Rarely, rarely, rarely do we get to see queer characters who are multidimensional, who play hero or protagonist (and wield magic!!!), who have a love story as mundane and magic[k]al as any other het couple in popular books or films or TV shows or whatevers. So thanks, Rainbow, for all that and more.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I was annoyed by this book. I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did. I should have realized that the genre of "fan fiction" means that you will be served a poorly written, underdeveloped plot with uninteresting characters. Don't waste your time.

Amazing writing, story and characters. One of the best books I have ready in a long time! I’m totally hooked after reading the first book now I’m off to reading the sequel! Absolutely recommend to anyone

Jaw-Dropping. I honestly can't put into words about how much this book means to me. Rowell is a genius and her work is so amazing. Carry On is a work of art; it is incredible and so amazing and a perfect perfect book. Carry On is my most favorite book of all time. You won't regret it!!

Magical Novel. This story really is amazing, the plots takes twists and turnthat yanked all kinds of emotions out of me! Simon Snow, Baz, and Penny are characters I don't think I'll ever forget either. My mind is itching for more of the world of Simon Snow, but I think for now: I'll just Carry On.

Fantastic!. With an amazing representation of often avoided and unexplored issues, like internalized homophobia and the influence that parents have on their children, Rainbow Rowell creates an amazing continuation of the charming yet vague plot contrived in "Fangirl." The combination of accurate queer representation, realistic and heart-melting romance, intricate subplots, and an incredible cast of characters makes for an astonishing read. You'll fall in love with the characters as they fall in love with each other.

YES. I have literally read this book like five times and fell in love each time I reread it. Snowbaz ❤️❤️❤️

Meh. The only good thing about this was Baz. He's the only one I cared about. Again this was Harry potter fan fiction. I mean I'm not complaining cause if Baz is Draco its very accurate cause I love Draco. I think its very flawed though that I only cared about a character that came in over 150 pages into the books and even then he wasn't that good its just he was the only good thing about it at that point and I just clung on onto him. To me Simon was the side character in his own story. The romance also very random. I knew it was going to happen but it came out of no where. On Simon's part he never mentioned his attraction to Baz only once and then he just kissed him. I knew Baz liked him but it was going no where. It felt out of character when he randomly kissed him.

THIS BOOK KILLS ME EVERY TIME I READ IT. THIS WAS MT FAVORITE BOOK WHEN I READ IT IN SEPTEMBER.... THEN AGAIN IN NOVEMBER.... AND AGAIN RIGHT NOW. IT WILL NEEVVEERRR BE BEATEN BY ANY OTHER BOOK I WILL EVER READ. RAINBOW ROWELL IS A GODESS AND GENIUS WITH WORDS AND I CANT EXPLAIN JUST HOW GOOD AND HOW HAPPY THIS BOOK MAKES ME!!! READ. IT.

Worst Book Ever. I’m literally only 10% of the way in (about 65 pages) and it is easily the worst book I’ve ever read, somehow even worse than Rainbow Rowell’s previous book in this “series” Fangirl. It makes no sense, the plot and characters are so inconsistent, and the writing is equivalent to that of a 10 year old first discovering watt pad for the first time. I wish I could give it 0 stars.

Literally OMG👏🏾😻. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be...it was so much better. After reading Fangirl I wanted to know more about Simon/Baz and I was so disappointed when the series wasn't real. So when Rainbow Rowell announced that she was going to bring Simon and his friends to life I was so excited. I waited months for this book (which is less than others) and it was worth the wait. 👌🏾😩😭😭

Carry on. This book is amazing. I love all the tension between Simon and Baz. If you like Harry Potter, you will probably like Carry On. There are going to be moments were you just want to stop reading and throw the book, but you don't want to damage it, and you want to keep reading to see what happens next. This book is full of plot twists, suspense, romance, drama, and so much more. If you are looking for a good fantasy to read, I definitely recommend Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

awesome. It took me maybe 10-15 pages to get into it cause it was a bit slow but as soon as a SPOILER Simon was almost kidnapped in the car I was like omg I need to know why this happened and I want to know NOW SPOILERS DONE so I continue with the book and it was so amazing!! The story was so fun and very easy to read. I'd recommend this book to anyone 👌🏼

one of the best books i've ever read. i've read many MANY magical related books. and i've also read many lgbt+ books. this book truly takes the cake for being the best of both worlds. the romance isn't just some side gig to the plot, and the story isn't compelling to the readers just because of the romance. they're both equally important to the story and they both affect how the characters interact with each other. with the characters being hard not to adore, the compelling story, and the blossoming love, i assure you, you'll never find the time of day to stop reading!

Great Read!. Rainbow Rowell does it again! What a great book, this is my first time reading this genre and I’m quite happy. Looking forward to finish the series and hopefully learn more about Simon and his friends.

absolutely amazing. this is genuinely one of my favorite books of all time. it’s one of the few books i’ve read multiple times and i’ve enjoyed the story every single time i’ve delved into it. it’s masterfully written and while it’s noticeably similar to harry potter, the differences within the story are what make it stand out as an incredible work of fantasy. i highly recommend. it’s lovely :)))

I don’t have words to describe it. I love this book with my whole heart. I’ve probably read it six or seven times at this point, and it always always always feels new. I love YA with a passion but this book is so much more than that. It’s the Hogwarts for those of us that knew we were different ever since we realized that we don’t necessarily see ourselves in books like Harry Potter. I can’t recommend Carry On enough and I couldn’t be more excited to read the sequel, Wayward Son.

A work of art. This is book is a work of art - it is amazing, uplifting, and brilliant. No-one should have such a genius way with words, but Rainbow Rowell does. She is the real magician and the real Chosen One.

20 million stars. If I could rate it 20 million stars...I would. This is one of my favorite books and I have read so many books! Please just take a chance and read it!

Like it <3. Worth reading! I don’t normally spring for books like this but I enjoyed it. The writing was definitely flawed at parts (pacing, structure, etc…) but that would have to be my biggest complaint. I guess that didn’t stop me from getting hooked….

Fantastic. First of all... Can I just say... AHHHHHH. This is easily one of the best things I’ve ever read. Also I’m a sucker for cute romance. And enemies to lovers is the BEST trope of all time. I literally had to set this book down and fangirl, on multiple occasions. Eeeek! Soooo beautifullllll. 10/10

Loved it!. What can I say, I’m a sucker for cliches. The enemies to lovers storyline, the chosen one, the magic boarding school. The twist at the end tied it off extremely well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because I thought the characterizations were inconsistent in some scenes, making it frustrating to read. But it smoothed itself out eventually- and overall Simon’s character arc was a thing of beauty. Well done.

Big Fan. Absolutely loved this book. Granted, it definitely rings a bell for Harry Potter vibes, but either way it was a lovely read.

My new favorite book but.... My only problem with the book is that I wish there was more shipping of the otp and that we knew more about how Baz felt towards other characters (besides Simon and his best friend). I hope I see more of the otp in the sequel. That’s my only problem, though. I loved the plot twists and my favorite character was definitely Baz. He’s ridiculous. I also loved the way the characters interacted and how the perspectives changed so we got a well-rounded look at all of the characters. But like I said, plot twists. Rainbow Rowell still got me. Not everyone has the same taste, but i’d definitely recommend it if it looks like a book you might read. It’s fabulous.

Awesome. I loved this. Perfect for young people—or the young at heart. The book is a delightful homage/twist to the young wizard who shall not be named. But it also forges its own path with a memorable story about identity and young love. A total triumph.

Baz and Simon. I have to admit, my friend made me read chapters 61-62 first. And I love her for that. So I bought the book

it CARRIES you along. It’s much more than great. It’s incredibly thought out and written. I hyperventilated so many times. I would have read it in one sitting, but the thought of it ending was crushing, so I’d go do other things then come back and read. Like any amazing book, when it ended I felt a unique sensation (a mixture of ecstasy, sadness, nostalgia, adrenaline) in my gut. I highly suggest you read it. I’d order you to read it if I could, but you know... human rights and all that prevents me.

Oh gosh. Okay I wasn’t sure I would like this book, but it was so refreshingly good that I’m surprised, and I’m not surprised by books much now a days. Absolutely a book that deserves a read!

good. my friend recommended me this book and i did enjoy it. however, i did not like the different points of view. it would have been nice if the book was just written in third person and the “war” was anti-climatic. it felt like everything just happened so quickly. i wish there was more time building up the ending.

OH MY GOD. This book is so beautiful, oh my god. Let's be real, we are all reading it for Simon and Baz and while it takes awhile for that plot to actually happen, it's so worth it. This book was so much better than I expected it to be and it was definitely worth the price.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. The second I saw this book in my library I was ecstatic, I checked it out as soon as I saw it and started reading it immediately. (Literally, I sat down in a chair at the library and read for so long) It's such an amazing book, I couldn't put it down at all it was so addictive. I definitely recommend this. It's so well put together and beautifully written.

Amazing!!. I’m truly at a loss of words. This book mastered every trope it used, and kept me so entertained I couldn’t put it down if I tried! This has quickly become my favorite book and I can’t wait for more! The world-building was phenomenal and depicted beautifully, and each character was just as strong as the next! There were no throw-away characters as each of them made an impact and carried out their role in the book wonderfully. The plot, climax, and story as a whole flowed so seamlessly. I highly recommend this book!

YESSS. I couldn't stop reading. Every word captivated me. I fell in love with Baz and Simon's relationship. I fangirled SO HARD! When it was over I kept re-reading the last line over and over so it wouldn't end. This book is absolutely amazing and would recommend it to anyone.
