*heart attack*. I bought and read Red Queen when it first came out, it seems surreal that book two is almost here. Jesus Christ I need to cut my TBR down exponentially or I won't get to this until June... Of 2020

This book is terrible.. I don't usually write negative reviews and I usually find something positive to say about a book. I can't with this one. I just can't. The main character is so self obsessed it's ridiculous. She has zero redeeming qualities what so ever. The best thing about this book is that it is over. I strongly disliked this book.

WOW........... Amazing!!!!!

RED QUEEN. Just started reading it, I walked into Barnes and Nobles and this was the first book I saw and I immediately had to read it. And let me tell you so far, I am not disappointed. Can’t wait to read the second book! 🤗

Okay-ish. This book wasn’t really the greatest or the most terrible book, but it wasn’t good. The book was boring and the characters weren’t developed good. Made was selfish and didn’t care about anyone. She could have saved lots of new bloods if she went back to the palace. Those who are saying she made the right choice in not going to the palace are wrong because if she went back to the palace with Maven, she probably would have had a better shot at killing him. The book could have been better if Mare didn’t only care about herself. Also all her friends who were with her all the time hated silvers even though they acted like silvers. Maven was obsessed with Mare for no good for no good reason. I would recommend not getting this book.

Decent. It was decent, not the best. It was sort of slow at first, but then it got really good! The end was just wow! She makes good endings, but the majority was not the best thing ever... they characters felt a bit flat( I gave it an extra star because of the end). I wish maven was in her more (his character is the best) P.S. I want Maven to turn good somehow!!! 😭

*starts to fangirl*. Yasss, I can't wait for this to come! Red Queen was so good I hope this is better!!

Not even done yet!. I love how Victoria writes the book. There are parts in the first book and this one where I will be like *GASP!* or even my eyes tear up. I love how I FEEL like Mare even though I'm not her. I have no spoilers to share, but that's only because I'm not done with the book yet! People said it suffers from "second book syndrome (sbs)" but I disagree. I can't say that for sure yet though…

BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ. Honestly this is the best book I've ever read,I read it in a day.

Amazing. Just awesome.

Can't wait. Red queen was excellent. It wasn't all that new, but the story was pretty good. I am excited to read the next book, and I hope it's better than the first.

Amazing. I don’t understand many other reviews here, this book was just as good as the first. An incredible sequel that leaves me craving the next book!

Shade killed me in so many ways. My mom is one step closer to making me read 8-12 range books cause ✨ violence ✨ and if she tries to take this book away from me I will go full KABLAMO MODE on her.

I really tried ..... .... but I’m done. I’ve suffered through two books of the completely unlikeable main character’s constant navel gazing between about how hard it is to be her and how great it is to be her. Yeah, we get it, you’re the lightening girl [eye roll]. First, Mare’s a perfect example of why certain folks should not have power over others. We’re constantly subjected to her inner thoughts of greatness—fail to show her respect and she’ll show you just how powerful she is—and her incessant whining about being a leader. Always eager to wield her power over others, even kill when it’s not necessary. And quick to threaten others for slights, real or imagined, she’s not someone who should have that kind of power. Second, her mind-numbing inconsistency. I almost laughed when toward the end of book 2, as Mare is saying good-bye to her family (only a day after losing their son), Mare makes it all about her and how she doesn’t need the alone time with her family on the tarmac because she’s used to being on parade and watched all the time (poor little lightening girl). But right before that, we were subjected to pages of her boring mental angst of just needing some time alone to process her feelings. Why can’t everyone leave her alone! Good grief. And when I say pages, I mean full chapters devoted to What have I become? Why don’t people leave me alone? How dare they disrespect who I am—I will show them the power and might of the lightening girl! I am great! I am nothing. I am your leader! I’m just Mare from the Stilts. You will fear me! Anyway, I’m out. I forced myself to finish Book 2 since I paid for it and I’ve never quit a series before, but it’s not worth it to struggle through another book of lightening girl’s diary.

Amazing. The third book is coming out of February 7 2017 three more months to go😱😱😱😅😁

More Dramatic + Some Good And Bad. You see some of people Reviews do have a point on what they’re saying about Mare Barrow she doesn’t need to waste herself on her Feeling about Maven plus Cal...It really is frustrating on how we have to keep on listening to her whining about her life or herself especially sense Maven do have some point about her Weakness + Life + Feeling...I mean she needed to grow up like the rest of her Family and Friend they show more Gratitude more Fearless more Good Attention plus Attitude... 2.We understand or some of us do..about her Ability and her Power sense it goes a long way through her life as she get older. Same thing with Cal he is more understandable Confident he also not afraid of showing his Anger or his expression of his experience from his Past...He is allowed to show the difference between not being a non-Prince person or actually being a Prince 👑 I mean just because he is Silver like his little Brother Maven and his Father plus his step-mom or his Mother??? (Sorry those topic or theory is confusing for myself) 3.My Favorite Characters from the Books is •Farley-A Friend + A Family •Shade Barrow-Mare Brother •Cameron-A Newblood Friend •Maven-A King 👑 Obsessed with Mare Barrow •Kilorn- Because that one is wrong spelling it because the author spell the Name that way btw 😚 •Gisa- Mare Barrow little Sister she is more of a good Character because she doesn’t fully waste herself on whining or regretting....I always thought that She would be with Kilorn 😘 -Mare Dad is actually more of a good character and I admire him soo much just the way he does and never give up on his Family From the one and only ☺️Deadly_Roses☺️

AMAZING. i love the action and romance

Page turner. I bought this book today and finished it today. Of course it ends on cliff hanger, so I am just in anticipation for the next book! This book is tragic, beautiful, heartwarming, and heartbreaking. You will fall in love with the words.

Honestly the best direction this could have gone in. This series is probably one of the most captivating of all time. To get inside mares head and learning along with her what she is capable of is really empowering. And I cannot thing of a better antagonist. Precise, cold, and manic. Perfect to go against Mare. Excellent book and series. Can't wait for the next!

True fangirl review!. I can't even begin to share my thoughts about this series.... I only have 1 question I'm afraid to here the answer for: Where is the next book? 😂😭❤️

Mildly disappointed. I was a fan of the first book so when this one came out I naturally planned to devour it in a day or two. As I started reading I found myself getting bored and finding excuses to stop reading and to avoid starting up again. I finally finished but it was a drag. The characters slowly become consumed with anger and depression making it almost unbearable to listen to their constant grieving and arguments. Even the romance between Cal and Mare has gone bitter taking on a sour and desperate feel that isn't enjoyable to read about. It isn't the worst book out there but I was hoping for better.

Incredible. I’ve found my favorite series! This dystopian novel, in my opinion, is better than the hunger games or even divergent. Every once in a while the descriptions are a bit confusing, but it’s written so well and the plot is so creative it’s easily forgotten. This was a great contribution to the Red Queen series.

2 stars for trying. So, I read "The Red Queen" because everybody loved it and it looked interesting, but the story itself disappointed me by the time I'd finished it. When the sequel came out I figured I'd give it another try, because a lot of series only get good after a few books. No. Just no. This was even worse. These books have a lot of fundamental flaws that kind of break the laws of (book) nature. The characters are SO unlikeable, they make really bad decisions, and I found it hard to connect with any of them. The writing style is also a little overdramatic, with characters unironically delivering sassy lines after killing someone like "who has the advantage now?" And let's be real, I know originality isn't super necessary in YA novels, but the "little lightning girl" being manipulated by the government and rebel groups as a symbol in a civil war between the privileged and the oppressed is kind of familiar ("The girl on fire," anyone?). These faults don't sound bad on their own, but they all came together to make a book that I found very unpleasant to read. I struggled to make it to the end just so I could write this review knowing everything about the plot. Bottom line: you won't like Mare, you won't like Cal (he never really even does anything? It's not his fault, you just don't see him acting in any meaningful ways, so he's hard to like), you won't like Maven, and all of these main characters are so distant and removed from the background characters you won't get a chance to like them either. There IS a way to tell a story about characters making hard and sometimes bad decisions, about characters who are torn between right and wrong. But this isn't a story about an antihero making tough decisions in a realistic portrayal of war and rebellion. It's a story about a low-key overdramatic girl you and no one else likes, talking about how she doesn't connect with anyone.

It was good but not the best. Ok so after reading the Red Queen this was a bit of a disappointment and like tbh I didn’t like it that much but it was still really good. You meet a lot of new characters in this book as they are recruiting more like red bloods with sliver abilities so that’s cool. But like this book reminds me a lot of Mockingjay (the last book in hunger games) because like they are on an island that is a secret from the silvers and like yea, so it wasn’t like a new thing.

Classic YA plot. This is a good series! Classic YA strong female lead

THIS BOOK. I highly recommend! If you’re looking for a book to really move you then this is the one (not done yet)

It was good. I definitely think the first book was better, but this book is still amazing. I see a lot of reviews rating it low because Mare is selfish, but come on. It adds drama to the book and nobody’s perfect. And yes Cal and Mares relationship is a bit bumpy, but its obvious they care for eachother.

love love love. the holy grail of answers to the cliffhangers

Speechless. I read Red Queen, and it was amazing. Naturally, I was stoked for this book to come out. The plot is completely different from the first one, and every time it slows down something picks it right back up. It's a very exciting novel that had me feeling everything that the main character felt. I haven't read a sequel this good since the Scorch Trials. I implore you to buy because it's with the cost and the wait.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Read

Absolutely LOVED it!. It picked up right where the first one left off and I couldn't put it down!

Captivating and amazing!. If you loved hunger games and divergent, you'll love this book. I hope it becomes a movie too!

Does not disappoint. Best sequel ever. When I began to read Red Queen I thought that this was a knock off of the selection, but it is so much more. I recommend this to everyone the story is so intriguing and keeps you on your toes with every step. This is truly an amazing story and I can't wait for the next installment. And I wish for many more to come.

Amazing. Where do I start. This was by far Amazing. I could not put this down. It was like I was sucked in. I would love to see more books like this one:)

Why god why!. Ok....so I bought the book on Amazon so I can read it ahead of time and let me tell u this, it is so different from the first book it is maddening there is far to many battles and sadness that it's just a constant continuation of struggles. I seriously just found my self wanting a "break" every now and then while reading just to clear my head of all the chaos. I have to say I really wished there was more of a plot line and romance or really anything between the characters at this point. The second book really left me disappointed especially since I loved the first book so much. I really hope the books yet to come will have a better storyline...this was definitely not one of those books that u couldn't put down and it certainly dragged on compared to most books I read.

Wuwgjkbewfvbweflvbhw. Why do I still love Maven with all my heart 😂

Totally Unlikeable Protagonist. I really wanted to enjoy this book because I sincerely liked the first one and I think the storyline is so creative. But Mare is just SO completely unlikeable I can’t take it. She constantly makes terrible, selfish decisions and justifies it by her own judgment. I really don’t like Mare and I don’t have the patience to type out everything else that’s wrong with this book—like pages and pages of Mare’s thoughts and memories and pointless rants. Barely any plot progression. Really long descriptions of things and places that don’t matter AT ALL, and terribly underdeveloped characters and relationships that really left me scratching my head. I’ll just leave it at that. I will not be finishing the series and I say that with a heavy heart because I’m halfway through and truly wanted to enjoy the rest of this adventure but literally ONE character has ruined it for me and I don’t think she will change in the other installments.

Amazing. I don’t understand some of these reviews! Whoever thinks this book isn’t good, there’s something wrong with you! It is not based on logic, and it is not a fairy tale do you shouldn’t expect Mare and Cal to be the perfect couple that will never have a falling out! It has a wonderful take on the real world and I cannot tell you how many times I have read it! I think it is an amazing sequel to the Red Queen series.

ITS SO GOOOD. Red queen was the best of the books so far but I am only in kings cage, the books seem to get more dramatic and more into cal and mares romance, I will recommend if you want a book with a action and romance. Their is a lot of plot twist that really annoy me but it’s a book and needs to keep moving so it’s unpredictable in some cases. I have fallen in love with the series and recommend to teenagers if they will like to read something to keep them up at night.

Glass sword ⚔️. She’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacccccckkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ❤️ mare and the scarlet guard #lightninggirl4life

Good Enough. A bit predictable but still a decent read.

Great book. A book with seemingly real emotion, real trials, and tribulations.

Seriously?. Between the little to no character development, shallow narration and exploration of the world the story takes place in and the terrible writing, I feel like I am reading a high school kids first book. It literally reads like someone tries to mash Game of thrones' death count, Hunger games, and divergent. Simply terrible.

Glass Sword. The book for me dragged out at some parts, and I found myself getting kind of bored. HOWEVER, this is really the only bad book in the series, so I would suggest you read it, so you can read the next few books.

Still reading but so far..... Okay, I badly want to like this book. And I kind of knew going into this second one that it wasn't going to be that great but that doesn't mean that I'm still not slightly disappointed. Yes the plot line is similar to hunger games but I still enjoyed the first book. I JUST HATE HOW MARE IS IN THE SECOND NOVEL. Ugh I can't stand her whining. I feel like I'm reading the same thing over and over again but just phrase differently. N what the hell is up with her and Cal?! She can't let him go but at the same time she can't stand being around him and he makes her skin crawl. HUH. I also think Cal needs to stop being a baby and face reality. (Or book reality lol). I don't wanna hate Cal :( I love a good romance in these type of books. I'm hoping Aveyard is reading these comments and took them into consideration with the third book. Fingers crossed!

Love it. The first book was found one day at work and it took me almost a year to getting around to read it.. once I got through the first chapter I was hooked!! I will definitely recommend to friends

Love it!. Excellent book! I love to see how psychologically accurate the things of her past affect Mare in the future, seeing the world and everything as monetary. Spoilers: I hate the death of her brother, but I love the small romance I could see between her and the prince cal, I read it in 3 days!

Love. I love this book. Can't wait for the next! The cliff hangers at the end make me impatient. 🙄

😍❤️. AMAZING

Steel Scars. This book started off written very confusing, picking up from an escape in the first book. I’ve read thousands of books, enough where I could skim over it and get an idea of what was trying to be communicated. It was half way through the book when I realized I was reading just another Hunger Games with just a bit of X-Men thrown in. Young, uneducated girl taken from home that ends up with her fighting against people that consider her and her kind inferior. Both royal brothers being infatuated with her but you aren’t sure why. You know in the first book where the second is going to have to go but hoped it wouldn’t be so predictable.

The red queen. Such an amazing book my favourite series

Another winner I couldn't put down.. Aveyard has yet to disappoint. Her style and detail in writing makes me feel as if I am IN the book as a bystander. I cheered, I cried at the loss of "friends" and I was filled with anger and want of revenge for this that did Mare wrong. To say my emotions were correctly evoked for a well written book would be an understatement. If this series isn't made into a move (Victoria-let NO ONE touch that screenplay but your own nimble and creative fingers, for the love of all that is holy!) then the world will be a less thought provoking place.

Glass Sword Review. AHHH what an amazing book and I simply can't wait to read the 3rd book!!

Nooo. That ending killed me and the fight with cal OMG I wanna just die

Please wait! Glass Sword book comments loading...
