The Clancy Story Continues. Well I was skeptical about having the Ryan legacy continue with a new author; but, I was pleasantly surprised. The book was terrific and allowed Jack Jr's character to develop on his own...away from his father and John Clark. Plus he got himself a girl friend! There was a new set of characters, a childhood friend and a CIA operative. These people, played an important part in the reshaping of Jack Jr's new persona...an operative capable of working through serious world affecting problems with a smattering of advice from Clark and the Campus crew. He did make some mistakes along the way, but, his errors did not detract from the plot of the story. If Tom Clancy is looking down from heaven he would be smiling as the book carried on his tradition!

Disappointing. It is not the highly-detailed, meticulous work that Tom Clancy novels are known for. This tome would have made the late Mr. Clancy spin in his grave as it makes the reader feel the story is being rushed; or to put it another way, it was written just to meet a deadline. To live up to Mr. Clancy's legacy and for his great legacy to go on, perhaps a review of the selection process for writers is in order.

Under Fire. Certainly the worst purported Clancy book ever written. The challenge is trying to force yourself to finish it just to write a review to warn others. Stay away, it's more productive to watch reruns of F Troop.

Under fire. Want to hear more jack! At last he also has a love life. I hope that continues.

Under Fire. Clancy did a great job detailing a coup about an Eastern block country and the treachery surrounding it which was remarkably believable. Nicely woven with interesting characters. The story left you guessing several times.

Boring to the end. Blackwood drones on and on until he loses the readers interest. Hard to follow the plot and the character development is so-so. Really miss Tom Clancy!

Tom Clancy Under Fire. I would not by another by this author. The family ought to be ashamed.

Sad. Well, the Tom Clancy genre is officially dead with this one. Jack Ryan getting a gunpowder test less than 12 hours after letting off a fusillade and coming up negative? Clancy would never have missed that detail. And the improbable pairing of Jack and beautiful Iranian woman. Give me a break! Plus the gratuitous wedging of prior characters like Clark and Ding. Sad Miss this one. Last I will ever bother with. Former Fan

Worst book ever. I will never buy again from this author

Not up to par.. This isn't the Jack Ryan, Jr I know, nor is it the kind of action one would expect of a Clancy novel. Big shoes to fill ....just not there.

Not as good as a Clancy original. The book is a decent read, however the lack of use of the many good and colorful characters that Tom Clancy would have brought is disappointing. Jack Jr. Is left on his own against horrible odds and a war is averted by a brief conversation in a battle field confrontation. Not only surreal, but not credible enough in practice to follow the story line. The book fails to reach the level of believability of a Tom Clancy original. Also, the bad guys are so convoluted in construct I gave up trying to keep them separate another failing in a effort to engender intrigue.

Don't bother. Worst Tom Clancy book of all time. But of course, it's not a real Tom Clancy book. And I will not read another penned by Mr Blackwood.

Good read. Enjoyed this book except for the character of Ysabel. She doesn't fit in to the former characters as seen in the Rainbow group. Bring back the guys with all their tough action.

Pretty weak. This is sort of a cartoon version of a Tom Clancy story. We have our hero, Jack, the oldest son of a current sitting president, traveling all over the Mideast in literally no time at all. Everyone he meet speaks superb English and instinctively trusts him. As a side adventure he travels to Scotland, and single handed, rescues a kidnap victim. The old cold warrior John Clark is reduced to chuckling and spouting aphorisms over the phone. Even in the escapist adventure thriller genre, it's pretty silly.

Too complicated/ too far fetched. The book is decently written but the plots of these books have become so far fetched as to render them beyond belief. That a CIA plot to overthrow a Russian republic would be run by a single guy named Seth, without any backup other than one guy, is preposterous. That the U.S. government would have the secret freelancers known as The Campus is crazy.

Tom Clancy Under Fire. Story isn't to bad but sure moves slow. Wasn't anxious to sit down and read it as I was with other Clancy novels.

Not bad. Good read for completists

Great Read. Good book. Very Tom Clancy style.

Tom Clancy Under Fire. OK but this isn't anything like the quality of the Tom Clancy novels---especially the early ones. The only similarity is the author apparently has a license agreement with Clancy's estate to use his name and characters.

UnderFire Grant Blackwood. Shame on the “Tom Clancy Ghost Writers Guild” for allowing Blackwood to write anything other than Dick and Jane primers.......I barely got started and I knew I was done

Very fast reading you dont want to put it down!!. Book is fast moving another book in series i enjoyed!

Under Fire. Good book easy reading. Makes the reader wonder

TC Under Fire. This effort by Grant Blackwood was a very poor effort and certainly tarnished the Jack Ryan series. Maybe it's time to retire Jack Ryan and son before we get another effort as weak as Tom Clancy Under Fire and the earlier Red Rabbit.

Wait for the paperback to make it to the bargain bin.. Pretty average and dry novel. There's a long string of coincidences that happen in this one that seem too unrealistic. There were also entire sections of the book that seemed to only be there to satisfy the publishers 500 page requirement. Jack Jr seems he'll trust anyone who can control their body language. The story is predictable. I realize it's just a spin off of the main Jack Ryan series, but this wasn't worth the full price of a new novel.

Great Story. I’d guess the bad reviews are coming from Iranians!

Awful. Earth to Clancey Estate: get some new writers. This is the book that can't end fast enough. This is a different, dumbed down, Jack Ryan in a story that the writers seemed to make up as they went along. It is shallow and stupid. It's unlikely I will ever buy another "Clancey novel."

First TC novel.. Good story, lots of names to remember and a little tedious at times. However, the details allow for vivid action scenes that only occasionally get bogged down in detail. Highly recommend this book.

Incoherent. Boring, implausible, poorly researched drivel. Skip this one. I'm going to skip any others by this author. The only intrigue is trying to make sense of the sloppy plot. Clancy would be ashamed.

Under Fire. Terrible. A waste of time and money.
