Moon Signs by Helen Haught Fanick Book Summary

Retirement is a time for knitting, gardening, and an occasional quiet lunch with friends, according to Kathleen Williamson.  Her sister Andrea has an altogether different point of view.  When the sisters go to the Canaan Valley to search for paintings mentioned in a document found in an old hotel once owned by their grandparents—paintings that might be Monets—Andrea immediately becomes involved in tracking down a murderer.  Kathleen would much rather be looking for the paintings, but she goes along with Andrea, since the victim was their hotel-keeper, murdered just down the hall from their room. The question is: Does the murder have something to do with the elusive paintings?

There are many clues and many suspects, including hotel staff, valley residents, and the mysterious foreigners who come from the Eastern Seaboard for skiing.  There are also many types of danger—icy roads, sub-zero temperatures, and a killer who doesn't care how many people die in the attempt to make sure the right ones do.

Moon signs. Lots of loose ends going in every direction but tied into a realistic and neat bow by the end of the story! Great characters, wonderful setting, fun mystery, good read!

Moon Signs. I enjoyed this delightful story of sisters, an inn, 2 Monets, intrigue etc.

Moon Signs. A most enjoyable book! Set in a small mountain town , I could almost see the snow and the ski slopes! The story is a good mystery with some quirky characters and a great story line.

Sophomoric but i liked it. Found myself really absorbed in the mind of the main character and the setting. Some of the writing was a little sophomoric, lots of repetition (the same thing is described three or four times the same way each time so we're not getting any new info) and the comparison of the sisters and their differences is obvious without the narrator pointing it out every paragraph. It was, however, easy to follow and an interesting plot. I was looking for something less intricate after a Victorian poetry phase and this was perfect.

Great Book!. Enjoyed reading!

Moon Signs. Great quick read. Enjoyed it, and look forward to book 2.

Moon Signs. Totally enjoyed the book. Enjoyed reading the names of places I have actually been to.

Moon Signs. A "nice", easy book.

A very calm cozy!. I’m only a little younger than our pair of sleuthing sisters, and enjoyed the rather mellow pace and lack of jarring action. The characters aren’t hugely developed psychologically/through conversation, but enough for you to get a feel for them. I’m a devotee of detective/mysteries along the lines of small English village/golden age, and this fit my bill pretty well. Also, I’m an editor and this is one of the few ebooks where I didn’t see a typo - bravo. ;) Pretty sure I’ll read the next one.

Interesting look at sisters. Light mystery, lots of comparisons between two sisters and the differences in their personalities, very much as it in real life. Enjoyable read.

Delightful. A delightful throughly enjoyable mystery

Moon Signs. A cozy mystery in several ways. Charming setting and exciting adventures. Interesting characters and well sustained suspense. Most enjoyable!

Moon Signs. It was a little underdeveloped for the characters and the town and area. It was an interesting plot but there wasn’t much substance in the book as a whole, sorry to be so blunt.

Ok. Let me count: the two sisters stayed at the lodge for about nine days x three meals plus snacks per day. Every single meal was mentioned. Tiresome. What was mentioned in chapter 1 was mentioned again in chapter 16. Did the author think we were not paying attention? Some parts were so redundant. Story was OK but rather superficial. Sweet enough heroins.

Moon Signs. Cute, friendly characters. Don't know if it was me but didn't fully keep me involved.

Interesting tale of WV. I enjoyed the story line very much. I especially liked the author’s use of familiar West Virginia sites. However, I was not fond of her writing style. I am sure the next books in this series will be much better.

Moon Signs. Such a refreshing change to have two elderly ladies as the protagonists. Eminently likable characters, read in one sitting.

Really enjoyed this bok. This book was very enjoyable to read. The characters are good so is the storyline. I’m looking forward to reading the second one in the series.
