Blurred Lines by Lauren Layne Book Summary

USA TODAY BESTSELLER • In a novel that’s perfect for fans of Alice Clayton and Emma Chase, Lauren Layne delivers a sexy take on the timeless question: Can a guy and a girl really be “just friends”?

When Parker Blanton meets Ben Olsen during her freshman year of college, the connection is immediate—and platonic. Six years later, they’re still best friends, sharing an apartment in Portland’s trendy Northwest District as they happily settle into adult life. But when Parker’s boyfriend dumps her out of the blue, she starts to wonder about Ben’s no-strings-attached approach to dating. The trouble is, even with Ben as her wingman, Parker can’t seem to get the hang of casual sex—until she tries it with him.

The arrangement works perfectly . . . at first. The sex is mind-blowing, and their friendship remains as solid as ever, without any of the usual messy romantic entanglements. But when Parker’s ex decides he wants her back, Ben is shocked by a fierce stab of possessiveness. And when Ben starts seeing a girl from work, Parker finds herself plagued by unfamiliar jealousy. With their friendship on the rocks for the first time, Parker and Ben face an alarming truth: Maybe they can’t go back. And maybe, deep down, they never want to.

Loved it.. That’s it. That’s the tweet.🥲

You won’t regret it!!. I read it in less than a day, I couldn’t put it down!

I can’t…. * Spoilers Ahead* In all the reviews I read, not one mentioned the constant inconsistencies in the story line. The story is told from the two main characters point of view. They alternate with every chapter. Parker, the female lead, has a mother who is sick with cancer. She doesn’t talk about her much, but in Ben’s point of view, the mom has died from cancer. We randomly reach a chapter where they are visiting Parker‘s parents house, where the mom is now alive, and has beat cancer. I’m on page 51, and already the mom is both dead and alive, dinner was enchiladas on one page, and lasagna on the other, and an ex-boyfriends name has changed twice. This book is going in my did not finish pile, because all of these inconsistencies make it very tough to follow along.

Really really loved it. Quick read. Engaging characters. Didn't want it to end

Loved it!. This is my favorite friends to lovers book! Very well made!!! ❤️

“What if the right guy… …Has been right in front of me?”. “Chemistry is like anything in life. The more you look for it, the harder it is to find.” Two best friends who have been secretly in love with each other since their first year at University of Oregon but have continued to live in denial with themselves. Roommates in college and after graduation. Will they be able to accept their feelings for each other or continue to live in denial? A well-developed plot and proper character development throughout the storyline. The plot, pacing, and scenes were magnificent. Masterfully written with plenty of infectious humor. “What if the right guy… …Has been right in front of me?” “Or maybe because my ovaries were hyperaware that Ben’s ridiculous good looks would lead to heartbreak. But whatever the reason, we did the implausible.” “that’s one rather crucial detail we’ve each learned about the other person. That we’ll put their needs first. Always. “Parker gives a head nod in my direction and I hide a grin. “He’s supposed to be in rehab for sex addiction. Seems he got out.” *ARC provided from the publisher for a review* The true test of love is not always ‘Will you fight for it?’ The real test of true love is often ‘Are you willing to give it up?~ #TiffanyReisz Playlist: #Islands In The Stream by #TheShires #Fallin' For You by #GardinerSisters #TakeAChance by #Marion

I couldn't put it down. I read the entire book the first day I got it.. I couldn't put it down...

Blurred lines. ARC provided by netgalley This was a simple and sweet love story. Ben and Parker have been best friends for the past 6 years. Parker has been in a relationship for the past 5 years and Ben is the commitment free no strings attached kind of guy. After Parker gets dumped she decides she is done with relationships and wants to be more like Ben and have casual hook-ups. And who better to have them with than her best friend and roommate. The story has been told so many times before the best friends turned lovers. Even so, I still enjoyed this book. I found myself rooting for them. Even being devastated with them as well. My copy was an uncorrected proof so hopefully some of the inconsistencies will be fixed with editing. That is my only complaint. So if you are looking for a sweet, simple romance this is the book for you.

5 Talk or Mute? Stars. I have to say that Lauren Layne has quickly become one of my go to authors for things to read. All of the books I’ve read by her have been winners for me including Blurred Lines. The writing style of this author always keeps me engaged and wanting for more. I’m also a huge fan of dual POVs and friends-to-lovers stories and this had both. I loved this book! Lauren Layne did an amazing job taking a subject that isn't new, yet telling it in a way that was new and refreshing. It's one of those books that I wish I could read again for the first time and get all of those crazy feelings I had all over again. This book left me with a smile on my face. I can't wait to read it again and I definitely will.

Could not put it down.. Absolutely loved this book! Such funny and emotional writing. Ben and Parker are such amazing characters that I fell in love with both of them. They were funny, honest, and real. I just found a new favorite author. Amazing! You will not be disappointed.

Lack Orginality. This story was lacking purpose/meaning. The events that took place were very Hallmark and formulaic to me. I could pretty much anticipate the characters next dialogue and move. I’m not saying that’s a total bad thing, because it does come with the territory of the best-friend to lovers genre. BUT I’ve read some of those same genres and there is just more texture, originality, and meaning to those stories than there is here. I gave it three starts because I do like the story, but it was just a bit too cliche and generic for me.

Loved!. Loved the relationship between Parker and Ben. It was real…not over the top, just real. One of my favorite couples.

First author read. This is my guitar book I’ve read of hers. Of this book is any indication of her writing I want to read more!!! I enjoyed the characters so much in this story. I did not feel the story line was drawn out. I can’t even decide what to read next!

Blurred Lines. Loved it!

Loved this book. I received an ARC from netgalley

4 Bestfriends To Lovers Stars!. I love Lauren's books! I was glad I started this one early in the day or I would of been up all night. Once I start one of her books I ignore everything around me because I can't put the book down. Parker Blanton and Ben Olsen meet during her freshman year of college. Six years later and they're still best friends. They are sharing an apartment. Their relationship is strictly platonic. Parker has been dating her boyfriend Lance for 5 years and Ben is a one night stand type of guy. Usually having to use Parker for an excuse to get his latest girl out of the house in the mornings. Everything is going great until Parker's boyfriend Lance dumps her out of the blue. After talking to her friend Lori she starts to wonder about Ben's no-strings-attached approach to dating. Using Ben and Lori has her wingmen they hit the bars. Parker just can't seem to get the hang of it. She then decides to approach Ben. The two start a friends with benefits relationship. All is going well until Lance comes back into the picture. Now here is why I dropped a star. I just didn't agree with what Parker did. I just thought it was way to quick for her. I really enjoyed this book! I loved how close Ben and Parker are. They made me laugh many times. They had me fanning myself a few times too. Loved the Epilogue at the end!! Would I recommend? Most defiantly!! Can't wait for more books from you Lauren Layne! You are awesome woman!! ***ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley. Thank you so much!!***

Love. This book has it all the love story the passion and being able to paint a picture in your head of the storyline . Love it!

Great love story. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Finally, endearing characters and great dialogue!. So many books in this genre are flat and lack a development of the characters beyond the typical internal dialogue of their forbidden lust. I love how Lauren Layne develops a story that makes you feel invested in the characters and the outcome. The banter between Parker and Ben is spot on and genuinely funny! Great read!

Perfectly wonderful, hilarious, heartfelt, sexy best friends to lovers romance. BLURRED LINES by Lauren Layne is perfect, unforgettable, wonderfully sexy, special, and sweet. It made me laugh out loud and cry, and smile at the worth-waiting-for happy ending. In this friends-to-lovers themed, contemporary romance, young professionals Ben and Parker have been BFFs since college and share an apartment, defying the adage that boys and girls can't be best friends. Ben is a self-described typical male whose only interests are apparently beer, sports, and one-night stands. But despite Ben's womanizing ways, he has always been there for Parker when she's needed him most. When Parker's boyfriend of five years breaks up with her, Ben will do anything to make her happy and give her what she needs, including no strings attached sex, which inevitably becomes complicated and could ruin their special friendship. What happens next is a hilarious, heartfelt, and emotional escapade full of surprises and zingy dialogue. I loved how Ben stood by Parker's side and how his nickname for her "Parks" was so cute, how Parker came to his rescue when he was having girl problems, and how at home they felt with each other. They are funny and fun together, have the easiest time talking to each other, and have the best sex ever. I completely understood and sympathized with their confusion about their feelings, and rooted for them the whole way. I loved how they were able to work things out, because what girl wouldn't want to be with her very best friend who totally gets her, loves her to death, and happens to be hunky and compatibly wonderful in bed? Fresh and fast-paced, BLURRED LINES is a perfect escape/comfort read, and guaranteed to cheer a girl up when she's feeling down.

Adored it!. So cute

Awesome. Great book!

Utterly Obsessed!. Another hit from Lauren Layne that has me scrambling to get to the next book! I have been utterly obsessed with everything I’ve read from Lauren Layne and highly recommend her books to other hopeless romantics like myself!

Love Ben and Parks. Awesome book!!

Sweet & Hot. Loved this wonderful sweet feel good story. It was funny and lighthearted with great characters that were well developed and I found them to be lovable with a great connection and great steaming chemistry. I loved that this story was from both their point of views, so that we, the readers could feel the anticipation, the want, the desire that they feel for one another as well as getting to feel their protectiveness for one another as they come to realize their true feelings. The twists and turns that this story takes make it all the more interesting. Ben Olsen and Parker Blanton have been best friends since they met in freshman orientation, becoming roommates their junior year. Two years after graduating college they are still living together and sharing rides to work. But when Parker's boyfriend Lance dumps her after dating her for five years, Parker turns to her best friend to help her learn to flirt all over again, and what starts out as a bet over a first kiss, turns into the hottest kiss that Parker has ever experienced. Never had her mouth been devoured like it was the best kind of dessert, as a firm male body reminded her exactly, how female she is and maybe friends with benefits could be beneficial. And Ben agrees as long as it doesn't ruin their friendship. Their chemistry is sizzling hot! You have got to read this to find out. Will it ruin their friendship? What will happen if Lance wants Parker back? Loved this Sweet, Hot story! Highly recommended! Received a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

While not a favorite this was a cute book with a nice wrap up. 3.5 stars – Rounded I’ll admit that I like the friends to lovers trope, but for it to work well for me, the friendship HAS to feel plausible and real to me. In Layne’s new release, Blurred Lines, she dances with just that –what happens when a friends to lovers situation starts to be infused with ‘feelings’, when neither character is quite ready to admit it to themselves. Parker and Ben met in college – and have had a solid friendship since then. Friendship is an odd term here for me in terms of Parker’s feelings. See, I found her demeaning, judgy and not as likable as I would have wanted for a character. Sadly, she was also far more real and plausible, honest to the point of frustration when compared to people in real life. Ben is a typical collegian: a strict no serious relationship policy, he’s not interested in being tied down or accountable to anyone else. Of course, he’s the one to fall first, and perhaps it was just meant for him to have that serious moment of grow up. But, Parker’s depiction (even to herself) of Ben is that he’s a slut. An attitude that she throws about regularly toward others, even as by her limited standards she was being just that. I hate that term, the paternalistic attitude that separates women expressing sexuality from the “atta boy” mentality applied to men. I hoped for more from Parker, and didn’t see it. But, deep down, both characters do have moments to grow and learn, even as they fall back into old patterns as is in keeping with their emotional immaturity. Those moments were plotted with care, and the dialogue was snappy and clever. The story moved forward and brought us into the moments and explained the points of view, I just couldn’t buy into the relationship as a “thing’, mostly because I felt Parker was holding back and not being entirely honest. While not a favorite (like the Sex and Stilettos Series) this was a cute book with a nice wrap up with two characters who were presented as honest and real, just a bit more than I want for a quick fun romance read. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

LOVED IT. Seriously this book had me laughing, angry, crying and absolutely loving it! I’ll definitely keep it on the “will be read again” pile.

Loved!!. I loved this book. It was so funny. I loved their friendship! Highly recommend it.

Love this book!. Great read! Couldn't put it down, I can not wait to read the next one!
