly recommend Exodus by Andreas Christensen.

Expdus. A bit slow to develop

Worth the time.. The story got me to buy the second book.

Exodus. 👍👏🙃🙂

Exodus. Well written. I hope this is not prophetic. Look forward to the rest of the series.

Good hard SF. A bit telegraphic, but solid world-building. I look forward to the next one

Good but.. Good reading but too close to reality in terms of single party rule.

Needs an editor. The writing was childish and choppy. The story was ok but it lacked suspense, the writer lacks nuance.

Page turner. Very easy to read page turner that kept me interested the whole way through. I wouldn't call it literature but it is entertaining and intelligent. Also realistic for a dystopian America. In 2017 We are all too close to fascist tyranny so it is easy to imagine. Read it.

Wonderful Space Opera !!!!!. Pure story, no page fillers!!! A breath of fresh air in a time of author people pleasing. A page turner I couldn’t put down (in fact I didn’t until I was finished).

Exodus. Loved the story. Makes one think about what might happen to us in our attempt to manage our planets resources. Hate to be here when when some things start running out.

Exodus. I loved Exodus. The theme is predictable and would seem to be a worn out idea, but Andreus’s approach was fresh and engaging. Bravo! A page turner that kept me reading late into the night, even though I know better. Can’t wait to read Aurora!

Dry. Little on the dry side but shows potential and makes me want to read more, but for $4 I’m not going to just now.

Let’s just leave. I found this story very plausible as the World we know comes down to the end. Scientific discoveries and new technologies right thru to the end. Very easy read with an undercurrent of quietly emergent freedom on the line for the new World but with a possible 1 party hierarchy planned. Will this plan stay?? Or change ??

Ex-odus-ellent. That was cheesy, I’ll see myself out.

Exodus - a thrilling science fiction story!. I thoroughly enjoyed the premise and delivery of this book. Considering all the complexity of a novel this epic - Andreas keeps it moving with many interesting twists! Could be an interesting television series "Beyond Exodus...."

Exodus Review. I found this story as created to be very compelling. I love how the science of problem solving was ingenuously incorporated making this story seem plausible . I look forward to reading the second book in the trilogy. Great job :)

Amazing. Even though the exposition was a bit slow, the book has a sort of suspense that keeps you reading. It has a well established story line that makes you curious how it ends. You begin to really like some characters, and I loved how the scientific references/use is mostly correct. It feels like a proper sci-fi.

Great story. Nicely written, great story. Could have included more details and developed characters more fully.

It’s good. I liked it and would like to read the rest of the series.

Exodus. This trilogy has been a great read. Keeping me on the edge through out the entire trilogy.

Loved this Sci-fi. Can't wait to get the next in the series. Thanks

Quick read. Whether you like science fiction or not, the story brings you history, drama, and what if that is timely in an easy to read manner. On to the next book to continue the story.....

Same as below. Excellent read. Great Sci-fi book. I plan to spread the word on this.

Exodus is Terrific!. Loved the first book in this trilogy. Smart writing, good premise and story. Good flow couldn't stop reading it. Can't wait to read books 2 & 3 and also "Alive" l hope it tells the story of Earth post Devastator.

Exodus. Easy read, good for times when you're waiting around or just want to escape our hectic world.

Food for thought. This book was extremely well-written and created situations that we may truly face one day. The comments on the slide into totalitarianism probably bother some reviewers because we ar watching that very thing occur here in the US. Uncomfortable!

Nice surprise. When I started reading this book I thought “I’ll give it a try, I’ll decide to drop it or keep on reading in the first few pages” To my surprise (since this is the first time I read this author), I kept on reading straight thru till the end. And now I want to read all the other books by this writer. Good job!!! Thanks for taking the time to write this story and the others I’m about to read.

Interesting Take on Armageddon Genre. I have never been all that fond of apocalypse stories. You might say that, for me, the theme hit far too close to home as a current resident of Earth. But I found this to be an interesting take on the genre, mainly because of the attempt at forming a valid scientific underpinning for the escape vehicle. That appealed to the aerospace engineer in me. I would argue that the science behind the escape likely could have been employed to avoid Armageddon in the first place. But then the characters would have been stuck on a dystopian planet with an authoritarian political system. The exodus leaves the future wide open to imagination. It was strange that the author did not include carrying frozen embryos for genetic diversity or how Earth animals might have been transported along with the people. Just seeds.

Great Read. I truly enjoyed this book m lol forward to reading Aurora now.

Cool premise. Good bang for your buck here, particularly since it’s free. Very cool near-future sci-fi premise. Definitely worth the read, so much so that I immediately bought part 2 upon completing this and am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Exodus is a good read.. A good story which read very well. I will read the the next two books of the trilogy to see what happens.

Great reading. I loved the history.

Exodus. Excellent! Can't wait to start book 2 in the series!

Great read!!. I’m not a frequent reader but decided to give this book a try and fell in love!! It was a great story and I can’t wait to read the next ones!

Throughly enjoyed. I had fun reading this. After reading the synopsis . I wasted no time downloading. Finished in 3 days. It was a fun read.

Exodus. Exodus grabbed my attention, and wouldn't let go. I sincerely hope that it is made into a television miniseries. A two hour movie would not do it justice. My thanks to the author for creating this "mental movie" of a disaster that brings about the end of a corrupt, authoritarian government and system on earth - much like we now have the beginnings of in reality in the United States after the election of 2016 - and gives the human species a chance at a new beginning.

Great story telling. Christensen is a talented storyteller.

Exodus. Enjoyable resd

What Sci Fi Should Be. After finding so much to love from writers like David Drake, Erik Flint, Chris Bunch, David Weber and more, it seems as if I’ve had to endure more post apocalyptic, dystopian fantasies than I care to shake a stick at. No where in the morass of second rate writing did I see the richness of character, surprise of plot twist, or imagination brought to life regarding new worlds and the means to get there. In Exodus, Andreas Christiansen has revived my hope that there will be more books, more characters, and more worlds worth reading about. Rather than slogging thru technical details for dozens of pages, or trying to play jr. engineer and solve all the minute problems of the voyage to another world, the author sticks to the best parts - the story line, characters, and the settings that make any book worth reading in the first place.

Exodus. This was a great read, and I can’t wait to continue reading more from Andreas Christensen!

Exodus. An interesting idea and a quick read.

Exodus. Excellent. Intriguing, well written.

Really liked this book!. I really enjoyed this story and makes you think about this situation if it were to happen, I’m going to purchase Aurora so I can continue the journey.

Exodus. If you like SciFi, this is a great book.

Exodus. I’m not a person that gives to writing book reviews, but this one deserves to be applauded. The book is happily pure Sci Fi, that doesn’t make the mistake of falling into the Fantasy trap. It is well written and deserves the stars that I have given it. My next aim is to buy books 2 & 3 of this trilogy. A great read Mr Christensen.

Superb. Very well written had me gripped from start to finish

A good read. I couldn't wait to finish it just so I could see what happened in the end

Exodus. Excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

A good read.. I'm often sceptical about the quality of some of the free books - but this makes the grade. Well paced, with characters you can care about, this book takes you to a future where Earth is likely destroyed and hope lies in the stars.

Great !!!!. Enjoyable. Read this very quickly and had no quarks in instantly purchasing book 2 of the series. The idea is nothing new of course and sort of played out many times before in other novels and of course tv and film. But somehow I still find myself eager to read on and see where this goes, which direction they are going to go in.....disaster .. which is the normal. Or different entirely which would make a pleasant change I guess. Looking forward to book 2..

Exodus. A great read, couldn’t put it down, makes you think about where the next stage of our existence on this world as we know it is going and is it eventually going to fight back against the human aggressor!

Exodus. Well worth a read. I'm off to get Aurora the next part!

Very Readable. Very readable and enjoyable story line. There are so many avenues this story could lead to I can't wait to read the sequels and spin-offs.

Exodus. The title says it all. This is a story about humanity being forced to leave the Earth and travel to a new star system. Political instability and intrigue add an extra dimension and future factions for the colonists to handle.

Exodus. An interesting read, plenty of technical detail and a plot that kept me interested. The book ends in a good launching place for a sequel - which should be worth reading. All in all ..... Recommended.

Aurora. Good story in the science fiction genre once started reading couldn’t put it down

Not for me. Not for me.

A very nice story. This book has kept me reading from first to last page, I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to the next release by this author.

Nice. it is a nice book to read

What if. An interesting, well thought out insight into what humanity would do in the face of an apocalypse, although hard to connect with characters due to the story being told a bit clinical. Looking forward to book 2 and seeing a better insight into characters emotions, more feeling less thinking.

Engaging and thought provoking!. What a well written book! You quickly get pulled into the story and will have trouble putting it down. Onto Aurora.... !

Solid. Solid storyline, well paced and easy to read. Good ending with a promise of good things to come in the next book. Worth reading.

Exodus book 1/3. I'm impressed so far. Good premise, imaginative and well written. Look forward to the next book.

Aurora. Very detailed, yet engaging. I can’t wait to see in my minds eye what happens next. The world awaits with new hope. The world built in these pages is full and the characters real. Lovely Job Sir.

Great read. This is an interesting story that is quite believable. Very descriptive without being too technical. A good look at where humanity, or at least the western world, is headed.

Engaging. This was my first book by this author, I found it extremely interesting, held your attention and kept you wanting more. I am looking forward to reading the next two in the series. Want to join me

Can't wait for the next instalment!. Fun book with many subplots for this author to explore. I'm excited to see how things turn out!
